Chapter 75, Chapter Seventy-Three
During a brief meeting with the Akatsuki organization, Sasuke explained his upcoming plans.
Kill the high-ranking officials of Konoha, and destroy Konoha.
Sasuke sat at the head of the long table, with the members of Team Hawk on one side and Obito and Kisame on the other.
"Miss Yuki, it's been a long time since I've worn the Akatsuki robes again." Kisame, carrying the Samehada sword, looked at Yuki and chuckled softly.
"Yes, Kisame." Yuki didn't really know Kisame's personality. She and Itachi had once formed a temporary team with him.
She and Itachi didn't participate much in the missions; Kisame usually took on all the work by himself.
Kisame's gaze shifted from Yuki to Sasuke. His tone was casual, with a hint of contempt: "If you attack the higher-ups, the people below will definitely stop you. Things won't go so smoothly. With you—" Kisame glanced at Yuki briefly before continuing, "Even with Yukihime of Konoha, who was once on par with Shisui of the Body Flicker, your fighting strength is insufficient."
Upon hearing this, Mizuki clicked her tongue and said, "Senior Kisame, you'd better not underestimate us. The last contest hasn't been decided yet, but this time I'm going to get serious."
"Stop! Suigetsu!" Jugo's shouts had no effect.
Suigetsu drew his greatsword from behind and swung it at Kisame. Before the sword could fall, Obito stopped it. With a crisp sound, the blade of the Executioner's Blade was blocked by Obito's wrist alone. Suigetsu stared at Obito's wrist in disbelief.
"How is this possible? He did it with just one hand..."
Obito stood in front of Kisame, his tone admonishing.
"Sasuke, haven't you disciplined him properly?"
Karin, unable to bear it any longer, snapped, "Mizuki, are you an idiot?! In a place like this..."
Before Karin could finish speaking, Suigetsu interrupted her.
"My goal is that Samehada sword. I followed Sasuke only to get it!"
Jugo looked at Sasuke: "Sasuke, what should we do?"
Sasuke looked a bit troubled. He frowned and said, "Go ahead and fight, Suigetsu. Anyway, you can't beat him right now."
“Well said, Sasuke,” Suigetsu said. “Just you wait, it won’t be long before I treat you and Yuki to a delicious shark fin soup.”
“Shuiyue,” Xue said coldly.
Mizuki, still angry, sheathed her Executioner's Blade and returned to her position with the Hawk Squad. Obito sat sideways on the long table, one hand resting on the surface, and said, "The Akatsuki is also severely understaffed. Let's try to avoid unnecessary conflicts for now."
“Our interests are aligned. From now on, Team Hawk will operate alongside Akatsuki.” Obito glanced at Yuki. Sasuke frowned. Obito continued, “Although Yuki is currently a member of Team Hawk, I still hope she can return to Akatsuki and operate with us.”
Karin took a small step forward, blocking Obito's view of Yuki.
Shuiyue spoke up: "Hey, hey—trying to steal someone's partner isn't going to be done in such a blatant way, is it?"
"I'll be working with Team Taka on the tailed beast capture mission." Yuki looked up and met Obito's gaze. The Akatsuki had already collected six tailed beasts. As for the remaining three, the Nine-Tails—Naruto Uzumaki—was unrealistic for Obito to have Team Taka capture. Team Taka would only be responsible for capturing the Eight-Tails, while the Akatsuki would handle the rest. Yuki's gaze fell on Obito's Sharingan, the only visible feature beneath his mask. During the Third Shinobi World War, she had heard the Fourth Hokage recount his brief duel with the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki and the Raikage; Killer Bee was practically a perfect Jinchuriki. Even during the Third Shinobi World War, she wasn't guaranteed to capture Killer Bee alive.
She bit her lower lip slightly; she hadn't been able to completely break the seal Obito had placed inside her.
He couldn't even use the Mangekyou Sharingan, let alone Susanoo.
“After this, I will work with the Akatsuki,” Xue said.
Obito chuckled softly, and Sasuke looked at Yuki, but in the end, he said nothing.
