Chapter 15 The Mysterious Man

The white-haired girl stopped about three meters in front of Jiang Ling. She adjusted her expression slightly, revealing a self-proclaimed kind smile, and said in her clear voice, "Big sister, you're so amazing! Do you know everything?"

Jiang Ling looked down at the little girl, who was almost as tall as her father, and her lips twitched. She had never dreamed that she would encounter a monster little girl on her journey. If that was true, then the actual age of the white-haired girl was questionable. So after a brief thought, she chose to avoid the topic and turned her attention to the other person in the room.

The nun had obviously anticipated this situation. She gracefully stood up, bowed to Jiang Ling, and then said calmly and gently, "Sir, you have misunderstood. This is just the god... Lord Dan greeting you."

Jiang Ling noticed that the nun also had silver hair. Although she kept her eyes closed the entire time, her features revealed a mature charm. Jiang Ling was tense at the moment, so she easily noticed the noticeable pause in her sentence. Suspecting something was seriously wrong, she tentatively asked, "Master Chen Dan? What a strange name. And why did you trick me into coming here?"

"Uh, ahem~ Yes, it was Shen Dan! I just bit my tongue!" The nun hurriedly explained, her eyelashes fluttering slightly as if she wanted to open them, but she eventually calmed down and continued, "We're not lying to you, Miss Shen Dan... Miss Shen Dan really does want to ask for your help!"

This plot sounded very familiar to Jiang Ling. If it were any other time, she might have just been a simple young lady trying to experience civilian life. But these two guys were mutants! And what were they hiding?

Jiang Ling felt her scalp tingle, as if she had been caught in some strange vortex, as if fate was guiding her. Why did she want to go out for a meal after taking a shower? She could obviously survive without eating for several days!

She spent a second thinking back to the events of the evening, which seemed to have some vague connection. She turned to look at the white-haired girl in front of her. Since they were so fond of acting, she would reluctantly cooperate.

"Then let's call you Xiaodan? My name is Feng Lixi, but you can also call me Sister Feng!" She thought of a name that could pass for others based on their naming style, and then carefully observed the loli in front of her.

The corners of this guy's smiling mouth twitched, and his stiff expression turned into an ugly bitter face. Then he called out in a barely audible voice: "Hello, Sister Feng~"

"Ahem~ My name is Bai Wu. You can call me Aunt Bai!" The nun in the distance coughed lightly, and her self-proclaimed name revealed a lot of information.

Seeing the two people being so polite, Jiang Ling recovered from her initial nervousness. She replied with interest, "Sister Bai, you still look very young. How about calling me sister?"

The nun's face flushed slightly when she heard this, and she nodded slightly, as if she agreed to be addressed like this.

Although they exchanged names, no further negotiations took place. This made the atmosphere in the room even more eerie, as each of the three waited for the other to speak first. As time ticked by, the only sounds they could hear were the faint sounds of heartbeats and breathing.

Finally, the white-haired loli broke the silence: "Are you an official?"

"What official person?" Jiang Ling answered immediately.

"That's... the military, or those supermen in the Countermeasures Bureau?" The white-haired loli explained patiently, her voice trembling.

"Guess~" Jiang Ling threw the question back.

There was another moment of silence. Jiang Ling noticed that the two seemed to be communicating with each other, but she was too lazy to use her sensory abilities to intervene. Then the nun spoke up, "You don't look like someone from the official side. They wouldn't come to this place."

Jiang Ling's expression remained unchanged, and she immediately asked her own question: "Do those murals have anything to do with you?"

"No!" The white-haired loli yelled, a little annoyed for a moment, but soon returned to her forced smile.

"What other psychic powers do you have?" This time it was the nun who asked the question.

Seeing that the main event had finally arrived, Jiang Ling straightened her body slightly and asked, "What spiritual power?"

"It's the skill we used just now... when we greeted each other. I'm good at psychic control, and Miss Shen Dan... can do several at the same time." The nun said a few technical terms, and they seemed to have summed up a new theory.

"Is this what you're talking about?" Jiang Ling used her telekinesis to pick up a broken piece of table corner from the ground. She let the piece of wood float in front of her. "I call this telekinesis."

"It's just called differently," the nun replied, a cup of tea slowly floating from the table beside her to the front of her. "We consider it a kind of energy, but different ways of using it will produce different effects."

"Interesting statement," Jiang Ling commented. She hadn't really studied how her powers worked in detail. If they were related to energy, then that would explain what she had seen before. She connected her sensory abilities with the nun and transmitted what she wanted to say: "What about this? What do you call it?"

Soon, another technical term was transmitted back - "telepathy".

The connection was broken by Jiang Ling, who discovered that different mutants had different adaptability to different abilities. This nun was clearly not very good at sensing abilities, and the connection with her was noticeably delayed.
