Chapter 308 Good News

Everyone present quickly entered a state of combat readiness, tense yet orderly. The villagers, weapons in hand, displayed unwavering determination in their eyes; the soldiers swiftly formed battle formations, ready to meet any potential enemy at any moment.

Arya gripped her bow tightly, her heart pounding but her eyes remaining sharp. "Arthur, can we really win?"

Arthur turned and smiled at her. "Arya, remember, as long as your belief is firm, there is nothing you cannot overcome. Now what we need to do is find the enemy's lair as soon as possible and annihilate them in one fell swoop!"

Karl stood at the front of the line and shouted, "Everyone, listen up! No matter what happens, remember that unity is the most important thing! Follow the Lightbringer, and we will surely succeed!"

The little boy beside him held his father's hand excitedly, "Dad, I want to fight alongside you and do something to protect our homeland."

The father patted his son's head comfortingly, "Wait until you're a little older, son. For now, stay here and pray for us." Then he said to the soldier beside him, "Please, you must destroy that evil being! The children are watching us!"

"Don't worry, brother! With the help of the 'Lightbringer' and many heroes, victory will surely belong to the side of justice!" the warrior said boldly, patting his chest.

At this moment, the old villager who had raised the question earlier stepped forward again and asked, "Lord Arthur, before we set off, could you please tell me the answer to one question? Who exactly started this disaster? This seems to have a significant impact on our strategy..."

Faced with this question, Arthur pondered for a moment before replying, "Old man, you're right. This crucial clue is indeed extremely important. In fact, I've already sent people to investigate this matter, but to save time, we need to take a two-pronged approach—on the one hand, we need to track down the mastermind behind this, and on the other hand, we need to resolve the current crisis as soon as possible. After all, every minute of delay increases the danger to innocent lives."

The old hunter nodded in agreement and sighed, "Well, well then, let's deal with the immediate crisis first. Hopefully, those who bravely seek the truth will bring back good news soon."

"Go!" Karl shouted, and with that command, the entire team began to march into the unknown.

Just as the people were focused on their journey, a sentry suddenly exclaimed, "Wait... there's something strange coming this way! It looks like some kind of creature!"

Following the direction he was pointing, everyone saw a huge, blurry figure rapidly approaching from not far away. "What's that?" Various guesses arose from the crowd.

"Stay alert and don't make any rash moves!" Leon immediately ordered, while keeping a watchful eye on what lay ahead.

As the distance closed, they realized it was a tall, handsome humanoid figure wearing a magnificent cloak. "Is he... a friendly force or an enemy spy?"

Just as everyone was confused, the person took the initiative to greet them: "Don't worry, everyone. I'm a friend who's here to help you through this difficult time. My name is Lorenzo, and I'm a mage who specializes in fighting against the forces of darkness. I noticed something unusual happening on your side from afar and decided to come and lend a hand."

Arya looked the uninvited guest up and down, and asked with slight surprise, "How did you happen to be here and know all the inside information?"

Lorenzo smiled gently and explained, "Actually, I've been closely monitoring any unusual changes happening in this area and trying to gather relevant intelligence in order to take action."

“Oh…I see. Thank you so much for arriving in time and providing assistance!” Arthur extended his hand in welcome. “Having more powerful allies join our ranks will naturally make it easier to defeat the evil forces! But could you elaborate on the ‘information’ you mentioned? Perhaps it could help speed things up.”

Upon hearing Arthur's words, Lorenzo nodded in agreement and then said seriously, "According to my personal understanding, the great mage who controls the monster is named Celesto. He was once my junior fellow disciple. Driven astray by his greed for power, he learned forbidden arts and has been hiding in a secret cave deep in the forest, casting spells to summon demons and disrupt the peace of the world..."

Just then, a deafening sound came from the sky, attracting everyone's attention. "Look, isn't something appearing over there?!" a villager shouted, pointing to the sky.

A shadow slowly descended from the clouds, forming a swirling pattern in mid-air...

Arthur's expression was grave. "It seems our movements have been detected. Lorenzo, what's the next step?"

“Just proceed according to plan,” Lorenzo replied calmly. “But before that, there’s one last thing I want to confirm—are you willing to take on greater responsibility and become a true leader to lead us all against the darkness?”

Arthur nodded. "I will do everything in my power to protect this land and its people, no matter what."

Just as the atmosphere was becoming increasingly tense, a series of eerie low hums emanated from the center of the mysterious black cloud, like some ominous note floating in the air...

