Chapter 76, Chapter Seventy-Four

Chapter 76, Chapter Seventy-Four

Karin ran as fast as she could and finally caught Xue just as she was about to fall into the water.

Yuki opened her eyes; she hadn't expected it to be Karin.

Before him stood a red-haired girl with striking features, her eyes behind her glasses filled with worry for her.

"Snow!"

"Karin..."

The inextinguishable black flames of Amaterasu burned fiercely on the Eight-Tails, as one of its tails lashed out. Supported by Karin, Yuki swayed as she stood up. She swung her sword and sliced the severed tail in two, the broken piece falling into the lake. Yuki looked at the severed tail, a hint of hesitation in her eyes. Finally, under Sasuke's control, the black flames extinguished, and Killer Bee's still-breathing body floated to the surface. At least, the Eight-Tails wouldn't be killed.

Karin helped Yuki up, Sasuke carried Killer Bee on his shoulder, and Jugo held Suigetsu in his arms.

"Are they still alive, Eight-Tails?" Yuki gasped for breath, the figures in her vision beginning to blur. To avoid causing them too much worry, Yuki could only squint slightly, focusing on the orange blob above Jugo's head.

“Still alive.” Jugo reached out and checked Killer Bee’s pulse.

The capture of the Eight-Tails has come to a temporary end.

-

"As agreed, I brought the Eight-Tails." Sasuke put Killer Bee, whom he had been carrying on his shoulder, down on the ground.

Obito's eyes were filled with approval: "Well done. I knew it would be no problem if it were you."

Jugo carried Suigetsu on his back, while Karin frowned and leaned gently against Yuki.

Yuki could feel that her body was recovering much faster than before, perhaps due to the effects of Obito's remaining cells and chakra.

"You, stay."

As everyone turned to leave, Obito called out to stop Xue.

Sasuke looked at him with a puzzled expression, but Yuki simply patted his shoulder gently.

"You guys go and heal your wounds first, I'll come find you in a bit."

Only Obito and Yuki remained in front of the stone wall. Obito removed his mask from his black-gloved, bony hand.

Half of his handsome face and the other half was covered in scars. Even though she was used to it, Xue couldn't help but linger her gaze on the scarred side of his face for a moment before looking away.

Xue lowered her eyes, and her face rarely showed extreme sadness or joy.

Obito understood her, hated her, yet loved her.

All these complex emotions coexisted within her at the same time.

"If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

A cold voice, paired with that expressionless yet exquisite face.

Obito chuckled lightly, his expression full of provocation, and finally stood up.

A tall shadow enveloped Xue's figure, and she slightly raised her eyes.

“Compared to Sasuke, Uchiha Yuki, your hatred for Konoha isn’t as deep, is it? After all—” Obito blocked Uchiha Yuki’s path. The forced use of the Mangekyou Sharingan had already severely impaired Yuki’s eyesight. To avoid being noticed by others, Yuki could only lower her eyes, her voice cold: “Don’t judge me by your understanding of the Will of Fire. On the night the Uchiha clan was wiped out, I lost all feeling for Konoha, the village that regarded the Uchiha clan as…the nourishment of Konoha’s roots and thus destroyed them.”

"Sasuke's will is my will."

The girl said this, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes coldly looking at him.

Obito, however, keenly noticed that her gaze was focused on the wrong place.

"Is that so? You don't even care about Minato-sensei's child?" Obito chuckled. When he mentioned Naruto Uzumaki, Yuki's expression showed a brief moment of surprise, but she quickly made a decision.

She wants to be by Sasuke's side, by Sasuke's side.

They are the last remaining descendants of the Uchiha clan.

She must—

It has to be this way, because otherwise it is not.

She lost the meaning of her life; Sasuke's stance became her stance.

"Uchiha Obito, shut up!" She rarely shouted at Obito outside of bed, grabbing his collar tightly with both hands, forcing Obito to bend down and meet her eyes.

Her voice was hoarse and hysterical: "You are not worthy to mention the Fourth Hokage—"

The man reached out and grabbed the ends of her hair, a slight stinging sensation on her scalp causing Xue to cry out in pain. She grabbed her hair, trying to pull it back, but the man only managed to grab her wrist. With his other hand, he pinched her chin, his gaze lingering on her thin lips. Obito was trying to restrain himself, but he could no longer tolerate it.

His eyes held a warning as the man said in a low voice, "You're still the same, getting all emotional at the mere mention of Minato Namikaze. Whether it was in bed... Even after all this time, you still can't forget Minato Namikaze?"

"You know best that I hate you and the teacher. Why didn't you recognize me? Why didn't you stop me from going astray?"

Then, the large hand that was holding her hair moved up and gently covered the top of her head, patting her head in a soothing manner.

This kind of comforting was like treating a pet dog that could be summoned and dismissed at will, making Yuki bite her lower lip, feeling extremely humiliated, yet unable to respond to Obito's words.

"Didn't you say that after the Eight-Tails mission, you would return to my side, Uchiha Yuki?" His tone carried a hint of threat, and the dark three-tomoe Sharingan appeared in his eyes. His wrist, which was being held, ached from being gripped so tightly.

Xue's pupils widened, as if she were standing under a blood moon, her body pierced by the piercing technique. A suffocating feeling, as if she couldn't breathe, filled her throat, rendering her unable to move. Obito looked at her, his grip on her wrist gradually loosening. Then their hands intertwined, and then they embraced tightly in the darkness.

Finally, a kiss, half cool and half hot, landed.

Obito vaguely sensed dampness. In the darkness, his Sharingan could see everything.

She let the tears slide down her cheeks, overwhelmed by an unconscious sadness and a feeling of suffocation.

Her eyes were clear and bright from the tears, and she looked beautiful.

He frowned, but the kissing didn't stop.

They were kissing passionately, their tongues touching the inside of her mouth, very close.

They were so close that their breaths mingled and intertwined, yet so far that they couldn't see each other's hearts clearly.

He closed his eyes, concealing the unspeakable pain within them.

-

The process of extracting the Eight-Tails involves only four people, so it looks like it will take quite a long time.

Yuki watched as Killer Bee's body suddenly transformed into octopus tentacles, and after a brief silence, she remembered the severed tail that had been cut off by Fire Release during the battle. So, it really did escape?

"It seems that Sasuke-kun and Yuki-senpai have targeted the wrong person..." Kisame said calmly.

"Hahaha! It's an octopus leg!" The white half of the pitcher plant laughed, while the black Zetsu said seriously, "Shut up!"

Snow:......?

Obito: ...?

Xue rubbed her forehead, a headache throbbing, and looked away, her tone irritated: "That wretched rapper brat—"
