Chapter 8: Tiger's Den and Wolf's Lair

These strangers who had just met became familiar with each other in just one day. They gathered in groups of three or five, as if they were back in college.

Everyone misses the past, but time wears away those bad memories, leaving only some beautiful, hazy images. This results in campus artworks often being painted with a fairytale color, with the overall color tone being extremely distorted, like a dream, making it difficult for the audience to immerse themselves in it.

Jiang Ling, the old woman, was clearly no exception. The feeling of things changing and people changing made her feel even older. Beneath her youthful exterior, her soul, from another world, still held onto the concepts of ordinary people. This way of thinking, unable to adapt to the long lifespan of mutants, caused her both pain and confusion.

Maybe living too long isn't a good thing?

For Jiang Ling, it might be too early to think like this. Even if she calculated it based on her birth time before traveling through time, she was just a person who had just come to know her destiny, and was far from being an immortal.

She had no goals now, or rather, the short-sighted goals she had set had already been achieved without her realizing it. Her insular nature had kept her confined to her own small circle. For a long time, she had been pushed forward by others, like a tool.

Jiang Ling raised her head and took a look, but it was not someone she knew.

He had a scar over his left eye and a side-swept bang, his hair a familiar gray. He was wearing a bomber jacket, unzipped to reveal the lining underneath, which was a number 4 jersey.

"Hey! It's so rude of you to control others like this!" He raised his chin and pointed his nose at Jiang Ling.

There were also a few people gathered behind him, all wearing jerseys, looking like a youth gang.

"A good dog doesn't block the road!" Jiang Ling gave a kind smile.

She never caused trouble herself, so she tried to go around from the side, but was blocked by the man again. Soon, her retreat route was also blocked by the crowd.

"Wow~ You are quite skilled in using your psychic powers? Where did you learn that?" Jiang Ling showed no sign of shyness.

The man smiled and did not answer, but asked the people behind him to go on stage together.

They pulled out a few oral liquid bottles from their trouser pockets, opened the lids, and poured the liquid into their mouths. After a while, Jiang Ling felt that their spiritual power had increased in strength.

"Since we are both psychics, I won't use too much force!" Jiang Ling finally understood their purpose.