Sasuke asked, "If we do as you say, what reward will you give us?"
"How about we give you tailed beasts? Monsters formed from chakra power, you could say they're the ultimate chakra weapon. What do you think of the terms...?"
"However, if you betray Akatsuki, then I will kill you all, including Uchiha Yuki."
Obito's words became increasingly profound.
And with Itachi dead, the condition that Itachi and the Akatsuki agreed not to attack Konoha is therefore invalid.
However, Xue did not expect that the Akatsuki would suffer such heavy losses, with only Zetsu, Kisame, Pain, and Konan remaining.
-
"So you've finally decided to spend time with your younger brother, whom you've relied on since childhood? Uchiha Yuki."
In the woods by the lake, Obito sat with his legs spread on the stone railing of the stone bridge, having just finished speaking with Zetsu. Yuki stood not far from him, able to clearly see the dark red three-tomoe Sharingan beneath his orange swirling mask. A sense of oppression permeated the air, and Yuki instinctively averted her gaze, trying to dispel the unbearable memories from her mind. Those three years he imprisoned her in the Land of Water seemed to have eroded her moral compass step by step. Her body seemed to be controlled by an indescribable desire, always unconsciously pursuing behaviors that brought fleeting pleasure. Yet, deep down, she didn't like this version of herself, as if her brain was being dominated by animal instincts.
"Release the seal on me." Her voice was as cold as ice.
Sensing the eerie atmosphere, Jue wisely sank into the ground and disappeared into the shadows of the forest.
Obito raised an eyebrow slightly, his voice carrying a complex mix of emotions that were hard to describe, like anger, yet also like a faint lingering affection.
“With Itachi’s help, you escaped my grasp.” Obito approached her, leaned down slightly, and his rough leather glove suddenly gripped her chin. Yuki frowned; the rough leather glove was anything but gentle against her skin. Obito’s gaze lingered on her slightly reddened skin, then slowly moved upwards, finally settling on her thin lips.
How many people have those thin lips kissed?
The mere thought of it drives me insane with jealousy, yet I can't find any legitimate reason to go mad.
I don't understand how two people who once loved each other could end up like this.
Is it true that no matter how hard one struggles in this world, failure is inevitable?
Indeed, there is no hope in this world.
Obito's dark Sharingan eyes were full of contempt as he said, "Didn't you ever think that one day it would come back to me, Uchiha Yuki?"
Xue's eyes were calm and still, like a bottomless pool of stagnant water.
She also needs Obito Uchiha to live in his current identity to help Sasuke and her settle scores with the Konoha leadership.
Thinking of this, Xue hesitated for a moment, then gently touched his mask with her slender white fingertips.
Unable to touch anything, Xue couldn't help but turn her head to the side, a faint smile appearing on her lips.
What is she afraid of, Obito? With her current abilities, what makes her a worthy opponent?
As if mocking itself, even its awakened kaleidoscope ability only passively grants immunity to mental illusions; it's simply not strong enough, not strong enough...
Obito froze. How long had it been since Uchiha Yuki had smiled in front of him? He wasn't sure either, at least not during the three years he had locked her in the room. Every time they met, she tried to pierce his heart with a kunai, even attempting suicide to take him down with her. Even during their passionate moments in bed, he couldn't be completely relaxed and vigilant. This bright smile, the perfect curve of her lips, her clear, watery eyes, though the smile didn't reach her eyes, still made Obito's heart flutter uncontrollably. The girl's profile was exquisite; it should have exuded an icy chill, but at this moment it only radiated a faint coldness.
As if in resignation, Obito removed his mask.
She had a completely different appearance from Sasuke and Itachi, with slightly resolute and rugged features. She had sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, but the scar on her right side was particularly striking. Her short, black, spiky hair was a bit prickly. Beneath the Akatsuki robes lay a muscular body, broad shoulders and a narrow waist, which always caused her lower abdomen to bulge when she moved. Obito noticed Yuki's slightly rapid breathing and chuckled softly.
"So, he really is yearning for me?"
"A kid like Sasuke is no match for you, is he?"
