Ever since Zhen Tian suspected Ji Yuzhi of suicide, she had been keeping a close eye on him. Afraid he might do something bad again, she always felt that cooking was just an excuse. After all, he never smiled all day; he must be unhappy.
She thought no one had noticed her little actions, but Ji Yuzhi was actually fully aware of them.
He used to go to and from school by himself, but now that Zhen Tian is always clinging to him, Zhen Lei takes both kids to and from school together. Occasionally after class, Zhen Tian will run to the third grade to see what Ji Yuzhi is doing.
Lu Yiran, also a third-grader, watched helplessly as his younger sister ran to his class every day, but never looked for him. Instead, she would go to the boy in the class who always competed with her for first place.
Lu Yiran was naturally not convinced. He called Lu Yinuo, a fourth-grader, and Lu Lin and Zhen Hong, a second-grader, and cornered Ji Yuzhi at the classroom door after school, demanding to know why he had approached his sister.
Ji Yuzhi didn't want to pay them any attention. But Lu Yiran had no intention of letting him go.
Fighting is commonplace for boys of this age, and Ji Yuzhi was definitely no match for four opponents, but he refused to admit defeat.
"Zhizhi! Brother!" When Zhen Tian ran to find Ji Yuzhi, she saw her brothers ganging up on him, and she rushed over in a flash.
Pushing aside her brothers, she saw a scratch on Ji Yuzhi's handsome face.
She turned around angrily. Zhen Tian was a head shorter than her youngest brother, Lu Lin, but she was just as imposing: "Why did you hit people!"
The brothers, realizing they were in the wrong, stood with their heads down in front of Zhen Tian, letting her accuse them.
"I don't want to talk to you guys for now." She put her hands on her hips, looking genuinely angry. "You can reflect on yourselves. Let's go home."
"younger sister!"
"Little sister!"
No matter how the four people called to her from behind, she ignored them.
"Does it hurt?" Zhen Tian carefully held Ji Yuzhi's hand.
"It doesn't hurt." He never suffered a loss, and although he was beaten, those four people didn't gain anything either.
"You're lying, you've already bled."
Ji Yuzhi had a small scratch on his cheek, with only a little blood seeping out. It didn't really hurt much, but seeing Zhen Tian's distressed expression made it hurt a little more.
"What happened?" Zhen Lei asked worriedly, seeing that the child looked like he had been bullied.
"Dad, my brother and the others..." Zhen Tian immediately wanted to complain.
Ji Yuzhi pressed her hand down and said to Zhen Lei, "It's alright, Uncle."
"Zhizhi...why won't you let me tell you?" Zhen Tian knew that Ji Yuzhi wanted to keep it a secret, so she asked quietly.
"Your brothers treat me this way because they love you. Don't make your brothers sad."
"Hmph..." Zhen Tian intertwined her little hands, pouted, and muttered something to herself.
Ji Yuzhi wasn't in the mood to pay attention to her; he was in excruciating pain all over. He figured it would be better to let the girl complain. He thought to himself, trying to amuse himself.
Lu Yiran and his family waited at home for a long time, but their parents didn't come to ask him about the fight. After a while, they realized his younger sister hadn't told on him. But how could his sister, that tattletale, not tell on him?
After all, Lu Yiran was already in the third grade and was a smart child. After thinking for a moment, he realized that Ji Yuzhi had coaxed his sister.
Although she was unhappy that he had taken away her cute little sister, her attitude towards him improved a lot.
…………
In the blink of an eye, Zhen Tian is already in the sixth grade of elementary school.
Her brothers and Ji Yuzhi were not on the same campus as her.
Zhen Tian suddenly felt very uncomfortable with the cold and quiet atmosphere around her.
She walked out of the elementary school store, holding a yogurt, and drinking it as she walked, biting on a straw.
During class, her math teacher said a few words to her, and she got very angry. Even though it was her own mistake, she must have felt embarrassed in front of so many people.
She was kicking pebbles on the playground when her math teacher walked past her. She saw him, but kept her head down and pretended not to see him.
She's annoyed and I don't want to talk to her.
The two brushed past each other.
The math teacher stopped and turned around, puzzled.
"Zhen Tian?" Is this child really angry with me? She didn't even greet me.
"Why did you call me?!" Zhen Tian stomped her foot inwardly.
She bit her lower lip, telling herself not to panic. Zhizhi had taught her what to do when a lie was about to be exposed: strike first. Zhizhi's teachings were always right.
After hesitating for two seconds, she turned around and bowed as if she had just seen the teacher: "Oh, hello teacher, I didn't see you?"
The teacher looked at her with a smile: "Are you still angry with the teacher?"
She thought to herself, how could she possibly presume to understand a well-behaved child like that? She really was wrong; this child was so innocent and naive, how could she possibly have so many thoughts?
Zhen Tian rolled her eyes and obediently replied, "I'm angry, but I know it's my fault."
The teacher's gaze softened, and she felt a little guilty. She had been in a bad mood that day and had taken her anger out on the children. The more she thought about it, the more guilty she felt.
"Honey, the teacher was also wrong; she shouldn't have said that to you in class. Shall we make up?"
"Um!"
Zhen Tian nodded, her heart filled with anxiety.
Hurry up and leave, or I'm really going to lose my temper! I'm so angry! But I can't show it, I can only say I shouldn't be angry with the teacher! So annoying! So frustrating!
Her feet unconsciously rubbed against the rubber track.
"Good girl. Go to class now. Remember to come to the teacher if you don't understand something."
"Okay, goodbye teacher!" Zhen Tian ran away quickly.
The teacher watched Zhen Tian's retreating figure from behind, a doting smile on her face: "What a good child."
Zhen Tian ran to a corner where the teacher couldn't see her and took out the cell phone her father had given her.
"Hey, Zhizhi..."
She was furious, but didn't know how to resolve it.
"What's wrong?" The bell rang for class. Ji Yuzhi glanced at the time, but still went out of the classroom to answer the phone.
"Today..." She told Ji Yuzhi about what happened in class and how she had just met the teacher. She chatted on for about ten minutes before the time was up.
"But I'm still so angry, I don't know how to vent my anger... Can you teach me too!" Zhen Tian squatted in the corner, fiddling with the empty yogurt bottle in her hand.
Ji Yuzhi never expected that the answer he had given her when she asked those nonsensical questions would actually come in handy. He couldn't help but want to laugh.
"Zhizhi, you seem to be smiling," Zhen Tian asked in surprise.
Ever since she learned that he didn't like to laugh, she dedicated herself to making him laugh and capturing the moments when he did.
"Um."
"That's great. Your happiness is my happiness." Zhen Tian's mood seemed to improve instantly.
"Go back to class first. I'll buy you chocolate milk after school."
"Okay, I also want takoyaki and fish cakes." Zhen Tian's eyes crinkled with laughter as she thought of her favorite foods.
"good."
