Jinling East Station is the only known large station in this huge subway system that has not fallen and is located in the Red Zone. Large stations are usually not the modular stations built in a hurry before the war.
This large station, covering an area of over 200,000 square meters, is not only larger in area but also has more floors, with two above ground and four underground. The deepest part has penetrated into the rock layer and reached the deep groundwater.
However, considering the problem of ground subsidence, they did not exploit groundwater too much, and the drinking water rationing system was still implemented here like other places.
In reality, the rationing system here didn't cause many complaints, as this was a militarized station, and everything was for the military. Rationing was very common in the military, and the officers and soldiers simply felt that the rationing items in this war zone were a bit too many.

The second-line troops' casualty rate in the battle against the mutants was around 80 to 90 percent. The fact that they hadn't collapsed was a miracle of their system and industry. The lucky few who encountered Jiang Ling and his team had reduced the casualty rate to two-thirds, enough for them to hold a celebration.
Of course, a small number of casualties is nothing compared to a large number, nothing to brag about. The joint command planned to hold a brief evening party after the last group of soldiers returned, both to honor the heroes and to comfort the survivors. This war was far from over, at least in the eyes of those at the top. They hadn't seen the end of the war yet.
Two and a half months had passed since the end of the nuclear war. People were dying here every day, and most of the bodies were irretrievable. She saw several large screens in the station, silently playing a series of names and pass numbers. Some people, like her, would stop and watch, usually the new recruits assigned here.
Jiang Ling sensed a unique atmosphere at this site, fundamentally different from the one near her home. People there held a hope that "tomorrow will be better," while those here held a hope that "tomorrow must be survived."
It was really strange that the ordinary soldiers here actually had an easier life than the officers. Jiang Ling noticed that the ordinary soldiers still had some smiles on their faces, while those with higher ranks were always frowning.
She wandered the site all day, hoping to find some local delicacies, but she couldn't find any vendors hawking their wares in the corners. People were always in a hurry, as if driven by something. She struggled to even stop a few people to ask for directions.
This terrible station has no proper road signs at all. All the tunnels and nodes are marked with large English letters and numbers. Even if you follow the map in the station, you will get lost, not to mention someone like Jiang Ling who has a poor sense of direction.
She could only walk based on her feelings. An invisible confusion surged in her heart, and she stopped at a crossroads.
Ahead is an unknown light, as if some flashing red and green are jumping there, brilliant and dazzling, full of unknown colors.
On the left hand side, there is an endless corridor that stretches as far as the eye can see. Along the way are different house numbers and closed security doors.
On the right side, there is lightless darkness, like a huge abyss, waiting for ignorant and stupid prey to dive in.
She looked back and saw people on different routes passing by each other without stopping. Those were forks in the road, revealing different destinies and different endings.
She planned to take a break. As the saying goes, "When you stop, your journey has come to an end."
A bench appeared in front of her at the right time. She sat on it as before, put her backpack under the chair, and then crossed her legs. She breathed a sigh of relief, and then her muscles relaxed a little.
Ruan Danxin didn't follow. She was worried about the soldiers, so she followed them to look for the White Witch. If those who attacked the chariot had any sense, they would definitely continue to head south. She hoped her judgment was correct, but why did they take the White Witch away?
Jiang Ling realized she had missed something. It seemed the story about these two guys would continue. However, she was not in a hurry to continue this part. She was a little tired.
"Wow~ I didn't expect we would meet again?" A strange yet familiar person stopped in front of her, put down his things, and then sat next to Jiang Ling.

"No~" Jiang Ling realized that this person might have known her before, so she answered shyly.
