The training began without any warning.
Just as everyone was still waiting for the person in charge to arrive, a flexible curtain as big as the door was suddenly lowered at the gate, blocking all the light coming in from outside. Then the clear water and blue sky in the room disappeared in an instant. The crowd, who could not adapt to the change in brightness, immediately stopped talking. Most of them stood there in a daze. It was a kind of biological instinct-like protective mechanism of the brain.
After a while, the people who reacted found themselves surrounded by stars. The faint starlight could only allow them to barely distinguish their own position from that of others, but they could not distinguish the appearance of the people around them.
Jiang Ling felt a slight tightening in her right hand, and then she felt something warm close to her ear.
"Someone is using psychic sensing to do bad things." Tang Wanzhou reminded in a low voice.
"I understand. Just protect yourself. Everything is under control." Jiang Ling answered straightforwardly.
There was no mistaking it; the psychic fluctuations were identical to yesterday's. She quickly pinpointed the culprit among the hidden crowd. This guy's psychic abilities weren't very strong, only average for the cult. This left Jiang Ling unsure where he'd gotten the courage to cause trouble in this wolves-infested area. Generally speaking, a dog on a chain barks loudest, and those who don't understand how to assess the situation are likely pawns being manipulated.
After a while, the crowd "spontaneously" dispersed and surrounded the guy who was secretly doing evil, so that he could no longer use other people's bodies for cover.
Seeing that the truth was revealed, the man immediately realized that he had misjudged Jiang Ling's strength, but he did not surrender. Instead, he took a stance without showing any sign of weakness, as if he wanted to exchange a few moves with her.
Jiang Ling didn't squeeze into the crowd. Instead, she used the mouth of a passing trainee to shout at him, "Besides you, who else did it? Where is Chen Bufan now?"
The stranger didn't dare to be careless. He took a few steps away from the source of the voice, then opened his arms as if he was standing on a podium and said, "We are human too! Why didn't you give us the opportunity to go to the new world? Your people are short-sighted, stupid, and incompetent. You abandoned us. We must take back everything that belongs to us!" He looked around and didn't find the so-called contact person, so he began to shout hysterically: "I am still useful! I found their mastermind. He is right here, he is right here!"
He repeated "He's here" many times, for periods of time as long as it takes for polyethylene plastic to completely weather.
Jiang Ling found that what he said was very similar to those of the tribes west of Jinling, but this alone could not allow her to confirm the man's true identity.
The stranger gradually stopped repeating himself. The silence of the people around him was like a heavy hammer hitting him deep within. He had never seen such a disparity in power before. No matter how hard he tried, he could not wrest any control from that terrifying being. His failure was so complete that he was completely utterly defeated in the first encounter.
"Are you from Xijing United?" Jiang Ling finally spoke.
"How do you know... No, I have never betrayed the order!" The man didn't react for a moment and gave away his true intentions in his words.
"Which tribe are you from? Don't tell me you are from the Red Moon Tribe. I seem to remember that they were still fighting with Shu until last year. They don't have the energy to send troops to the Magic City!" Jiang Ling asked tentatively.
