The journey took about a day and a night, and they had no chance to get off the train. They had to eat, drink, defecate, urinate, and sleep on the train.
As a solo female traveler who had traveled all over the metropolitan area, Jiang Ling knew clearly that the subway she was on was heading towards the rising sun and was heading to a place she had never seen.
As for the masked officer, he chatted with them for two hours, mostly about daily life at their destination. Only at the very end did he actually get everyone to move in coordination.
Men on the left and women on the right, psychics and non-psychics, those with aircraft flying experience and those without, after several rounds of shuffling and reorganization, the only young lady in this carriage sat on Jiang Ling's left.
Since she had a lot of belongings with her, it would probably take at least three days to check everything. Before then, she couldn't move into the dormitory that was supposed to be assigned to her, so she could only temporarily live with that young lady.
"Tang, Sister Tang, is it okay?"
Jiang Ling was wearing an antique-style skirt and sitting timidly on a chair by the window. Her messy hair had been groomed and was now flowing over the back of the chair.
"Don't move your fingers. And why is your neck crooked? It will be fine soon..."
Right in front of her, the female officer named Tang Wanzhou was sitting in front of a canvas with her legs crossed, comparing the oil paints on it.
On the canvas, a young girl painted in a Neo-Impressionist style sits quietly and dignifiedly on a bed, her face lightly powdered, giving her a strangely alluring aura.
"Tsk, this is weird, why does it seem more and more wrong the more I paint?" Tang Wanzhou put the paintbrush in the basin of water, grabbed his short hair, and began to doubt his own skills.
She looked ahead suspiciously at the girl who was daydreaming: "Are you here to modify my memory again?"
"How could I? I rarely do that kind of thing! I just scanned half of your brain, what's the big deal!?"
"What do you mean—a lot of big things?!!!"
The story began last night during room assignments. Unfamiliar with the area, Jiang Ling naturally clung to the only person of her sex in the train compartment. By the time Tang Wanzhou recovered from her trance, she had already dragged Jiang Ling back to her dorm in full view of everyone. She had taken advantage of Jiang Ling's deep sleep to completely break free from her "mind control."
After that, it became what it is now.
As compensation, Jiang Ling was dragged out of bed by Sister Tang early in the morning and then allowed to be tormented by her for a long time.
"Forget it, let's stop here today! I guess they will call us soon." Tang Wanzhou rubbed his eyebrows, hung the drawing board on the balcony, turned his back to the light outside the window, looked at the back of Jiang Ling's head and said.
Jiang Ling immediately stood up from her chair, raised her arms above her head, and stretched. Her joints immediately crackled, and the stagnant blood finally found a place to go.
"Sister Tang, do you know what they are going to do this time?"
Jiang Ling turned around and looked down at the female officer with her arms crossed. Beads of sweat hung on her forehead, and she didn't know what was making her so nervous.
"I, how would I know?" Tang Wanzhou stuttered. It was the first time she had seen someone more beautiful in real life than in a painting. "I, I was transferred here without knowing why!"
"Hasn't your sect ever told you that?"
"No, that's not right. What cult?"
"Okay, I'll go ask the Son of God later!"
"What! You know her? What does she look like?"
"Keep it a secret~" Jiang Ling thought of the two glutinous rice balls, one big and one small. The corners of her mouth rose and a mysterious smile appeared on her face.
Tang Wanzhou was about to continue asking questions when an AI voice came from the room, reminding him, "Test takers No. 060 to 069, please follow the blue light band outside the door to Site 6."
"It's our turn so soon?" Jiang Ling panicked. "No, I need to change my clothes quickly."
"Just wear this when you go out. You'll have to take it off naked later anyway." Tang Wanzhou said without any pity as he watched Jiang Ling tear the clothes off her body.
"No, I don't want to be notified the day before." Jiang Ling changed into a sports outfit. She hadn't forgotten the contents of the pamphlet she handed out last night. "Sister Tang, help me untie my hair! It's tangled there."
This time it only took her two minutes to get herself ready.
When I opened the door, I saw people from the dorms across the street peeking out. Several light strips of different colors flickered on the wall. Every ten seconds, a half-meter-long speck of white light would move from one end of the strip to the other. The directions of movement varied, indicating that many people were trying out at the same time.
The two walked through the long corridor, followed their own light strips, turned a few corners, and came to an elevator entrance.
This elevator didn't have the usual call buttons, only a camera-like device high up. The elevator door didn't open automatically until the two approached the waiting crowd at the door.
Ten people filed in, and except for two of them, the others were all middle-aged men.
This elevator is obviously connected to an artificial intelligence system. It knows its mission clearly, so there are no buttons inside the elevator.
Jiang Ling felt a little overweight for a moment, then returned to normal and the elevator continued to move upwards.
After a while, the elevator door opened again, and a very ordinary empty room appeared in front of everyone.
