Chapter 253: A Song from an Actor Moves the Capital (18) (3/5)

Tears were still welling up in the corners of his eyes. Bai Jingtang touched his face and asked, "Have you seen me yet?"

When Lin Su opened his eyes and saw the bloody face of the person sleeping next to him, he realized that he had returned to the past. However, when he saw the chapped corners of the person's mouth and had not yet figured out what was going on, Bai Jinglang had already opened his eyes.

He subconsciously glanced to the side, sighed softly, and did not stay in bed. Instead, he grabbed the clothes beside him, stood up, and folded the quilt by himself. He did not hear the girl knocking on the door from beginning to end.

Lin Su stood aside and watched his movements, and finally realized that something was wrong.

He knew this person. He stayed up all night to see how he disappeared, so he must have wanted to see how he reappeared. He had always slept in the Bai residence before, so the time here had never been interrupted. But then he stopped for a month, and the time here was obviously no longer connected.

Bai Jinglang cleaned up the house and went out. Lin Su followed him without saying a word.

It was a clear and crisp autumn season, with fallen leaves all over the ground. Normally, the fallen leaves would be swept away by servants, but now they were piled thickly on the ground, making a rustling sound when stepped on.

Bai Jingjian was drawing water from the well to wash himself, and Lin Su was just watching his unskilled movements from the corridor.

How could he just leave him here and not care about him when he was obsessed with it and could become a ghost? But unexpectedly, it was still too late.

"Oh, Master Bai, why don't you ask someone to fetch water themselves? What if I hurt my fingers?" The courtyard door was pushed open, and a man in shorts with a gun on his waist looked inside and said.

"Get out." Bai Jinglang's expression was cold.

"Just get out, what are you so proud of?" The man sneered and slammed the door. "You think you're the high and mighty young master of the Bai family, but you're just a charlatan selling your smiles. If I weren't afraid of getting hurt and losing money, I wouldn't bother with you."

The sound came straight through the door. Bai Jinglang clenched his hands holding the basin of water, but pursed his lips and poured the water under the roots of the tree.

"What nonsense are you talking about here? If you offend the boss's cash cow, you'll be in trouble." Another male voice shouted loudly, then said inside, "Master Bai, don't be angry. He has a loose mouth. I'll teach him a lesson for the boss."

There was some commotion outside, but Bai Jingjian ignored it. He just took care of himself, stepped over the fallen leaves and opened the door.

Several men in shorts surrounded the yard and followed him directly when he went out. Even after he got on the carriage, there were people guarding the door and outside the carriage.

The carriage turned into the main street. Lin Su walked outside the carriage and saw many people secretly looking at the carriage and heard their whispers.

"Is this the Bai family's young master's carriage?"

"There's no such thing as the Bai family's young master now. The Bai family is long gone. He's just an actor who's causing a stir in the city."

"You're so blessed, yet you have to fall into a place like Guiyuan where you have to sing opera. Tsk..."

"Lucky? Boss Liu has been eyeing the Bai family's assets for a while now, right? This time he's just taking advantage of the opportunity to cause trouble."

"It's his family's wealth that makes him deserve to be reduced to this state."

The whispers would not reach the carriage because the men guarding the carriage were all carrying guns, but when he was away, he probably heard more rumors than this one.

The carriage stopped at Guiyuan. The woman who came out to greet them was not Sister Ying from before. She looked at Bai Jingtang and said, "Oh, why did Qinghuan come so late? The guests are waiting anxiously."

"Did they sleep in Guiyuan at night? How anxious could they be so early in the morning?" Bai Jinglang said lightly.

The woman's expression changed slightly, but she smiled brightly in the blink of an eye: "Hey, it's because I like you, otherwise who would run to Guiyuan so early in the morning?"

The sound of silk music could already be heard in Guiyuan. Even though it was so early in the morning, there were still quite a few people here. However, the people passing by were drunk. Some of them saw Bai Jingyan with wine glasses in hand and came over directly, wanting to touch him. "I've been waiting all night for you to come, Qinghuan."

Bai Jingtang took a step back, and the people behind him stopped the guest. The woman went over and said something nice: "Master Zhao, Qinghuan still needs to make preparations. Can I drink with you?"

"Get lost, you are nothing, how can you compare to Qinghuan in prettiness." The man came forward but was stopped by several men.

"What? I can't touch an actor? I know he is your boss Liu's cash cow, but he only earns more than a thousand silver dollars a day singing in Guiyuan. I'll give him ten thousand. How about you, little beauty, accompany me for a drink?" The man laughed.

Bai Jinglang took a deep breath, walked around the blockage and headed backstage.

The man was still shouting, "Don't leave! What's wrong with looking down on your Master Zhao? Damn, she's just a slut who's been slept with, and she's putting on airs for me!!! Fuck!"

The words that followed became increasingly unbearable to hear. Bai Jinglang clenched his fists and went straight backstage.

Put on makeup, change costumes, go on stage and sing, one show after another.

Even though a piece of Qinghuan's song is worth a thousand gold coins, if they sing and perform every day, the venue will not be as packed as before.

She sang all day long, sometimes not even having time to drink water. At the end of the day, when Bai Jingjian took off her makeup, her face looked a little pale.

He sat in the carriage, rubbing his stomach, obviously feeling a little uncomfortable. Lin Su sat beside him, looked at his face and sighed softly.

Bai Jingyan's eyes, which had been slightly closed, opened. He looked at the place where the sigh came from and opened his mouth, but with a hint of timidity: "Is it you?"

"It's me. I'm sorry I'm late." Lin Su said.

Bai Jingtang shook his head, his eyes starting to redden: "It's not too late, as long as you come back."

The carriage stopped and the door was opened from the outside. The driver looked at Bai Jingtang's expression and said, "Why are you still crying?"

"I'm tired." Bai Jingtang's expression was slightly cold. This was clearly not the place to talk. He suppressed his emotions and got out of the car. He went straight to his own courtyard and closed the gate. He lit a candle in the room and closed the door before tentatively asking, "Are you still there?"

"Here." Lin Su hugged him from behind, but felt the slightly warm water on his hands.

The person in my arms trembled slightly, and the tears that had been held back fell down. His voice trembled slightly: "I thought you would never come back..."

He was not as good at controlling his emotions as he would be a hundred years later. His tears fell on Lin Su's hands, but it felt like they were falling on his heart. "I'm sorry, it's my fault."

In the end, he left him in the past and could only face the rumors alone.

"It's okay." Bai Jingtang turned around and hugged him, saying, "It's not your fault."

"It's my fault this time." Lin Su sighed. He took it for granted and thought time would stop there, but he didn't expect such a change.
