Chapter 40 Beth's Feelings

Coming to Beth's side, Xu Mo moved gently and slowly squatted on one knee.

His eyes fell on the body of the woman in front of Beth, a trace of pity flashed in his eyes, and he whispered: "Is this your mother?"

"Yes, she is my mother." Beth's voice was low and nasal, as if something was choked in her throat.

After she finished speaking, she slowly raised her tear-stained face, her eyes red and swollen, with endless sorrow in her eyes, and looked at Xu Mo and said:

"Xu Mo, I thought I could face it calmly, but when I saw her... I couldn't help it."

Seeing this, Xu Mo's eyes were full of heartache, and he began to comfort her: "Beth, I know this is very painful, but you have to be strong and accept this. If your mother and Shane knew that you were so sad, they would be sad too."

Beth lowered her head when she heard this, her shoulders trembling slightly, and she sobbed non-stop. After a while, she slowly raised her head again, with a hint of confusion and inquiry in her eyes, and looked at Xu Mo and asked:

"Xu Mo, do you think all this really has any meaning? The fact that we are alive."

In his previous life, Xu Mo pondered the question of whether life has meaning many times when he was depressed and lost in self-contemplation. Therefore, Xu Mo has his own unique and profound insights on this aspect.

"No, life has no meaning." Xu Mo answered immediately without any hesitation, with a detached and indifferent look in his eyes.

"Ah?" Beth's eyes widened instantly, her eyes full of confusion, and she looked at Xu Mo in disbelief.

She originally thought Xu Mo would say that life is meaningful and then say some warm words to comfort her, but she didn't expect Xu Mo to actually say that life has no meaning.

She frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and then asked, "Since life has no meaning, why do you still want to live?"

Xu Mo raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing a gentle smile, and said: "Although life has no meaning, the living people are meaningful."

"Is there any difference between the two?" The confusion in Beth's eyes grew stronger. This question was too profound and philosophical. She couldn't understand it for a moment, and her eyes were full of confusion.

Xu Mo continued to speak patiently:

"'Life has no meaning' because life itself has no inherent value, while 'life has meaning' because everyone has their own experiences, relationships, emotions, choices, and contributions, and these things give everyone their own unique meaning."

“Simply put, life has no meaning, but every person who lives has their own unique meaning.”

"Every living person has his or her own unique meaning." Beth repeated Xu Mo's words in her mind. A hint of realization flashed in her eyes, as if she understood a little, but she still seemed to not understand it very well, and her thoughts lingered on the edge of understanding.

She looked at Xu Mo again, with a hint of expectation in her eyes, and asked: "Then Xu Mo, what is the unique meaning of me?"

Xu Mo's eyes were firm, and he spoke seriously:

"Of course, live well, for those who care about you and for yourself."

"Think about it, aren't there still many people who care about you? Like Hershel, Maggie, and all of us."

"Everyone... does this include you?" Beth asked immediately with a glimmer of anticipation in her eyes.

"Of course. Who do you think is squatting in front of you and talking to you?" Xu Mo looked at Beth sincerely and seriously, his eyes revealing undisguised concern.

Beth felt a warm feeling in her heart when she heard this, and the sadness and despair that had been lingering in her heart also dissipated a lot.

Looking at Xu Mo's face, Beth's heart was in a fierce tangle, and her eyes were full of struggle. She was hesitating whether to say what she had always wanted to say to Xu Mo.

If Xu Mo agreed, everyone would be happy; if Xu Mo disagreed, she would not know what to do and would be filled with fear.

If you speak, you may fail, but if you don’t speak, you are already failing.

Thinking of this, a hint of determination flashed in Beth's eyes, and she finally made up her mind.

She mustered up her courage, looked at Xu Mo and said, "Xu Mo, I have something to tell you."

Xu Mo nodded slightly, with encouragement in his eyes, and said, "Well, go ahead."

Hearing this, Beth took a deep breath to calm herself down, then said seriously: "Xu Mo, I like you. Although I know you already have Amy, I don't mind. No matter how many women you have in the future, as long as you have a place for me in your heart, it's fine. So can you let me be your woman too?"

Xu Mo's eyes widened slightly, with a hint of surprise in them. Although Xu Mo had anticipated this day when he talked with Amy before, he didn't expect that Beth would say these words so quickly, so directly and boldly.

I can only say that he is like this because he is handsome, and he also has the help of the harem aura.

Beth was originally one of his targets, and since Beth said so on her own initiative, he couldn't refuse.

Xu Mo didn't let Beth wait for long. With a gentle look in his eyes, he replied immediately: "If you don't mind being my woman, there will always be a place for you in my heart."

When Beth heard Xu Mo agree, her eyes widened with disbelief. She felt like she was dreaming and everything was so unreal.
