Chapter 202 Comrades

Chen Ge frowned, a look of shock and complex emotion flashing in his eyes. "How...how did you get here?" He could hardly believe his eyes.

"Haha, long time no see, Chen Ge." The person at the front smiled slightly; it was Wright, Chen Ge's old comrade-in-arms. His eyes also bore the marks of time. "I heard they've encountered some difficulties here, so naturally we won't stand idly by."

Chen Ge's gaze swept across everyone's faces, finally settling on a familiar figure. "Arisa? How could you..." Aresa was an old acquaintance of Chen Ge's from his youth, and also the object of his former secret crush.

Aresa lowered her head slightly, her cheeks flushed. "We heard about the fighting here, so... we hope to do our part."

Quiet whispers began to circulate among the crowd. New recruit Tom couldn't help but ask Carlos beside him, "Who are these people? General Morning Song seems to know them."

Carlos shook his head. "I don't know, but judging from Chen Ge's expression, these guys are definitely not simple."

"It's time to pool all our strength and overcome this difficult time together!" A gruff voice rang out from the crowd, drawing everyone's attention. It was Viske, who looked exceptionally energetic after returning from his expedition.

Chen Ge nodded, his gaze hardening once more. "That's true. Thank you for coming to our aid. However, the enemy is getting closer, and we must make adjustments immediately."

“That’s right, time is of the essence.” Wright patted Chen Ge on the shoulder. “If you need any help, just say so. We won’t leave our former brother to face all this alone.”

Ares then stepped forward, "Let's not worry about that now. Now that everyone's here, we need to set up our defenses quickly. There are quite a few enemies; we must be prepared as soon as possible!"

Just then, even more rapid footsteps and the roars of monsters came from afar. "They're here! They're really here!" someone shouted, and the atmosphere on the entire battlefield instantly became extremely tense.

"Everyone, listen to my orders," Chen Ge quickly regained his composure, "Immediately proceed with the previously established evacuation plan. Remember to protect the safety of the innocent!" After he finished speaking, he turned to the newly arrived reinforcements, "Please follow Ares and the others to the designated positions to establish a defensive line."

At the command, everyone sprang into action like arrows released from a bow. The veterans led their respective teams forward; while Lena remained at the rear, playing that morale-boosting tune, her youthful yet resolute voice a warm ray of light in the darkness…

Just as everyone was immersed in the busy and tense atmosphere, a slight explosion was heard not far away, followed by panicked shouts: "It's bad! Those new things have actually rushed into our position...!"

Upon hearing this news, even Aresa, who always wore a smile and offered encouragement to others, changed her expression. "What does this mean?" she asked urgently, turning to Wright, who was directing the operation.

Wright gritted his teeth, his eyes unusually serious: "This shows that this battle is far more difficult than we imagined. We must adopt a more aggressive strategy to break the current deadlock. Morning Song—"

"I understand." Before the other person could finish speaking, Chen Ge stepped forward, his voice firm and powerful: "No matter what happens, we must persevere to the end. This is our mission as guardians. Now, please come with me to meet the new challenge!"

"Hopefully, we can turn the tide this time..." Lena murmured to herself, watching the figure gradually disappear into the darkness.

At that very moment, that mysterious light reappeared in the sky, but this time it did not linger. Instead, it swept across the battlefield and headed into the distance, as if guiding a direction.

"Wait, could it be... that thing is telling us to go that way?" Carlos suddenly realized something and quickly pointed it out to his companion.

With this discovery, more soldiers looked up at the starry sky, a strong premonition rising in their hearts—perhaps the key to truly changing their fate lay in that place guided by light...

"Regardless, at least we've shown them a way forward." Ares gazed thoughtfully at the last ray of light fading into the clouds, and said, "Before we set off, let's ensure the current front lines are secure. We absolutely cannot let anyone else sacrifice themselves in vain..."

Chen Ge, along with Wright, Aresa, and several other veterans, charged towards the area where the newly appeared monsters were located. As their pace quickened, the surrounding warriors couldn't help but murmur among themselves.

"These guys are really amazing! General Chen Ge's friends don't seem to be ordinary people at all!" a young soldier exclaimed to his comrade.

Another middle-aged soldier nodded in agreement: "That's right. Just by looking at their equipment and demeanor, you can tell they must be experienced warriors."

“Especially that lady named Aretha, did you notice her hands? She seems to be able to summon some kind of power at any moment,” the young guard added.

Meanwhile, Chen Ge and his reinforcements were approaching the enemy. "Everyone spread out and try to hold the enemy back! We'll launch our attack from here!" Wright shouted to the soldiers who had come with him, while Ares helped coordinate the troops.

Suddenly, a massive black shadow leaped from the darkness ahead and pounced on the group. It was a gigantic wolf-like demonic beast, its eyes gleaming with greedy ferocity. "Everyone, be careful!" Chen Ge reacted quickly, immediately warning those around him and drawing his longsword at the same time.

Just as the giant beast was about to land, Aresa gently waved her hands, gathering a mysterious energy wave in mid-air and releasing it forward, instantly forming a protective shield that safely protected everyone inside. "Thank you for your cover, but this is only temporary..." Chen Ge said gratefully, then looked around to consider a countermeasure.

Meanwhile, recruit Tom, on his way to deliver a message, accidentally got separated from his group. Just as he was panicking, he suddenly heard a faint sound coming from the nearby bushes. "Who...who's there?" he whispered, when a hand suddenly reached out and pulled him back a few steps from his original position.

"It's me, young man. Don't be afraid, Brother Carlos is here." The familiar and steady voice reassured Tom. "You almost got caught by those monsters lying in ambush just now. You must be more vigilant next time!"

When the two friends returned to camp to report on the latest developments, they ran into a squad preparing to set off to scout the enemy. The leader seemed surprised to see Tom: "Hey, isn't this the kid who just arrived? What are you doing here?"

Carlos patted his young brother beside him and said, "Don't underestimate him. Although he's young, he's quite clever on the battlefield. And with me watching over him, I guarantee there won't be any danger."

And so, the two were temporarily assigned to a reconnaissance team and went together to the unknown front lines for a reconnaissance mission. Along the way, they encountered all sorts of dangerous situations and tests, but thanks to their mutual trust, cooperation, and courage, they were always able to overcome them and get through them successfully.

As night fell, a dazzling white light suddenly streaked across the sky, seemingly pointing towards a distant destination. "What...what does this light mean?" Tom murmured thoughtfully, gazing into the distance, drawing the attention of the others.

“Whatever the reason,” Chen Ge said firmly, standing beside him, “we have no reason to turn back. Let’s follow this light; perhaps the final answer to this battle is hidden there.”

As his words fell, the entire team embarked on their journey once more, braving the winds and waves towards the unknown. But not long after they left, ominous fluctuations began to stir again in the once quiet rear base…

Meanwhile, Vesik, stationed near the base, received a new urgent report. A scout rushed into the command post, his face covered in sweat, and hurriedly said, "Captain, the enemy is amassing a large force to attack our right flank. If reinforcements don't arrive soon..." He was stopped in his tracks by Vesik's stern gaze.

“Okay, I’ll contact Chen Ge immediately and let them know about this.” Viske made a quick decision and picked up his communicator to send a message. “But until then, we must hold on. Every bit of perseverance is a way to buy us precious time!”

However, at that moment, a huge roar came from not far away, and the entire camp was violently shaken... Everyone involuntarily looked in the direction of the sound, their hearts filled with unease and questions.

"What happened?!" a soldier shouted, but no one could answer. Even the most composed commanders were now filled with surprise.
