Chapter Three: Dad, He Wants to Commit Suicide

Zhen Tian's family situation was both complicated and somewhat complicated. When Zhen Lei learned he was pregnant, he was overjoyed, wanting nothing more than to pluck stars from the sky for his unborn baby. After much deliberation, he decided to quit his stable civil service job, using his savings and a loan to open a large supermarket. As Zhen Tian grew older, Zhen Lei's supermarket chain had expanded to four locations in the city. With financial worries resolved, Lu Ti also quit her job to focus on raising their child at home.

The complexity lies not in the parents, but in their families. Zhen Lei's parents had four brothers, while Lu Ti's parents had five. Lu Ti was the only girl in her generation and grew up pampered. However, after they all married and established themselves, all of Zhen Tian's five uncles and aunts had sons. This left Zhen Tian as the only girl in the family, receiving undisguised doting affection from her five older brothers and three younger uncles.

Zhen Tian grew up in a life that can be described as smooth sailing. Because of her poor health, her family has always doted on her and protected her.

Because Lu Ti's parents had her late in life, Zhen Tian has an uncle, Lu Yinuo, who is three years older than her, and another uncle, who is 13 years older than her and still unmarried.

Therefore, family relationships are so complex that a table is needed.

Zhen Tian's brothers were hiding in the school's elementary, middle, and high school grades. So when they learned that Zhen Tian had been wronged, even her uncles, who couldn't bear to leave their sister, went to a university not far away and came over.

Suddenly, a group of boys and men ran onto the field.

Xiao Jiyu stopped when he saw this scene. He watched as a group of people surrounded two little boys, one of whom was his classmate. Before they could do anything, the two boys burst into tears.

Xiao Jiyu found it uninteresting and wandered off again.

The homeroom teacher rushed over, learned about the situation, and apologized to Zhen Tian's family.

"I'm so sorry, it's my fault as the teacher for not keeping a close eye on the children."

Zhen Tian stood in the middle, her little hands held by her brothers, sobbing softly.

The eldest uncle, Zhen Yan, stepped forward: "Teacher, please don't misunderstand. We're not here to cause trouble, we're just here to understand the situation. You see, the children have caused trouble, shouldn't we call their parents to come and talk to them?"

The teacher hesitated for a moment. Wasn't this... here to cause trouble?

While waiting for her parents to arrive, Zhen Tian was taken out to eat KFC by her brothers, and stopped crying after being coaxed with two ice cream cones.

When the parents arrived, they were met with these teenagers and didn't take them seriously at all.

But Zhen Tian's brothers taught them a vivid lesson—never underestimate someone.

The eldest brother and the third uncle were the main conversationalists, while the younger ones continued to watch Zhen Tian from the sidelines, while the youngest brother, Lu Lin, threatened the child to apologize to Zhen Tian in front of the other parents.

The entire process, from parents to children, was handled by the same person. They apologized, received compensation, and left both sets of parents exhausted.

Finally, the homeroom teacher received the comment: "I think that with this precedent, things that make Tian Tian unhappy won't happen in the class anymore, don't you think?"

What could she say? She was helpless too.

…………

Ji Yuzhi has always been alone. He is used to this kind of life and even thinks that if someone is noisy around him, he would definitely be so annoyed that he would want to punch them.

After finishing his homework at night, he habitually went to the balcony to look at the night view, not because he liked it, but because he didn't know what to do.

His balcony and Zhen Tian's balcony were connected, separated by a low wall. He could climb over it by himself without an adult, but he wasn't interested.

In contrast to the vibrant flowers and plants on Zhen Tian's balcony, his balcony looked incredibly desolate, with nothing but a chair that he had dragged out of the kitchen.

Recently, Zhen Tian has also taken to going to the balcony after dinner. Unlike Ji Yuzhi, she does this because she has a succulent plant on the balcony, which she chose herself, and therefore takes better care of it than other plants. Watering it after dinner is her daily routine.

As Zhen Tian came out with her small water bottle, she immediately spotted Ji Yuzhi from next door.

She seemed startled, threw down the small water bottle, and ran back to her room.

The sound of the kettle hitting the ground made Ji Yuzhi glance at the next room.

His eyes were filled with suspicion, a look that didn't match his age at all.

He had seen the girl next door a few times before, and she was quite different then. She was a bit crazy and bouncy, just like the other girls in school, and she always tried to talk to him when she saw him, but he ignored her.

But lately, she turns and runs away whenever she sees him. Could it be that his cold attitude has scared her?

She was still just a child, so Ji Yuzhi didn't feel anything about it. Anyway, he liked her, and he was happier without her nagging.

Time slowly passed.

One Saturday.

Elementary school is on holiday.

Ji Yuzhi woke up early in the morning and found the note left by his parents.

(My dear Xiaoyu, Mommy and Daddy are going back to work again, but we'll be back in two or three days. There's money on the table, so buy yourself some food. Mommy and Daddy love you.)

Ji Yuzhi glanced at it, scoffed, crumpled the note, and threw it into the trash can.

After quickly finishing his homework, Ji Yuzhi went to the refrigerator, cleaned out the spoiled items, put them in a bag, and threw them by the door, intending to throw them away downstairs after dinner.

Zhen Tian begged her parents for a long time before they allowed her to go downstairs to play on the slide.

She opened her front door and put on her shoes at the entrance, noticing that her brother's door across the street was also open.

"That's so dangerous."

She was halfway through putting on her shoes when she secretly opened the door to his house, thinking of reminding him to make sure the door was closed properly.

She crouched low and sneaked inside. The living room was empty. She straightened up and looked around.

The layouts of the houses are all the same, but his house looks much bigger than mine.

The sounds of clattering and clanging came from the kitchen.

She hesitated for a moment, but still carefully walked towards the kitchen.

"Brother... Brother..." she whispered.

She walked into the kitchen and happened to see Ji Yuzhi calmly and expressionlessly turning on the gas.

"What are you doing!" she cried out as she lunged at him.

Zhen Lei turned around and said a few words to his wife. When he turned back again, the child who was putting on his shoes at the door was gone.

He shook his head: "This child is too playful."

However, this lively demeanor is still a welcome improvement from how timid he was a while ago. A child's temperament truly changes every day.

He searched downstairs but couldn't find Zhen Tian.

In a panic, he ran home and called his wife to come out and look for him.

It's unclear what emotions compelled him to go inside the open door across the street.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Zhen Tian standing intact in the living room of the house across the street.

Just as he was about to reprimand him, Zhen Tian grabbed Ji Yuzhi and shouted, "Dad, he's going to commit suicide!"
