Chapter 19: Choice

Time was still passing, and when a drop of sweat dripped from the bottom of the captain's chin to the bottom of the exoskeleton visor, their mission plan reached the climax part.

There was a sudden explosion on the white plain in the distance. Before the shock wave could spread, even explosions occurred within a radius of 300 meters outside the explosion point, followed by another 300 meters further away.

When the shockwave, pushing the air, reached the observation station, the plain finally revealed the water beneath the ice. The azure water, previously bearing the pressure of the ice, finally had a chance to release its pressure, gushing out from the large hole, carrying with it a pile of blue ice several meters thick.

The crowd did not have to wait too long. Before the sea surface returned to calm, another dull sound was heard.

The ice hole suddenly began to rise, like a mountain rising from the ground. The blue water, mingled with bubbles, produced a profusion of white foam. Beneath the turbulent currents lay a massive bubble, fifteen meters in diameter. Through the film of water, the captain could barely make out what it protected—"Country Z Rocket Force."

The mountain composed of sea water and bubbles continued to rise, and then after a certain point, all the sea water was shattered by the huge force and turned into a cone-shaped water mist.

The mist refracted some of the sunlight, creating a rainbow-colored semicircle on the sea level.

Behind this beautiful rainbow bridge, a cylindrical object rose from the ground. Several puffs of white gas emerged from its tail, and then these gases were blown away by the fiery red flames that came later but arrived first.

The flames shot out at an extremely fast speed, forming six circular structures along their path. The high temperature vaporized the nearby water mist, causing it to condense into white clouds farther away.

The captain only watched for a few seconds before snapping out of his trance. He ordered over the team channel, "Hurry up and track and observe!"

"It's already being done!" said the technical soldier, staring at the screen. On one side of the screen, the communication data of other observation stations were constantly updated.

"Shore-based 02 optical tracking is normal, and the flight is normal."

"Shore-based 07 optical tracking is normal and flight is normal."

"North 11 optical tracking is normal and flight is normal."

. . . . . .

The rocket in front of him rose higher and higher, and the captain was finally able to see other rockets in the distance.

This was a saturation strike, with a total of 300 anti-satellite missiles.

Now is the time when the risk is greatest, and the captain can only pray that those killing satellites have not noticed this place.

But the calm sky only lasted fifteen seconds.

A beam of light carrying destructive power fell from the sky.

The missile in the distance exploded immediately.

Then there were explosions, explosions, explosions...

Fifteen minutes later, the last missile was destroyed near the Karman Line, and the instructions on the tactical computer screen also came to an end.

"The operation is over, each team will recover on their own..." The commander's calm voice came to the captain's ear, but he was still staring blankly at the sky.

The missiles that exploded in mid-air created countless burning orange-yellow clouds, which were swallowed up by the rapidly approaching wall of clouds and then disappeared without a trace.
