Chapter 3 Life is a Play

The room wasn't very large, and the walls were bare of unnecessary decoration. A single large red "#6" was etched on the white putty. There were two entrances, each leading to a ten-meter-long corridor. On either side of the corridor were two explosion-proof, watertight doors, though their purpose was unclear.

Everyone spontaneously formed a team and continued forward following the arrows on the wall.

At the end of the corridor was a pressurized airlock room. The isolation door on their side had opened automatically, as if someone was watching them, which made some of them nervous.

They stayed in the airtight room for a while and gradually adapted to the environment of 1.5 times the atmospheric pressure.

Soon, the isolation door on the other side opened naturally, and the scenery outside the door suddenly became clear.

A huge circular underground garden appeared before everyone. Many strange-looking plants were transplanted into the garden. They had all been strictly tested and were presumably safe and harmless.

These plants were generally reddish-purple, with twisted stems and roots that covered the entire garden like flesh and blood. They had come at the wrong time; the flowering period for these plants had already passed, and some strange-looking, warty fruits were hanging upside down above their heads.

In front of them, there were two dark-looking "old farmers" climbing on a triangular ladder, facing the fruits and recording something on the tablet in their hands.

When passing by them, someone asked the two men, "Master, what are you doing?"

"It's just a routine inspection!" one of them replied. "You guys are so lucky to have come. The fruit is just ready to eat. Want to try some?"

"What?"

"Give me one!"

The old farmer took out a pair of pliers from his white coat and, with all his strength, cut off a torpedo-shaped fruit from the slender flower stem connected to it, and then threw it to the man.

That thing looked like some kind of plug.

"What is this? And how do I eat it?"

"Just bite them!" the old farmer replied with a smile. "Genetically, they're exactly the same as the willow trees we used to have. But now we call them 'parasitic blood tumors,' and that's their fruit, called blood oil fruit. You'll know what it tastes like when you try it."

The man immediately made excuses and gave the fruit to the person behind him, and it finally came into Jiang Ling's hands.

She leaned in close and sniffed it, discovering a uniquely sweet aroma. Its surface texture was similar to human skin, wrinkled yet still somewhat elastic.

As everyone held their breath and concentrated, Jiang Ling took a bite of it, and the sour taste immediately filled her entire mouth.

Oh↘↗

Blood-red juice flowed from the corner of her mouth, then dripped along her smooth skin and onto her delicate collarbone.

"Hehe, it's so sweet, you should try it too!" Jiang Ling tried hard to control her expression and recommended it to the unaware crowd around her with the word "good".
