Chapter 28 Reunion

He turned his head and stared at Jiang Ling for a while, then said in a positive tone: "You must have changed a little! Should I say that you have become more human? Or that you have adapted better to this world?"

"What!!!"

"Haha~ Don't be surprised, I've encountered quite a few interesting things along the way. Let me tell you, the experimental area near Hangwan has begun to resume physics research. In my opinion, they're actually a little late to resume. This horrible world, who knows where something went wrong. Although knowing the truth won't help my life in any way now, for me, it's better to die with honor than to live a muddled life..."

As this person spoke, Jiang Ling's memory gradually became clearer, and a figure gradually overlapped with him.

"You are~Chen Mike?" Jiang Ling asked in surprise.

"Ah? I thought you noticed it from the beginning!" Chen Mike shook his hair and made a pose that he thought was very handsome.

But this guy hasn't trimmed his hair for half a month, and his beard looks a bit like a homeless person.

"Where did you go? I remember you were traveling with someone!" Jiang Ling asked curiously.

"You're talking about this? Don't you have to show some respect?" He blinked.

Jiang Ling rolled her eyes, grabbed a handful of bullets from her backpack, and then picked one and stuffed it into his arms.

The man immediately brought the bullet to his eyes, fumbled with it for a while, and said, "There's something special about this bullet. Did it come from a military channel? I went to the south, and wow, it was full of cannon crabs. It scared me to death!"

Jiang Ling reached into Chen Mike's arms and snatched the bullet back. He then replied, "I bought it at the ration store. Your authority shouldn't still be C-level, right?"

She saw the man's face turn tomato red in an instant, and then asked, "Where's your companion? Did he die there?"

Chen Mike quickly recovered and held up two fingers, saying, "Those people you saw said they were going to catch crabs. I thought they were very capable... Well, they do have some skills. They were really lucky and caught a few balls of crab eggs. I really didn't expect the crab eggs to be the same as before. Everything really starts from the smallest thing!"

Jiang Ling handed him three bullets and asked, "So after you went to the Great Lake, you also went to the experimental area further south? What's there?"

"They transferred part of their high-tech industrial production capacity there, and then built a particle accelerator with a diameter of 60 kilometers. Life in the south is really comfortable. Apart from the cold weather, there are no mutants running around." Chen Mike took the bullet, played with it in his palm and replied.

Jiang Ling gave him another bullet: "Then why did you come here?"

He shook his head, his gaze piercing the countless partitions and protective walls as he replied, "Many families there send their children to serve in the army. I'm here to take them back."

Jiang Ling stuffed all the bullets in her hand into his hand, and said as he was sweating coldly, "I don't mean to ask you so many questions. Does this count as employment?"

"Hire?" Chen Mike was a little confused.

"You don't have to do anything dangerous. Just bring them back and tell their families that they are all heroes." Jiang Ling blinked.

"Oh, so that's it." Chen Mike understood, then changed his tone and revealed his profiteer look again, "This is not enough, I need more!"

Jiang Ling glared at him, then transferred another 200 points to him for travel expenses. He was such a greedy villain. If possible, I hope I never see him again.

But at least we have to wait until he finishes his work...

Jiang Ling looked at Chen Mike's receding figure, her eyes a little dazed. When she started her journey, did her parents also look at her from afar like this?

"Ding ding ding~" The email notification sound rang out on Jiang Ling's terminal.

This is an invitation to a banquet, scheduled for tomorrow evening at 5:00 PM, in the third cafeteria on the basement level. It seems Ruan Danxin has found her best friend.

Speaking of emails, it seemed she hadn't written any and sent them home in the past few days. She found the email she hadn't sent yet, made a few minor edits, and sent it off, along with the two thousand points. The house probably looked the same as before, right?

"Is there anything else I haven't done?" Jiang Ling pondered slowly. She found herself beginning to integrate into this world. Those bizarre technological creations gradually became familiar to her, and those grotesque mutants gradually became her understanding. But she always felt like she was missing something, that there was something she had overlooked.

The two-week journey allowed her to initially familiarize herself with the world. Before she was fully grown, she began to think about going out.

Jiang Ling thought about it again and again, but couldn't come up with anything. That was roughly her vision, and she could be considered a petty bourgeois at best.

"Forget it. If you can't think of it, just pretend it doesn't exist."

She thought it would be better to let trouble find her than to look for trouble herself, so she wanted to climb to the top and let those troubles notice her.

This military station wasn't completely devoid of searchers, but they were usually retired soldiers or those who hadn't yet received their missions. They were primarily responsible for searching for survivors and victims on the surface. The Red Zone was too dangerous, and large-scale operations were a luxury, so they usually formed small teams of several, humbly and tenaciously crawling across the surface.
