"Xiaoxue, it's not very safe here at night. I'll take you home if your tutoring sessions go on too late. Just focus on your studies."
Mo Qingxue paused slightly, turned around, and her dark eyes, illuminated by the starlight, shone with an indescribable brilliance. She said softly, "Thank you, Su."
Su Mo smiled and waved her hand, "Of course, I'll go back now. You should go in too, don't make Grandma worry."
Watching Su Mo's figure gradually disappear into the night, Mo Qingxue stood at her doorstep, a warmth spreading through her heart like waves. She gently pushed open the door; the dim light inside contrasted sharply with the darkness outside, and her grandmother was dozing in front of the television.
"Grandma, I'm back," Mo Qingxue called softly.
The old lady suddenly woke up, her eyes full of love: "Xiaoxue, you're back. Are you tired? Sit down and rest."
"Grandma, I met someone today, and he... was very kind to me." Mo Qingxue sat beside her grandmother, speaking softly, her eyes sparkling with a rare light.
Grandma stroked her hair affectionately and said with a smile, "Is that so? Our Xiaoxue is so outstanding, she will definitely meet many good people."
"Grandma, he said he'll tutor me again tomorrow. I think I can help him get into university, so I can repay him for his kindness to me." Mo Qingxue's voice was filled with determination.
"Good child, as long as you're happy, Grandma will support you." Grandma's words were full of boundless affection.
As night deepened, Mo Qingxue lay in bed, Su Mo's words echoing in her ears, her heart filled with both sweetness and unease. Tomorrow would be a new beginning, and she secretly resolved to help Su Mo realize his dream of attending university.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the window, gently illuminating Mo Qingxue's face. She got up early, ate a simple breakfast, and, carrying her schoolbag, set off on her way to Su Mo's house, full of anticipation.
Su Mo's home was much more spacious and bright than Mo Qingxue's small house. When the doorbell rang, Su Mo opened the door himself. When he saw Mo Qingxue, his smile was warm and bright: "Little Xue, you're here! Come on, let's start today's lesson."
Inside the room, Su Mo's attentive listening filled Mo Qingxue with a strange sense of satisfaction. Her problem-solving methods were unique, always able to easily find Su Mo's weaknesses and provide guidance, and Su Mo's rapid progress exceeded everyone's expectations.
"Teacher Xiaoxue, your problem-solving approach is amazing! I feel like I've finally figured it out!" Su Mo excitedly slapped her thigh.
Upon hearing this, Mo Qingxue's cheeks flushed slightly, and she said softly, "Su, your progress is the most important thing. Let's work hard together."
These days were peaceful and fulfilling. With daily tutoring, Su Mo's grades rose like a rocket, and the relationship between the two also changed quietly without them realizing it.
One afternoon, Su Mo and Mo Qingxue sat side by side on the swing in the backyard, a gentle breeze carrying the fragrance of flowers.
"Xiaoxue, have you thought about your future?" Su Mo suddenly asked.
Mo Qingxue paused, lowered her head and pondered for a moment, then said softly, "I... want to become a teacher so that more children like me who have been overlooked can find their confidence."
Su Mo gazed at her, his eyes sparkling with unprecedented seriousness: "I believe you can definitely achieve this wish. And I will do everything I can to help you."
Mo Qingxue looked up, their eyes met, and their hearts seemed to draw closer at that moment.
"Su Mo, if... I mean if, one day I become no longer ordinary, will you still treat me as well as you do now?" Mo Qingxue's voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz, yet it contained all her courage.
Su Mo smiled warmly: "Xiao Xue, no matter what you become, you are you, unique and irreplaceable. For me, that's enough."
As the sun set, its afterglow bathed the small town in a golden hue, and the streets and alleys were filled with the hustle and bustle of students leaving school. Mo Qingxue and Su Mo walked out of the school gate side by side, attracting many sidelong glances and whispers from their classmates.
"Look, that's Su Mo and Mo Qingxue. They've been inseparable lately," a girl whispered.
"I heard that Mo Qingxue is an amazing student. Su Mo's grades have improved so much thanks to her," another boy added, his tone full of envy.
Upon hearing these words, Su Mo smiled faintly and looked at Mo Qingxue beside her: "It seems that our efforts have attracted the attention of quite a few people."
Mo Qingxue chuckled: "Yes, but isn't this exactly the result we wanted? To prove to everyone that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it."
As they chatted and walked, they inadvertently came to an old bookstore. The bookstore owner, Grandpa Wang, was sitting at the entrance fanning himself with a palm-leaf fan. Seeing the two, his eyes lit up: "Oh, Xiaoxue and Su Mo, looking for books again?"
"Hello, Uncle Wang, we'd like to find some study materials for the exam today," Mo Qingxue replied politely.
Grandpa Wang smiled and nodded: "You two are really diligent. Come, come, I just received a batch of new books, they should be helpful for your exam preparation."
Upon entering the bookstore, the air was filled with the distinctive scent of ink from the pages. Following Mr. Wang's recommendation, Su Mo picked out several workbooks, while Mo Qingxue was drawn to a book on educational psychology with an elegantly simple cover.
"This book looks good. Xiaoxue, you have a lot of passion for education. You might find it helpful," Su Mo encouraged, noticing Mo Qingxue's gaze.
"Yes, I will study hard. Thank you, Su Mo, for always being so supportive." Mo Qingxue looked at him gratefully.
It was already late when I came out of the bookstore. The streets were sparsely populated, with only one or two residents walking their dogs occasionally passing by, their cheerful barking adding a touch of life to the quiet night.
"Woof woof! Look at those two, they seem like a perfect match." A little dog stopped and barked at them twice. Its owner then laughed and said, "Haha, even the little dog is envious."
Su Mo and Mo Qingxue smiled at each other, a warm feeling welling up in their hearts.
And so, the days passed quietly amidst busyness and warmth. In the blink of an eye, the bell rang for the college entrance examination, and the examination hall was crowded with anxious parents and candidates, the atmosphere tense yet full of hope.
The bell finally rang, signaling the end of the exam, and the crowd surged out like a tide. Su Mo and Mo Qingxue were among them, their faces showing fatigue, but even more so, relief and anticipation.
"The exam is over. No matter the result, I feel that all the hard work during this time was worthwhile." Su Mo took a deep breath, looked at Mo Qingxue, and her eyes were full of determination.
“Me too. What makes me even happier is having you by my side on this journey.” Mo Qingxue gently squeezed Su Mo’s hand, and at that moment, a silent strength was conveyed between their palms.
Just then, a passerby who looked like a teacher walked by, witnessed the scene, and couldn't help but sigh, "Young people are so wonderful; their purity and courage always inspire admiration."
Su Mo and Mo Qingxue looked up and smiled at the unfamiliar teacher's sentiments. They knew that no matter how winding the road ahead might be, as long as they were together, nothing was impossible.