Obito leaned forward slightly, his gaze intently fixed on every nuance of her expression. She nodded, a smile playing on her lips.
His voice was deep and unhurried.
Stirring up Yuki's emotions and surging hormones, she bit her lower lip, her body reacting uncontrollably to Obito.
Reason tells me no, but my body moves closer unconsciously.
Obito's gaze moved from her lips to the barely noticeable rise and fall of her chest, Yuki, who was not particularly feminine.
His lips curled slightly upward, and his Adam's apple bobbed as he spoke, producing a deep, hollow sound.
"Come to me, I know what you're thinking."
"No need to break the seal, stay by my side and witness a new world."
"A world without despair."
His expression was fervent and determined, his eyes gleaming with anticipation for the future. Slightly regaining her senses, Yuki bit her tongue, the taste of blood instantly filling her mouth. The excruciating pain finally brought her body back from its physiological reactions. Obito, seeing the blood on her lips, suddenly darkened his expression.
"I will not break the seal for you, Uchiha Yuki."
Unusually, he fled in panic.
Xue was left standing alone. She slowly closed her eyes and remained silent for a moment.
It looks like the battle with Killer Bee will be tough.
-
Just as Yuki had predicted, she looked up and saw Sasuke injured by Killer Bee. A wave of helplessness washed over her. Jugo, having shrunk to the size of a child while treating Sasuke, was not a combat type; Suigetsu's water-style chakra was completely countered by Killer Bee's lightning style. After taking a hit from a Tailed Beast Ball, although his special constitution made him immune to most physical attacks, he eventually lost consciousness, turning into a ball of transparent, watery slime floating on the water's surface.
Everyone fought for their own interests to some extent, but even more so for Sasuke.
The other three, panting heavily, circled around Suigetsu on the water's surface. Yuki bit her lower lip; she hadn't expected that three elite Jonin-level ninjas wouldn't be a match for Killer Bee. Sasuke's gaze slowly swept over everyone: Karin, exhausted from healing herself, her chakra severely depleted; Jugo, his body shrunken from healing himself; and Yuki, panting heavily, forcing herself to use her eye techniques and chakra. Her Akatsuki robe, having shielded him from several fatal wounds, had several sleeves torn by Killer Bee's sharp blade.
He dragged her down—
Xue made her decision. She raised her eyes and took Sasuke's hand.
"You all go quickly, I'll buy you some time. Only I can fight the Eight-Tails now."
"Yo yo yo—Uchiha Yuki is a big bad guy!"
A strange, rhyming cry came from within the octopus-tailed creature. Yuki swiftly picked up Sasuke's Kusanagi sword, her three-tomoe Sharingan flashing in her eyes. Her fair face was covered with small wounds from the recent battle. Forcing the use of her eye technique seemed to be blurring her vision further; the Eight-Tails before her appeared as countless double images. She channeled her chakra into the Kusanagi sword and unleashed her most proficient fire-style ninjutsu.
Amidst the flashing swords and the fire-style techniques of the Uchiha clan, the intense burning sensation and the pain of being pierced by blades caused the Eight-Tails to howl in agony. It lashed its tail violently, and just as that powerful strike was about to hit the others, Yuki's gaze fell upon Sasuke and his group. Images flashed through her mind of learning of Obito's death during the Third Shinobi World War, the Fourth Hokage's sacrifice during the Nine-Tails' Nightfall, and Kushina's own sacrifice. At the crucial moment, her three tomoe-shaped Sharingan eyes twisted into lilac petals, and a pale blue Susanoo rose from nowhere, tightly enveloping her body and lifting her within its chest. On the simple skeleton, an arm formed from chakra grabbed the Eight-Tails' tail and violently dumped it into the lake.
At the same time, Sasuke's Mangekyou Sharingan activated, and the endless black Amaterasu flames burned wildly against the Eight-Tails.
The next second, with her chakra completely depleted, Yuki could no longer maintain Susanoo.
She fell from the Susanoo that had been forcibly deactivated, plummeting downwards like a kite with a broken string.