The villagers murmured amongst themselves, unsure of their impending fate. Arya gripped her weapon tightly, gazing into the distance as if she could see a glimmer of hope in the darkness…

As the dark cloud drew closer, the tension among the crowd reached its peak. The villagers huddled together, their eyes filled with both fear and determination. Karl gripped his longsword tightly, his gaze sharp as an eagle's, and whispered to the soldiers beside him, "Maintain formation, prepare for battle!"

"Lord Arthur, are we really going to confront this mysterious force head-on?" Arya's voice carried a hint of unease.

Arthur patted her on the shoulder, his gaze resolute: "Yes, Arya. Now that the enemy has come knocking, there is no reason to back down. We must prove our resolve with our actions."

Lorenzo nodded, spreading his arms wide, a soft light surrounding him, clearly preparing for the impending battle. "Rest assured, my friends. I will do everything in my power to protect you all."

Suddenly, the dark clouds in the sky began to twist and deform, as if an invisible giant hand was slowly reaching down from the sky to the ground. With a tearing sound, a group of flying demonic beasts appeared from the dark clouds—they looked like giant bats, but had human arms, and they kept emitting sharp roars.

“This is…” Karl stared in astonishment at what he saw, his tone filled with shock but even more so with anger, “These monsters are so rampant!”

"Don't be afraid, brothers!" Leon roared. "With so many brave warriors, what is there to fear?"

As soon as she finished speaking, a bat-like monster swooped down with incredible speed, its target the center of the group. But just as it was about to touch the crowd, a flash of white light appeared, and Arya's arrow pierced its chest with pinpoint accuracy, knocking it down from the air.

"That's amazing!" a little boy exclaimed excitedly. "Is that Aunt Arya? She looks so cool shooting arrows!"

"Of course he's amazing!" the little boy's father said with a smile. "Watch closely, this is a true hero!"

“Thank you for the compliment, but we can’t relax yet.” Arya replied with a smile, while drawing another arrow from her quiver, ready for the next attack.

At the same time, Celesto's voice suddenly came from the dark clouds, echoing throughout the entire battlefield: "Foolish humans, do you think you can defeat me so easily? You have no idea what kind of enemy you are facing!"

Lorenzo's expression was grave. "Celesto, you have betrayed the light. Now, I will punish you in the name of the light!"

Another arrogant laugh echoed from the dark clouds, "Then let's see who has the last laugh!"

With that, countless bat monsters swarmed out like mushrooms after rain, rushing towards the crowd below. The battle had officially begun!

The villagers took up arms and fought back, displaying astonishing courage and strength under the leadership of Arthur and Lorenzo. Dust filled the air, magical light shimmered, and shouts of battle echoed across the battlefield.

Just as the two sides were locked in fierce combat, Arthur suddenly noticed a figure rapidly approaching in the distance. It was a woman dressed in a long black robe, emanating an elusive aura...

“She is…” Arthur’s heart stirred, and he vaguely felt that this person might be the key figure to change the course of the war.

“Lord Arthur, look over there! Who is that person?” Karl followed Arthur’s gaze and also spotted the stranger.

Just as the two were filled with doubt, the new woman suddenly spoke up: "I'm here to help you deal with Celesto. Please trust me."

Upon hearing this, everyone's attention immediately turned to her. At this moment, although the battle remained fierce, they seemed to have encountered an unexpected turning point…

"Is she trustworthy? Could she be another spy sent by Celesto?" an old hunter asked warily.

"Only time will tell," Arthur said in a deep voice, "but we have no other choice."

“Alright then, we’ll trust her for now.” Karl nodded, then gave orders to the soldiers around him, “Intensify the offensive! Don’t give the enemy a chance to breathe!”

With the addition of new characters, how will this war against the forces of darkness unfold? And what surprises or unexpected changes will this mysterious woman bring?

Arthur turned to the strange woman and asked earnestly, "What's your name? Why are you here? And most importantly, can you bring us victory?"

The mysterious woman smiled slightly and replied, "I can tell you these questions after we defeat Celesto. The most important thing now is to find his weakness as soon as possible. Only in this way can we have a chance to turn the tide. Trust me, I'm on your side."

After a moment of silence, Arthur finally made his decision. "Alright, then let's work together. I hope you're telling the truth, otherwise..."

Before the words were even finished, an unprecedented and fierce battle quietly began on the land beneath their feet...
