Chapter 22 Breaking the Limit

His answer silenced everyone present. Seeing that something was wrong, the man naturally thought of some problems, so he asked, "Okay, so what do they plan to let us drive?"

"It's not a plane!"

"Maybe it's an aerospace fighter?"

"Has technology developed so quickly? I remember we just found a solution to the black barrier before the war. It's only been a few years?"

Soon everyone was talking at once, which relieved everyone's stress. By diverting attention elsewhere, the real conflict was less likely to emerge.

Although playing the ostrich is despicable, it is true. At least they don't intend to let people fight to their death. After each trainee finishes the test, there are only two states - either come back standing or come back lying down.

To gain something, one must always lose something. This is Mencius's conclusion, and it is also a truth in the material world.

The team slowly moved, and the person in front of No. 032 was also swallowed by the small door, and behind the pilot behind Jiang Ling, a group of guys who were unaware of the truth gathered together.

The same argument was brought up again by the next person, and Jiang Ling and the others listened quietly. As the saying goes, the first time is strange, the second time is familiar. This time, they were no longer as frightened as before, but instead were interested in watching the fun of the next person.

This feeling is truly amazing. Their discussions not only deepen existing impressions but also help people uncover original misunderstandings. Perhaps this is what the saying "hearing both sides leads to a clearer picture" means: when everyone's analysis is collected, the full picture of the matter is revealed.

After a while, the small door opened again, spitting out a poor guy covered in liquid - this guy's stress response was sweating, which was at least better than being dragged out.

He did not ask for help, but crawled to No. 033 on all fours, wiping his head with his clothes.

No. 032 took a step forward, grabbed the door frame with one hand, struck a cool pose towards Jiang Ling, and said, "No. 067, I'll go first."

The small door closed again, and Jiang Ling watched it close again.

At some point, she regretted having seen this scene, and an inexplicable fear rushed into her heart. It seemed that two forces were fighting in her head, one was her existing curiosity, and the other was a sense of crisis.

She felt like she was standing on the edge of a battlefield, with no more cover in front of her.

If she chose to move forward, the sounds of artillery shells and bullets would pass by her ears; if she chose to retreat, a solid barrier would immediately appear behind her, with countless invisible tentacles extending from the barrier, as if to tie her up; looking left and right, the wounded were still struggling in the trenches, and it seemed that they had not yet accepted their defeat.

Jiang Ling took a step forward, and the next moment, all the illusions disappeared.

Her hand touched the small door, and her psychic power penetrated the fragile polymer door panel. Behind the small door was still a small door, and Jiang Ling could not see further.

Perhaps it was pointless to dwell on this, she suddenly remembered her purpose. Her choice had already been made, and this project was just a valley along the way.

We should not be afraid when encountering difficulties...

Jiang Ling's lips curled up, the memory of the braised egg making her smile. She stopped thinking about the unknown and stayed by the door, arms folded across from her chest, examining the two squatting guys opposite with a scrutinizing attitude.

Their memories appeared in her eyes.

She "saw" herself being tied to a chair with a five-point safety belt, with a palm-sized screen in front of her and countless flashing indicator lights surrounding the screen.

She "saw" that the outside world was spinning, the chandeliers on the ceiling gradually connected into a straight line, the light kept flickering, and all the scenery was stretched and began to blur.

She "saw" that her field of vision became very narrow, the blood supply to her retina became insufficient, and some gray-black spots began to appear in her vision. At some point, she noticed the screen.

The numbers on the screen kept jumping until they stabilized at a critical point. She was surprised by the number, which seemed a little too exaggerated.

The small door was opened a crack, and No. 032 walked out. His steps were a little weak, and it seemed that the situation inside had indeed dealt him a fatal blow.

"It's your turn. It's so cool in there!" He stopped at the door and made an inviting gesture to Jiang Ling.

After passing through two doors, Jiang Ling came to the inside of the circular room.

The room as a whole is somewhat like a donut, with a long window facing the door. There are several people in white clothes standing outside the window. It seems that this should be the control room of the centrifuge.

A giant mallet in the center of the room drew most of her attention. It was essentially white, with the cockpit canopy flipped open at one end and a square counterweight at the other. Inside the cockpit were what looked like airplane seats, though they were a type Jiang Ling had never seen before.

This centrifuge is quite large. Under the heavy cabin, there is a circular guide rail with a roller resting on it, supporting part of the weight of the cabin.

Two people in white clothes and white hats came over, put Jiang Ling on the seat, attached some sensors to her body, and carefully checked the seat belt that fastened her.

They pulled a handle from the side of the seat, on which were some buttons with different functions. Jiang Ling had seen them in the theoretical knowledge of the previous two days.

"This is just a test, so most of the buttons are useless," a staff member repeated several times. "Hold your hand like this: your index finger is the confirm button, and your thumb is the stop button. Don't get it wrong."
