"Ah?" Jiang Ling was confused.
"You've been looking there for a long time! Are you going to choose this one?" Ruan Danxin teased.
"No, I'm just curious." Jiang Ling explained, then asked the apprentice, "Do you have the 28-style and 35-style here?"
The apprentice stared at the small dent and broke out in a cold sweat. Jiang Ling asked him three times before he came to his senses: "Yes, yes! It's here!"
Several people followed the apprentice through two rows of various vehicles, and dozens of armored vehicles that looked exactly the same appeared in front of everyone.
"These are all Type 28 tanks, but the ones parked here are in rather poor condition. Those that have been repaired have been driven to the military supply warehouse." The apprentice brought the three people to a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle and introduced it.
The vehicle was painted in a typical plains field paint scheme, standing approximately 3.2 meters tall, with some rust forming along the armored junctions. The vehicle overall resembled a coffin, with its front and rear corners cut into sharply angled sections.
"I heard that this is a purely electronically controlled tank? Why doesn't it look like one?" Jiang Ling asked.
The apprentice shook his head and replied, "I wasn't even born when this chariot was unveiled! It should have been scrapped long ago. Who knows how many they actually built back then."
Jiang Ling walked around the side of the chariot and opened the small door next to the driver's seat. She saw that the interior resembled a large truck, but the controls were similar to those of an electric car. "Will this start?" Jiang Ling climbed in and carefully inspected the driver's field of view.
"It's okay to start the car, just don't drive out!" The apprentice's voice came from outside the chariot. The three of them had already moved aside.
Jiang Ling fumbled around under the steering wheel and discovered that this model of tank had a one-touch starter. She then crawled under the seat, where she found two pedals of varying sizes. It seemed the tank was based on a car, and she had no idea how powerful the engine was. She had heard that tank engines were essentially airplane engines, but she had no idea what a tank engine would be like.
She ultimately didn't start the chariot. Of course, she did press the start button twice, but the poorly maintained iron coffin was probably out of power, so the one-button start—start wasted. As she was about to exit, the door jammed. This chariot wasn't powerful, but it had a bad temper. Fortunately, Jiang Ling was quite strong, and after a bit of fiddling, the small door was completely broken.
"Looks like this one can be scrapped." Jiang Ling jumped down from the chariot, holding up a door. She casually threw the door onto the seat, and the sharp and heavy edge of the door cut the foam on the seat in half. "The engine won't start. The seat belt is broken. And three of the five observation windows are broken. I can't see anything else."
"Is it already so broken?" The apprentice stared blankly at Jiang Ling getting off the car, and then watched Jiang Ling walk around to the back and open the small side door of the chariot. Before he could react, another sound of metal hitting the ground was heard.
"Damn it!" Jiang Ling took two steps back. The chariot's cockpit was coated in a layer of hardened blood, and a musty stench filled her nostrils. Could this chariot have been pulled back from the battlefield?
She quickly stepped back and then squatted on the ground for a long time. Only then did she realize that there was a big hole in the bottom of the tank. The fragments only penetrated the bottom layer of armor, so there was no visible hole around it.
"What's going on with this car?" Jiang Ling asked the apprentice in the distance.
The apprentice didn't dare to follow Jiang Ling's example and go around to the back to take a look. He just kept shaking his head to indicate that he didn't know.
At this moment, a loud voice came from the warehouse door: "Xiaoliang! Where have you been? I've told you so many times, don't touch those AMS-50s!"
"Master Wang! I'm in the fifth row!" the apprentice shouted towards the door.
After a while, the middle-aged man in work clothes who had just been seen came running over in a hurry. When he saw the carcass of the chariot parked here, he immediately became furious and scolded the apprentice.
"I'm so sorry." The man in work clothes said to Jiang Ling after sending the apprentice away, "This kid hasn't been here long, I'm sorry I didn't treat him well enough~"
Jiang Ling squatted in front of the sixth row of tanks, staring at the hole for a long time before speaking, "Have you finalized your deal?"
The man in overalls was stunned for a moment, then laughed and said, "Don't mention it. Those searchers really have too many demands. They want everything and are unwilling to spend money. It's hard for me to deal with it~"
"Alright." Jiang Ling sighed softly. She gestured with her chin to the man in overalls to look at the tank in front of her, then asked, "Do you have a Type 35 in better condition? Not one of those battle-damaged ones."
The middle-aged man in overalls clearly knew more about the inside story. He didn't follow Jiang Ling's gaze towards the car, but replied directly, "We have everything. It's just that the kid doesn't know what's good! I'll take you to see it."
As he spoke, he was about to walk in another direction, and Jiang Ling hurried to follow.
The apprentice named "Xiao Liang" really didn't know what was going on. The tanks here were parked in a certain pattern—the closer they were to the warehouse door, the more worn they were. Jiang Ling and the others followed the man in work clothes for a while before finally stopping at the end of the warehouse.
The man in overalls introduced, "The one on the left is a Type 28, and the one on the right is a Type 35. If you're going west, I suggest a Type 35. The tracked one has better passability. But no matter which way you go, it's best to ask where the mines are laid first." He swallowed and continued, "The ones parked at the door were recycled a while ago, and some are just upgrades." He suddenly lowered his voice, "Don't tell anyone, some of them were accidental casualties!"
