Chapter 20 Witness

"Did you hear that, Xiao Jie? Even the researchers say it's possible!" A bystander excitedly shouted to Xiao Jie, his eyes filled with boundless anticipation for the future.

"It's amazing! I feel like I've become several years younger, as if I've returned to my childhood when I used to look up at the stars." An old lady gripped her cane tightly, her eyes slightly moist, her face full of emotion and envy.

“This is not just a child’s dream, but also an awakening of the cosmic dream that has been dormant in our hearts.” Another middle-aged woman whispered to her husband beside her. The two smiled at each other, their understanding and encouragement evident in their words.

"Tomorrow, we must come and see these little rockets fly in real life!" Several children running past after school shouted as they turned back, their voices full of eagerness and longing.

As the last rays of the setting sun disappeared below the horizon and night quietly fell, the area in front of the Science and Technology Museum was far from quiet. Instead, it became even more lively with anticipation for tomorrow's rocket test flight. Passersby stopped in their tracks, discussing the upcoming event with eager expressions.

"Have you heard? A mystery guest is coming to watch our rocket test flight. He's supposedly a heavyweight in the aerospace industry!" A young photographer with a camera excitedly shared the news he had just heard with those around him, causing an uproar among the crowd, with murmurs rising and falling.

"It seems our town is about to witness an unprecedented space extravaganza!" A father lifted his child high in the air, allowing the child to feel the call from the stars. The child's clear laughter echoed through the night sky.

On the eve of the event, the organizers sat around a round table in the museum to finalize all the details.

“We are quite well prepared, but if that mystery guest is really a big shot in the aerospace industry, shouldn’t we prepare some special presentations?” Li Haoran rubbed his hands together, a hint of tension and anticipation flashing in his eyes.

Su Mo chuckled and shook her head. "No matter who comes, we just need to show our truest selves and the children's love for space. That sincerity is what touches people's hearts the most."

Mo Qingxue appeared remarkably composed. "Yes, we've done a fantastic job. Tomorrow, let our rocket take flight, carrying everyone's dreams with it. That's enough."

The night was deep, and the moonlight, like water, gently covered every heart burning with dreams. In a corner of the museum, Xiao Jie quietly shared his little secret with Lin Yue, "Sister Lin Yue, if I really can go to space, I will definitely draw the stars there and send them to you."

Lin Yue gently patted Xiao Jie's head, her eyes full of tenderness and encouragement. "I look forward to that day. Until then, remember to tell more people about your dream, so that they can also be inspired by your passion."

As the conversation subsided, the brightest stars in the night sky seemed to be listening, twinkling with approval. The town's night was no longer ordinary, for under this starry sky, every dream, every expectation, was quietly converging into an unstoppable force, marching towards a wider universe.

"Then, see you tomorrow. Let's witness the moment our dreams take flight together," Su Mo said softly, her tone filled with anticipation and determination.

The following morning, as the sun rose, its golden rays bathed every corner of the town. The area in front of the Science and Technology Museum was already packed with people, bustling with excitement. The diverse crowds formed a vibrant, colorful river, everyone eagerly awaiting that historic moment.

"Wow, so many people! Dad, can I really see the rocket fly?" A child stood on tiptoe, straining to see into the crowd, his eyes sparkling with curiosity and longing.

“Of course, darling, we’re here to witness a miracle,” the father replied with a smile, while holding his child’s hand tightly to keep them from getting lost in the crowd.

"I heard that even the mayor is coming today, as well as that mysterious big shot in the aerospace industry. I really want to know who he is!" Two young men whispered to each other, their words full of speculation and anticipation.

A clear and rousing announcement rang out: "Distinguished guests, the rocket test flight ceremony is about to begin. Please maintain order and prepare for this exciting moment..."

The crowd fell silent instantly, all eyes turning to the makeshift launch platform erected in front of the museum. Xiao Jie and his friends, dressed in matching white lab coats, stood beside the rocket, their faces radiating confidence and pride. Lin Yue stood a short distance away, offering Xiao Jie silent support with her warm gaze.

“Look at those children, they’re so enviable. I wish I could go back to that age when there were so many possibilities,” a middle-aged man sighed. His wife leaned gently on his shoulder, and the two of them were immersed in that pure and touching moment.

As the countdown began, everyone's heartbeats seemed to quicken in sync: "Ten, nine, eight..."

"Three, two, one, launch!" Li Haoran's voice rang out over the loudspeaker. Immediately afterward, accompanied by a roar, the rocket soared into the sky amidst everyone's attention, piercing the heavens and leaving a dazzling trail.

The crowd erupted in thunderous applause and cheers, with the children's screams especially loud: "It's flying! It's flying!"

"Unbelievable! Such a miracle can happen in our small town!" The old lady was so excited that tears welled up in her eyes, and her hand gripping her cane trembled slightly.

Just as everyone was immersed in boundless shock and joy, a middle-aged man in a suit and tie, with an extraordinary demeanor, slowly walked into the center of the crowd, accompanied by security personnel. He was none other than the legendary heavyweight figure in the aerospace industry—Dr. Zhang.

"It's truly amazing, kids, you did it!" Dr. Zhang's words echoed throughout the venue through the microphone, his eyes filled with praise and encouragement.

"Dr. Zhang, what do you think of our rocket's performance?" Xiao Jie mustered his courage and asked him on behalf of the team.

Dr. Zhang smiled kindly and leaned down to Xiao Jie, saying, "It's not just about rockets, but more importantly, about your passion and dreams. Remember, true space exploration begins on this land beneath our feet and ends in the stars. Your future is limitless."

As the conversation ended, the crowd erupted in cheers once more. Dr. Zhang's affirmation undoubtedly added extra weight to this rocket test flight event, and ignited new hope and dreams in the hearts of every participant.

"Thank you, Dr. Zhang! We will continue to work hard and strive for even greater heights!" Xiao Jie responded loudly, his voice firm and passionate, echoing in every corner and resonating in the hearts of countless people.

Night fell once more, and the starry sky over the town shone brighter than ever before. In an unassuming little café, Dr. Zhang sat around a table with Li Haoran, Su Mo, Mo Qingxue, and others, their conversation continuing under the warm lighting, about dreams, technology, and the future.

"Next, how can we continue to inspire children's passion for space and keep this passion burning?" Li Haoran asked, his eyes revealing a deep longing for the future.

Dr. Zhang took a small sip of coffee and said meaningfully, "Remember, the key to keeping dreams burning is to get more people involved, not just children, but also their families, friends, and even the whole society. Space should belong to everyone."
