Chapter 27 Girl's Dream

The wind gradually grew stronger. Another day had passed since I left Danxin.

Those unfamiliar guys did not make things difficult for her. Bai Wu squatted in a square cave, quietly watching the busy figures.

They had white hair and blue eyes, just like her. This brought back some fragments of her memory. She vaguely remembered meeting a gentle woman. She could no longer remember her face, but she was deeply impressed by her smile. She also remembered that the woman was combing her hair, but at that time, her hair was not the same as it is now.

A stranger handed her a piece of rhizome and demonstrated the action of "eating" to her.

These people had already figured out her identity, but they hadn't told her where she came from. They looked at her as if she were a valuable commodity, which made Bai Wu feel a little uneasy.

She didn't recognize the fragrant tuber; she couldn't remember eating it before.

Compared to this kind of food, she is more familiar with processed, colorful foods, and she likes the sweet taste. She calls that taste "the taste of red heart."

But she had never tasted this soft, sticky, sweet taste before. She couldn't describe the taste, but the pleasure of this complex interweaving of feelings slightly relieved her stress.

"Do you remember anything?" the man who handed her the food squatted in front of her and asked her.

Bai Wu pondered for a moment. Her first memory began with a thick, warm shoulder. It must have been snowing, but not as deep as it had been in recent days. She only remembered lying on top of the man, feeling his rhythmic swaying and the increasing number of footprints behind him.

How long ago was that? Danxin told her to forget it.

She shook her head and remained silent.

The squatting man stood up and tried to slap her to wake her up, but was stopped by the person behind him.

"Don't do anything! Think about why we came out! We suffered such a huge loss because of her, for this sacrifice!" said a man who looked like the leader. This guy was wearing a fur coat and looked a bit like the chief of the tribe.

The White Witch dared not move rashly. These people were all very powerful psychics. If compared with the humans in the cult, they would at least be ranked in the top 50.

On the surface, only the strong can survive.

Compared to the more docile members of the cult who argued without violence, these people's tempers were truly violent. The White Witch had seen this before; these people would fight to the death. Perhaps in their eyes, surrender was tantamount to suicide.

"It would be great if Brother Liu was here!" Bai Wu thought to herself. She remembered that the man who carried her on his back was called Brother Liu by Danxin.

In her impression, Danxin only often interacted with three people: one who was like a real sister, one who was like the older brother next door, and a kind uncle. They always acted like they had known each other for a long time, and she always listened from the side.

A few words flashed through her mind, but that was before she set off on her long journey.

Brother Liu: "The homeless people in the outer districts are going crazy. They are all running towards the green district."

Sister Xiao Ming: "Looks like you've found a solution? I can cooperate with you."

Brother Liu: "This matter still depends on Lao Xia. The believers in the central area still have to rely on him to maintain it."

Lao Xia: "I understand. Now I will let them go south from the green zone."

Danxin: "What about me?"

Brother Liu: "You go with Bai Wu to the west. Protect her and yourself. Once you reach Jinling, you'll be safe. If you have any further problems, you can ask the army for help. Just say I introduced you."

Bai Wu didn't understand what they were talking about. She just thought it was an ordinary trip. She had been on many such trips, and after each one, she could rest for a few days at a destination. Sometimes, she would long for the journey itself, and the interesting and non-dangerous unknown fascinated her.

Of course, this time should be similar. She basically witnessed what these people did with a scrutinizing attitude.

Outside the cave, those people were still arguing, and it looked like another life-and-death battle was about to begin.

"What's the point of having someone like her who knows nothing?" a man with a neck full of teeth roared. "Do you think you can just bring her in to fill the gap? The minute they ask, she'll be exposed! And then we'll all be finished!"

"Then what can you do? Go back empty-handed? That's the end of it all?" the chieftain who had appeared earlier said. "So many of us have died. Our tribe can only rely on her to survive. Otherwise, we'll have to give up all our hunting grounds! And then, we won't just be the ones dying!"

The others surrounded the two of them, and the crowd suddenly made some indescribable strange noises, and some people on the periphery even started dancing.

Then, some primitive ancient musical instruments began to play, and the excited crowd gradually dispersed. They were cheering for the two men who were shirtless in the cold wind of more than ten degrees below zero.

The strong wind blew the snow foam on the ground into dance, and the passage of time seemed to slow down.

Almost simultaneously, the two men roared in agony and fury, their bodies gradually growing larger. Thick white fur quickly grew on their bodies, their feet gradually transformed into canine-like four-legged hooves with inverted joints, their heads gradually elongated, their mouths cracked, their teeth grew wildly, and a gray tail extended from their lower backs.

Finally, two monsters that looked like werewolves from a fantasy world appeared in the clearing.

The moment their transformations were complete, the two werewolves engaged in combat. From White Witch's perspective, she couldn't tell which of the two large dogs was which. She simply watched them assault each other, clawing and biting with teeth, without any rhyme or technique. They acted solely on instinct, devoid of any of the rationality or intelligence they possessed in their human form.
