Upon hearing this, a smile flashed in Chen Jing's eyes. He then had the butcher chop up the largest rib and took out the meat coupons and money.
The ribs and lean meat were tied together with straw rope and carried around. Ji Xia gestured towards the small stall next to her with her lip: "How about we go over and get two bowls of wontons? It's been so long since I've had any."
"Aren't you going home to eat with your aunt? They rarely come over."
Ji Xia curled her lip in disdain: "I don't like seeing my sister-in-law's mother. I can't be bothered to look at her face. I'll eat my fill outside before going back."
Chen Jing was eager for the two of them to have a meal together, so upon hearing this, he picked up a basket and other things and accompanied her to the breakfast shop.
Ji Xia ordered two bowls of chicken soup with wontons, each weighing three ounces. She picked up two pairs of chopsticks, rinsed them with hot tea, and placed them in front of the two people. She said softly, "The workshop is on a tighter order schedule these days. I'll probably be a bit busy these next couple of days. I'll go over in a couple of days."
"no problem."
Chen Jing sighed again as he spoke: "When are we going to bring up the topic of our engagement?"
“Didn’t you say you wanted to split up the family business? Let’s resolve this first, so that they don’t find out about our small workshop over time.”
As the two were talking, the stall owner brought over two bowls of chicken soup with wontons, and the aroma of chicken filled the air.
Ji Xia took a deep breath: "It smells so good. It's been so long since I've had wontons. This soup is so delicious."
Just as Chen Jing was about to suggest bringing her here more often, he suddenly heard a surprised voice behind him: "Ah Xia, what are you doing here?"
Ji Xia turned around and saw Ji Zhijun coming over with two teammates for a meal. She quickly called out, "Second Brother, weren't you going out on a trip? My sister-in-law gave birth to twins and is still in the hospital. Have you gone to see her yet?"
