The doorman only took Jiang Ling to the door, and a few steps behind was a waiter. Jiang Ling hid behind the man in a suit and looked around, like Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden.
The light behind the brown glass door was noticeably dimmer, with only a single chandelier at the front desk emitting a soft glow. The waiter led her past the front desk, and Jiang Ling scanned the various drinks and beverages on the shelves, most of which she had never seen before.
The hotel's interior resembled a theme restaurant in an old shopping mall. Apparently, there wasn't much room in the basement for a large hotel, but it was a qualitative difference from those other small stalls. This "Yonghe Hotel" clearly wasn't catering to individual customers; aside from two tables in the lobby, everything else had been converted into private rooms.
Jiang Ling's clothing didn't quite match the hotel's surroundings; if anything, she looked like a homeless person in an art museum. But that wasn't a problem; the waiters were clearly well-informed, and no one was so blind as to try to stop them.
Most of the waiters were in a hurry, either pushing food carts or clutching brochures, hurrying to a private room. Jiang Ling sidestepped two young women in uniform, her eyes flickering. A private room door opened slightly, revealing a vulgar scene within. "Oh~ A respectable person doing something vulgar, truly wanting to stay warm~" She calmly admired the fullness and roundness of the room, sighing unconsciously.
The waiter leading the way noticed the person following them had stopped and quickly straightened his appearance. After finding nothing amiss, he glanced around. Ten seconds later, the increasingly violent crashing noises from the next door finally dawned on him. He quickly and quietly stepped forward, closing the door behind him. He whispered to Jiang Ling, "I'm so sorry! Miss, please follow me!" He then made a polite gesture of invitation, as if the events that had just occurred hadn't occurred.
Jiang Ling nodded. These things were truly meaningless to her now, but she still refused to change them back. It was understandable. Compared to a life where you could see the end at a glance, life now, while full of surprises, was more exciting than before. Besides, while keys were fun, lock cylinders were just as interesting.
She followed the waiter in front of her through the corridor and finally stopped at a private room at the end. The waiter knocked on the door three times with his white-gloved hands. After hearing a gentle female voice from inside, he bowed to Jiang Ling and left.
Jiang Ling saw her guide suddenly run off, and she couldn't help but feel nervous. This guy had never learned any high-level etiquette. When visiting relatives and friends in the past, she just said whatever her parents called her. Beads of sweat dripped from her forehead, and her mind raced, trying to find some greetings to refer to. But she found nothing. Years of staying at home had made her forget all social etiquette. She treated those damned formalities like irrecyclable garbage and cleared them from her mind.
Time suddenly slowed down, and she seemed to hear her own heartbeat. She twitched and pressed her hand on the doorknob, controlling her expression firmly into a paralyzed one, and then pushed the door open and walked in.
It was as if the door to a new world had been opened, and the light from the interior of the room suddenly flooded into Jiang Ling's pupils. She couldn't help but squint her eyes. When she adjusted herself, the scene before her made her freeze on the spot - "Are they playing such a trick? Click JPG"
The room's interior resembled a corner of a Romanesque church, its walls covered in realistic wallpaper. A stone platform, roughly the length of a person, stood to one side. Opposite the platform was the door to Jiang Ling's private room. Across the street from the platform ran a roughly one-meter-wide aisle, lined with long tables and benches. The lighting in the private room had been redesigned, resembling sunlight filtering through glazed glass. The colorful specks of light scattered across the room, adorning the cross hanging on the wall behind the platform with a sacred and noble air.
There were two people in the room. One, dressed in traditional nun attire, sat on a bench in the front row, her back to Jiang Ling. The other, dressed in a light blue dress, sat obediently on the stone platform. Jiang Ling couldn't see the nun's face from her angle, but the girl was now facing her. "A Chinese favorite! White hair and red eyes!" she mentally exclaimed. The girl looked very young. Although the stone platform was not high, her tiny feet, wrapped in white stockings, still hovered in mid-air.
The three people present fell into an eerie silence. There were no greetings or calls for hospitality. None of them uttered a single word, but ripples began to form within their consciousness.
Jiang Ling instinctively tried to leave, but the door to the private room had been slammed shut by some force. These two men were clearly not human, and one of them might be even more formidable than the meat mountain from the previous day. Although she had been prepared from the outset, her superpowers were no match for two opponents of her level. Unseen forces surged through the room, and she suddenly realized these two men were skilled in telekinesis. The surrounding benches and tables creaked harshly as the three wrestled.
"Ahem~ Okay, stop! We are the same kind." Before the three of them could start a falling out, the nun spoke up to interrupt them from continuing to cast spells.
Upon hearing this, several people stopped releasing their abilities at the same time. Jiang Ling leaned against the door of the room, while the little girl jumped down from the stone platform with a relaxed look.
"Hey, I'm telling you guys to stop playing with fire! Watch out, I'm going to use all my strength! Don't blame me for bullying you!" Jiang Ling yelled, her eyes twitching as she watched the white-haired creature approaching. She did have a trump card, but even in human form, she couldn't handle these two mutants. From the previous test, she realized the young girl's power was dominant, while the nun, acting as a support, was simply preventing them from harming the innocent tableware.
