Chapter 51: Losing Temper - So Stingy, Outsiders Can't Even Get a Scratched Piece of Paper

"We're going to set off after breakfast."

Ji Xiangjun raised an eyebrow in surprise: "Your sister-in-law gave birth? Weren't you supposed to be two or three months away?"

"I fell at home yesterday and went into premature labor. My mother is still at home preparing breakfast for my sister-in-law, while my older brother is at the hospital taking care of her!"

"Mother is preparing breakfast, are you still here?"

Ji Xiangjun gave her a deep look, then turned to his two brothers and said, "I need to go to the hospital. You two wait for me in the car. I'll leave half an hour later."

The two brothers agreed, and Ji Xiangjun, without even having a meal, turned and left after giving his instructions.

Ji Xia and Chen Jing were scolded by Ji Xiangjun, but they didn't dare to delay. They quickly ate the small wontons and turned to go home.

On the way, Ji Xia said, "I'm not satisfied yet. In a few days, I'll make chicken soup and some wontons for you."

"OK!"

Chen Jing was overjoyed and pedaled the wheels of the car incredibly fast.

Back at the Ji family courtyard, Zhang Lan had already cooked breakfast, preparing stir-fried bok choy and pickled vegetables, and the group was about to eat.

Ji Xia put the things she was carrying in the kitchen and gestured to Chen Jing to leave two meat buns and take the rest out.

I cut half of the lean meat, washed it, added a little fat and minced it, added scallion and ginger water and stirred it, then poured it into the rice porridge in the clay pot.

The minced meat was stirred into the snow-white rice porridge, and with the addition of salt, its aroma was released.

“This is for my brother and sister-in-law. My brother has a big appetite, so I’ll also boil an egg for him and send two boiled sweet potatoes over.”

Zhang Lan responded and whispered, "Does brother-in-law also want meat porridge?"

Ji Xia turned around and smiled faintly at her: "My brother keeps watch at night and works in the fields during the day. He works very hard. Eat well so as not to damage his health."

Zhang Lan nodded, secretly envious; people with jobs are just different.

However, few men in the countryside would stay up all night to take care of their wives during their postpartum period. The men in the Ji family would stay up all night to take care of their wives, which was really good to their sister.

After the pork porridge was cooked, Ji Xia washed her hands and left the kitchen with Zhang Lan.

Chen Jing was sitting at the table in the courtyard, eating with Ji's mother while showering her with attention.

Zhang's mother was also sitting on the other side, but she didn't bother to eat the breakfast in front of her. Instead, she kept stuffing meat buns into a piece of oil paper.

When Ji Xia looked over, she had already stuffed four meat buns into her mouth and was about to take the fifth one.

Ji Xia's face darkened, and she asked coldly, "Aunt Zhang, what are you doing? We want to eat these meat buns."

Two were left in the kitchen for Ji Zhijun, and there were ten more on the table, enough for five people to each have one.

Zhang's mother chuckled dismissively, "You city folks are tired of this. Take these home for my husband and son to try."

Ji's mother sighed and shook her head at Ji Xia, indicating that she shouldn't take it too seriously.

Ji Xia is willing to let it go? In her previous life, she endured a lifetime of suffering, which led to breast hyperplasia and a host of illnesses. In this life, reborn, she only wants to live as she pleases and be unrestrained.

She quickly brought the remaining five meat buns to herself, handing two to her mother, one to Chen Jing, and keeping one for herself.

"Auntie, the meat buns are two cents each, five for a dollar. I won't haggle over the food coupons for your sake, but I'll deduct the cost of the meat buns from the remaining ten dollars."

"What? You're arguing with me over a few meat buns? How can you be so stingy?"

Upon hearing this, Zhang's mother's smile vanished, and she glared at Ji Xia, panting heavily.

"Yes, I am stingy. I only spend my money on the Ji family. I don't even want to give a piece of paper to people who have nothing to do with the Ji family."

