Chapter 102 Another Narrow Escape

That rabbit was stupid; instead of running away, it looked at him with a mocking expression.

puff!

It's dead!

Fang Rong flicked his fingertip and retrieved the dart he had just thrown. "People, including animals, should never be complacent. Complacency leads to death."

And Fang Hua dared to laugh at him; even if he laughed, only Fang Hua could laugh.

"You're so stupid." Fang Rong was still recovering from her illness, her body felt completely drained, and her face was deathly pale. "Come here and let me take a look."

Fang Hua leaned closer, lifted the silvery-yellow fur, and saw two large bumps on it.

"Ice cubes."

Fang Hua opened his mouth and sprayed out several ice cubes, which formed and were neatly arranged on the ground.

Fang Rong wrapped a towel around his forehead and pressed it against his forehead. Fang Hua had used all of his wood-type abilities on him, leaving none for himself. Moreover, wood-type abilities consume a lot of energy, especially when healing people, so his legs were not nimble and he bumped into the cave entrance twice.

"Cough cough...cough...cough cough cough..." Fang Rong covered her mouth, her throat itched, and she couldn't help but cough again and again.

His body was still very weak, and he couldn't hold the raised position for long; he had to rest every now and then and switch arms.

Fang Hua stuck out her tongue and licked him, but Fang Rong brushed it away in disgust.

He had Fang Hua transform back into human form to lend a hand, and they began processing the rabbit meat outside the cave.

All the internal organs were buried, and there weren't many spices to mask the odor. Considering that this was in the wild and fraught with danger, Fang Rong didn't set up a fire to roast them, but instead cooked rabbit meat in lotus leaves.

Well, there are no lotus leaves either, but thankfully there's a flowering tree overhead. I don't know what kind of flowers it has, but it has a faint fragrance that's refreshing and not cloying.

Fang Rong asked him to go up and pick a few flowers, then use the petals to wrap the rabbit layer by layer.

Of course, seasonings were added, and finally, diluted mud was applied to cover the outermost layer, which was then placed in the fire to bake.

They only took the fruit out after it was roasted until it was charred black. Fang Hua hadn't eaten anything for a day and a half. Because I was worried about him, I could only pick some fruit from the tree next door. Fang Rong was fine; he was full after eating two fruits. But it was really tough for Fang Hua, a carnivore.

Because it was freshly baked and still sparking, Fang Hua couldn't wait to break it apart, burning his hands until they turned red.

Fang Rong shook her head and used her supernatural ability to peel away the clump of black charcoal, revealing the withered petals inside.

However, the juice from the petals seeps into the meat, and the aroma is already irresistible just from opening the outermost layer.

Fang Rong peeled away the petals layer by layer, and the inner layer was indeed rich but not greasy, with a fragrance that could be smelled for miles. Although she hadn't eaten it yet, this already proved to be a great success.

After all, it's cooked with real firewood and the soil is red clay from the riverbank. While it may not be a delicacy, it's still quite tender and delicious.

Fang Rong tore off a piece of rabbit leg for Fang Hua, who swallowed it in two bites, chewing even the bones clean.

(ー△ー;)

He had originally planned to trim the meat off Fang Hua, but now it seemed completely unnecessary; the guy clearly wanted to devour the whole rabbit.

Fang Hua had almost finished eating and specially saved a piece of rabbit leg for him, but Fang Rong refused it. He was afraid that he would vomit if he ate it. Although he didn't show it on his face, he was so weak that he had no appetite when he saw meat or similar foods.

"You eat it."

Fang Hua persisted.

Fang Rong sighed helplessly, "Then I'll just have a couple of bites."

He scraped off two pieces of meat with a knife, put them in his mouth and swallowed them. Fortunately, the meat was cooked lightly and deliciously, not greasy, and he could still eat a couple of bites.

"Have you finished eating?"

Fang Hua nodded.

"We're ready to leave now that we've finished eating."

According to wilderness survival guides, lone wolves like them need to change locations for every meal, since there are many wild animals in the wild, and they might just follow the scent to their destination.

Now that one of them has exhausted his superpower and the other is so weak that he's practically a ghost, it's best for them to just obediently listen to him.
