Chapter 10 Suddenly I Have a Life Goal

It's only six or seven miles from Linjiagou Village to Huandong Town; if you're fast on your feet, it only takes half an hour to walk there.

Lin Chaonan headed straight for the clinic with a clear goal in mind. Seeing that the clinic was very busy, he didn't go in to disturb the doctor and patients, but stood outside and waited.

They waited until it got dark.

"Brother, I've seen you waiting here for ages, is there something you need?"

The people in the clinic had noticed Lin Chaonan standing by the door for a while, but they were too busy to greet him. Now that they finally had some free time, a kind-hearted shop assistant came out to inquire about him.

"Young man, it's like this, my mother asked me to bring some medicinal herbs over, and I wanted to ask if your clinic would accept them. The herbs are all here, I wonder if you could help me take a look?"

Lin Chaonan took the basket off his back and smiled shyly at the shop assistant.

The man peered inside and saw that the herbs, which were already malnourished due to the drought, were wilted. However, there were indeed some medicinal herbs that their clinic lacked, but he couldn't say for sure.

"Well, I'll go ask Dr. Li at my clinic; he's the manager. But I can't guarantee it will work."

Lin Chaonan was naturally delighted with the waiter's enthusiastic help and thanked him repeatedly.

"Thanks, young man!"

Lin Chaonan stood there for a short while, and then saw the enthusiastic shop assistant from before come out with an old man in his forties or fifties. If he wasn't mistaken, this old man was the doctor Li, the clinic owner the shop assistant had mentioned. He quickly stepped forward and gave an awkward bow.

"Hello, Dr. Li!"

Doctor Li was not at all surprised that Lin Chaonan would recognize him. His Li Family Clinic had been in Huandong Town for decades, if not a hundred years. He had been learning to recognize herbs from his father in the clinic since he could read, and had treated countless people. It was normal for the villagers in the surrounding area to know him.

"Hello young man! I didn't expect you to know about herbs. To be honest, my clinic has specialized herbal medicine merchants. We don't usually accept loose herbs unless they are precious ones."

However, due to the drought over the past year, the herbal medicine merchants have been unable to supply enough herbs. To be honest, the clinic is really short of herbs. I have looked at all the herbs you dug up, and the clinic only accepts these few: Polygala tenuifolia, Pinellia ternata, Dianthus superbus, Rehmannia glutinosa, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis.

Do you know how to process medicinal herbs? If not, you can send them over directly, and they can learn how. It's just that the price is much cheaper than pre-processed herbs.

Doctor Li did not look down on Lin Chaonan just because he was a young man. When Lin Chaonan shamelessly asked how to process medicinal herbs, he did not hold back. Knowing that Lin Chaonan would definitely not remember so many, he still carefully explained the processing methods of various medicinal herbs.

He admires hardworking young men, whether they are from his own family or strangers.

"It's okay if you can't remember them. Bring the herbs you don't know how to process tomorrow. I'll teach them then, and you can come along and watch and learn. As for whether you can learn them, that's up to you."

After saying that, Doctor Li patted Lin Chaonan on the shoulder and then turned and went back to the clinic.

Lin Chaonan touched the spot where Dr. Li had taken a picture, his eyes shining brightly as he looked at Dr. Li's back.

This was the first time someone had encouraged him, and suddenly he had a goal in life.