Ji Xia gave a disdainful sneer, her eyes filled with contempt as she looked at her: "If you're so generous, why don't you buy me some meat buns?"

"At his age, he lives like a beggar, shameless and brazen. His daughter gave birth to him empty-handed, without receiving a single thing, yet he still has the nerve to plunder other people's purchases."

"I advise you to shut your mouth and stop nagging me. If I get angry, the consequences will be severe, and I won't care whose mother you are!"

Zhang's mother was so angry by her rapid-fire words that her face changed color again and again, and she glared at Ji's mother with dissatisfaction.

Although Ji's mother felt that her daughter had gone too far, she had always favored her daughter and also disliked Zhang's mother's temperament. Upon hearing this, she simply lowered her eyes and ate without reacting.

Seeing that Ji's mother had no reaction, Zhang's mother was furious and finally glared at her daughter: "Eat, eat, eat! All you know is how to eat! You see your own mother being bullied and you don't even say a word."

Zhang Lan's eyes reddened, and Chen Jing slammed his chopsticks on the table with a loud bang, his tiger-like eyes glaring angrily.

"Shut up, if you don't want to eat, get out! Do you want me to kick you?"

When Chen Jing got angry, his face looked fierce. Zhang's mother was so frightened by his fierce expression that she stopped speaking and sat down angrily.

Ji Xia casually said to Zhang Lan, who was keeping her head down and not daring to speak, "Eat quickly, we'll go to the hospital after we finish eating."

After eating a bowl of porridge and a meat bun, Ji Xia picked up the last meat bun and nodded to Zhang Lan: "Let's go, shall we take some things to the hospital?"

Zhang Lan hurriedly returned to the kitchen, while Ji Xia gave Chen Jing a wink, signaling him to keep an eye on Zhang's mother and send her away so she wouldn't go to the hospital to complain.

Zhang Lan carried a small basket from the kitchen, which contained an insulated lunchbox, two sets of bowls and chopsticks, as well as meat buns, boiled eggs, and sweet potatoes for Ji Zhijun.

Ji Xia, holding her mother's hand, smiled and called out to Zhang Lan, "Let's go to the hospital."

The three of them walked out of the courtyard. Ji Xia looked back once before handing the meat bun in her hand to Zhang Lan: "I'm sorry, Lan, I have a bit of a temper, but I know you're different from your mother, so don't be angry."

"No, no need, I'm full."

Zhang Lan waved her hands frantically and shook her head repeatedly. Ji Xia stuffed the meat bun into her hand: "Just eat it. Don't be so polite. In our Ji family, there's no such thing as a daughter not being allowed to eat."

Zhang Lan's eyes reddened, and she took the meat bun and lowered her head.

Although Ji Xia's words had embarrassed her, she also knew that her own mother had gone too far.

On the contrary, she was somewhat grateful to Ji Xia, not only for the meat buns she was given, but also because staying at the Ji family home meant she could eat her fill.

Being able to eat one's fill is a very rare experience in the Zhang family.

The three of them carried baskets to the hospital ward, where Ji Xiangjun was talking to Ji Zhijun.

He heard that his elder brother and sister-in-law had given birth to twins, so he brought two bags of milk powder and brown sugar to visit them, and also gave red envelopes to his two nephews.

Seeing Ji's mother and Ji Xia arrive, Ji Xiangjun smiled and said, "Big brother, sister-in-law, I have to go out today. I'll bring Kang Kang and Le Le gifts when I get back."

Be careful on the road.

Ji Zhijun patted him on the shoulder, and Ji Xiangjun hugged his mother again before saying goodbye.

Ji Xia carried the thermos to the table and said to Zhang Hong, "Sister-in-law, can you eat today? I cooked some lean meat porridge."

"The doctor said I can eat some liquids."

As soon as Ji Zhijun spoke, he saw the large bucket of porridge that Ji Xia had brought and couldn't help but laugh: "Your sister-in-law just had surgery yesterday, how can she eat so much?"
