Chapter Four Neurological Disorders

Ji Yuzhi turned off the gas and prepared to add some salt to the freshly cooked noodles, but the salt was on the other side of the kitchen, and he had to get down from his small stool to get it. He was very dissatisfied with his height.

He sighed and brought over all the spice containers.

Lift the pot lid and turn on the heat.

What are you going to do?!

The sudden scream startled him. Before he could turn around to see who it was, the pot lid was snatched from his hand, and he was pulled off the small stool.

"Do you know how dangerous it is? How could you open fire so carelessly? You're so young, why are you thinking like this?"

After regaining my composure, I realized it was the little girl across from me.

Ji Yuzhi frowned: "How did you get in?"

"You came in without closing the door!" she said angrily, tears streaming down her face. "That's not the point. Didn't your teacher teach you not to play with fire at home?"

"Huh?" He was unusually confused.

"What?! How could you do this?!" Before she could finish speaking, tears started streaming down her face.

Ji Yuzhi glanced at the pot lid she was still holding.

"Doesn't your hand hurt?" He frowned even more deeply.

I took the pot lid and put it aside. Sure enough, her fair little hands were covered with several blood blisters, which looked shocking.

"It doesn't hurt," Zhen Tian shook her head.

Ji Yuzhi rummaged through the TV cabinet, pulled out a medical kit, took out some iodine for disinfection, and came back.

"You dare to grab a scalding hot pot lid with your bare hands?"

Zhen Tian forced a smile, but her face remained tearful: "It doesn't hurt."

No matter how angry she was, she didn't forget to reply to him.

"Sweetie!" Zhen Lei called out to her breathlessly, just about to scold her.

"Dad!" Zhen Tian cried even harder when she saw the person who came. She grabbed Ji Yuzhi, who was disinfecting his hands, with her hands blistered from the burns: "He's trying to commit suicide!"

"What!"

Zhen Lei forgot about scolding Zhen Tian and focused on the neighbor's child.

Ji Yuzhi sighed and put down the iodine in his hand. "Hello, Uncle. I just wanted to cook a meal."

"Cook?"

Zhen Lei looked around the kitchen.

"Cooking?" Zhen Tian repeated after her father, tilting her head to look at Ji Yuzhi.

“Yes, cook.” Xiao Jiyu repeated helplessly.

"Where are your parents?" Zhen Lei asked seriously.

"Uncle, don't ask me about it yet. Take her to the hospital first." Ji Yuzhi lifted Zhen Tian's hand to show Zhen Lei.

"Oh my, my darling, what happened to you?" Zhen Lei picked up Zhen Tian with heartache.

She reached out and snatched the lid from the pot that I had just opened.

Ji Yuzhi said this.

"Dad will take you to the hospital." Zhen Lei took two steps forward, then thought for a moment and came back to lead Ji Yuzhi to his home.

"Honey, make something for the child. We'll talk when I get back."

"Hey, isn't that the boy next door?"

"Hello, Auntie, my name is Ji Yuzhi."

He didn't know how things had turned out this way, but he knew his peaceful weekend was over.

But he didn't know that he would never have a peaceful weekend again, or even a peaceful day.

…………

Lu Ti learned about Ji Yuzhi's situation during the meal.

When he returned, Ji Yuzhi repeated it to Zhen Lei.

Zhen Tian was licking her ice cream while glancing over here.

"Since your parents aren't here these two days, Xiaoyu can eat at Auntie's house," Feng Ti said with a smile. "It's also a good opportunity for you to play with Tiantian. You're about the same age, so you can help Auntie keep an eye on her."

Ji Yuzhi really didn't want to agree, but he was curious: "Why doesn't Zhen Tian's hand hurt?"

"Ah..." Lu Ti and Zhen Lei exchanged a glance, and finally Lu Ti said, "This is a secret. Can Xiao Yu promise Auntie to keep it a secret?"

"Can."

"Actually, Sweetie has a neurological disorder, which means she can't feel pain. Do you understand?"

"able."

Lu Ti was still trying to figure out how to explain when she saw that the boy seemed to really understand.

“I’ve seen it in a book,” Ji Yuzhi added, seeing Lu Ti’s skepticism.

"So from now on, I'll have to trouble Xiaoyu to take good care of Tiantian." Although Lu Ti was surprised, she still patted Ji Yuzhi's head in a friendly manner.

He hesitated for a moment.

"……good."

…………

Two days later, Ji Yuzhi's parents returned.

The Zhen couple, who had been keeping an eye on their neighbors across the street, opened their door immediately.

"Yuzhi's parents, can we talk?"

During the conversation, the Zhen family learned that Ji Yuzhi's parents were both geologists who often had to survey the geological conditions of different regions, so they rarely had time to be at home.

Lu Ti felt more and more sorry for the child as she listened.

"From now on, when you're not home, let Xiaoyu come over to my house for dinner."

"How could I possibly accept that?" Ji Yuzhi's mother, Liu Ye, was a university professor and spoke in a very polite manner.

“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. The two children are even attending the same school, which is a rare coincidence,” Zhen Lei added. “The two children get along well, and we feel at ease knowing that they can play together in the future.”

Ji Yuzhi looked at the scene before him with a headache.

Zhen Tian quietly walked up to him with a bag of snacks in her hand and tugged at his sleeve: "You eat."

"Thank you." Ji Yuzhi took it but didn't open it.

"What do geologists do? Do they investigate addresses like detectives? That's so cool!" The girl looked at him with bright, sparkling eyes.

Ji Yuzhi felt his head throb even more. Unable to withstand Zhen Tian's persistent nagging, he began to explain the difference between geology and geography to her.

“Look how well the two children get along. You shouldn’t refuse,” Lu Ti said.

"Alright then, we'll pay for your meals every month."

Ji Quanzhou took out his wallet, but Zhen Lei pressed it back down: "What are you doing! Put it back now, or we really won't take care of this kid anymore."

Seeing Ji Quanzhou put his wallet away, Zhen Lei smiled and said, "It's just one more pair of chopsticks, don't overthink it. It's all for the child's good. Don't you agree?"

Seeing that the Zhen family genuinely cared about Ji Yuzhi, Ji's parents exchanged a glance and then smiled.

"Thank you so much."

The Zhen family parents were just as hospitable as Zhen Tian. The Ji family parents even had dinner there, and the two men drank until midnight before returning to their respective houses.

Ji Yuzhi gradually felt that he was losing control of the situation.

Zhen Tian tugged at his clothes and fell asleep on the floor.

He sighed again.

He pulled his hand away from hers and walked out of Zhen Tian's room.

"Uncle and Aunt, Zhen Tian is asleep on the floor. Let's carry her to bed, or she'll catch a cold."

After saying that, she nudged her drunken father and said, "Dad, it's time to go home."

"Uncle and Aunt, it's late, we should go now. We've troubled you today." He bowed slightly, then got up and let his mother carry his father back home.

Zhen Lei and Lu Ti exchanged a glance.

"What a good child."
