Chapter 602 Just an Innocent Child
The three huddled in the corner, watching with trepidation as Bertrand approached them.
Mitsuhiko swallowed hard, his voice trembling, "S-Shinya-nii-chan, why...why did you do this? I...we..."
Bertrand's bright smile didn't reach his eyes. "What do you mean, 'why'? I never liked you guys anyway, so it's normal for me to suddenly become like this, right?"
Standing before them, Bertrand stabbed them with the knife in his hand.
A soft "plop" sound.
The sound of a knife piercing flesh.
Then came the screams of the three of them.
Ayumi was so frightened that her face turned pale and she fainted.
Mitsuhiko and Genta, who had been stabbed, both looked pale. Although they hadn't fainted, their eyes were unfocused, and tears were welling up in their eyes, making them look like they were terrified.
Bertrand raised an eyebrow slightly, pulled out his knife, and shoved Genta, who fell to the ground with a thud.
"Oh dear, so she fainted from fright."
His gaze shifted to Mitsuhiko.
Noticing that he was looking at him, Mitsuhiko gritted his teeth, shook his head in fear, and waved his hands in an attempt to keep him away.
But Bertrand didn't intend to touch him; instead, his gaze subtly drifted to a spot slightly to his side.
*Smack*
Mitsuhiko, waving his hands, accidentally touched the switch.
Bertrand let out a soft sneer and gave Mitsuhiko a sarcastic look.
Conan had just received Ai Haibara's Detective Boys badge and turned on the communication function when he heard a loud bang.
He was startled and immediately turned and ran back.
Ai Haibara hesitated, reaching out her hand, but a sense of unease compelled her to follow and see what was happening.
She clenched her fist, put on her hat, and then ran over.
Upon arriving here, their expressions changed drastically.
They stared at the three children who had collapsed to the ground, some even covered in blood, and the boy who was holding a bloodstained folding knife but hiding pitifully in the young man's arms. Their pupils trembled slightly, and they felt as if their throats were being squeezed, making it difficult to breathe.
Seeker hugged Bertrand and comforted him softly, his face full of heartache, completely ignoring the three children beside him.
Conan and Ai Haibara didn't even have time to pay attention to the members of the two organizations; they quickly ran to the three children to check on them.
Conan breathed a slight sigh of relief upon discovering that Ayumi and Mitsuhiko had only fainted from fright, aside from some minor injuries.
Ai Haibara is urgently trying to stop the bleeding from the wound on Genta's shoulder.
Conan gritted his teeth in dissatisfaction and glared at Bertrand. "If you have any complaints, take them out on me! They're just innocent children!"
Bertrand, holding Sext, nestled in his arms. Hearing this, he turned slightly, glaring fiercely at Conan with tearful eyes. "They're just innocent children?"
"So what if they're innocent?! So what if they're just children?!"
"They are innocent children, what does it have to do with me?! Whether they are innocent or not, whether they are children or not, what does it have to do with me?!"
He practically shouted it out.
Conan was stunned when he first saw Bertrand, who was out of control of his emotions.
Seeker frowned, gave Conan a disapproving look, and gently stroked Bertrand's head to comfort him.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Ai Haibara squatting beside Genta, trying to stop his bleeding. A thought flashed through his mind about her drooping hair, but his immediate priority was to calm Bertrand's emotions, so he didn't dwell on it.
