Chen Ge led the team through the dense forest, quickly advancing towards the direction where the newly appeared monsters had appeared. The night was as black as ink, broken only by the distant roars of monsters and the breathing of the warriors. Suddenly, a sharp howl erupted ahead, causing everyone to stop in their tracks.
"Prepare for battle!" Chen Ge raised his longsword and commanded in a low voice, "Everyone, maintain your formation and try to avoid unnecessary casualties!"
Wright added from the side, "Arisa, you're in charge of protecting the inexperienced recruits. Morning Song and I will lead the charge."
Aresa nodded, a determined glint in her eyes: "I understand. Please be careful as well."
The column continued its advance, tense yet orderly. At that moment, a young soldier couldn't help but whisper, "They're really amazing... that woman named Aresa can actually cast such powerful magic."
“Yeah,” another soldier nodded in agreement, “watching her move so effortlessly is like watching a movie.”
Meanwhile, Tom and Carlos were assigned to a reconnaissance team and were making their way along a hidden path. Tom seemed a little nervous, but Carlos was there to comfort him greatly.
“Don’t be nervous, lad,” Carlos patted Tom on the shoulder. “Trust your judgment and stay alert. That way you won’t easily get into danger.”
Tom took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down: "Well, thank you, Brother Carlos. I'll try my best not to hold everyone back."
Just then, a magical beast suddenly darted out of the bushes, startling everyone so much that they almost screamed. Fortunately, Carlos reacted quickly, knocking the small magical beast to the ground with a single punch.
"Well done, Carlos!" the captain said approvingly. "It seems we need to be more careful. There are more enemies here than we thought."
Tom wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and whispered, "That was really dangerous... If it weren't for your help, I might have been eaten."
Carlos smiled and said, "That's the meaning of teamwork. Supporting each other and overcoming difficulties together."
Meanwhile, Chen Ge and his group finally arrived at the enemy's stronghold. It was indeed a makeshift base, surrounded by all sorts of monsters and orc warriors.
"Are you ready?" Wright turned to look at his companions.
“We’re ready to act at any time!” Ares said confidently, clenching his fist.
Just as they were about to charge forward, a loud explosion came from the center of the camp. Chen Ge immediately waved for everyone to halt their attack: "Wait! Something seems to have happened over there... We'd better check it out first."
A plume of black smoke rose from the center of the camp, followed by the slow ascent of a gigantic monster. Its terrifying aura seemed poised to devour the entire battlefield, creating a suffocating atmosphere.
"My God... what is that?!" A soldier gasped, almost unable to believe what he was seeing.
“This must be the legendary Abyss Dragon…” Wright explained solemnly. “We must take action immediately, or the entire team will face a devastating blow.”
At that moment, Aresa stepped forward, her gaze resolute: "Let me try to suppress it with magic."
"Arisa—" Chen Ge wanted to stop her, but knew it was the only option. "Please... please be careful!"
She smiled slightly, nodded, then closed her eyes and began chanting a spell...
Suddenly, another mysterious light appeared in the sky and began to move rapidly in a certain direction. "What is that now?" Wright asked, frowning in confusion.
Chen Ge looked up at the starry sky and said in a deep voice, "Whatever it is, it means our journey is far from over..."
Just as everyone held their breath in anticipation, the light in Aresa's hand gradually coalesced into a powerful magical beam. Her body seemed to resonate with the elements in the air; every breath and every heartbeat caused fluctuations in the surrounding natural world.
"Shield of Light!" With a soft shout, a dazzling golden halo instantly appeared around everyone, forming an unbreakable protective layer for them. Immediately afterward, "Frost Impact" was released from her hand, aimed directly at the giant dragon that had just emerged from the night. Arrows of ice streaked across the night sky like meteors, crashing towards their target with destructive force.
A soldier watching from afar secretly vowed, "This is a true mage! After this battle, I will definitely ask her to teach me how to become a qualified spellcaster."
Suddenly, a deafening roar ripped through the sky. The dragon, though temporarily restrained, was still struggling to escape the magical shackles. "Such immense power...this is something straight out of mythology," another newly joined team member murmured.
Meanwhile, Wright led a small elite squad directly into the heart of the enemy lines, attempting to draw their attention and relieve pressure on his teammates. "Everyone, stick close to me!" he shouted as he ran, "Don't let these monsters get too close to the main force!"
On the other side, Ares, responsible for protecting the newcomers, was equally formidable. He wielded his gun with one hand, spinning it several times before steadily piercing the throat of an oncoming orc. Witnessing this astonishing scene, the newcomers couldn't help but exclaim in amazement, "Truly worthy of being one of Lord Chen Ge's most capable assistants!"
Meanwhile, Tom joined Carlos in the front-line battle. After the previous little incident, he had become even more cautious. "Remember to always pay attention to changes in your surroundings, kid," Carlos said, while casually taking down a few small magical beasts that tried to attack the two of them.
Just when everyone thought the situation was about to improve, the mysterious light in the sky once again drew everyone's attention. Its trajectory eventually stopped at an undeveloped forest area on the westernmost side of the camp. "Looks like a new challenge awaits us," Wright said thoughtfully, gazing in that direction.
As the abyssal dragon became increasingly unstable under the onslaught, the entire battlefield descended into chaos. Even so, Chen Ge remained calm, continuously issuing tactical instructions: "Concentrate fire on its head! Try to distract it and prevent it from finding a breakthrough and launching a full-scale attack!"
As Aresa sensed her magic power dwindling, she knew this was her last chance to control the dragon. "A final gamble... Starfall!" Countless points of light rapidly gathered and then erupted, cascading downwards in a spectacular display that left the onlookers speechless. "That's amazing..." one of the young men trembled with excitement, barely able to speak.
Just when everyone thought victory was imminent, a strange yet threatening laugh suddenly echoed from the dense forest. Then, a figure gradually emerged, standing beside the dragon and coldly observing the outside world.
"You bunch of ignorant humans dare to invade our territory, it's laughable." The figure's voice was deep and full of disdain. "I am the guardian of this place—Shadow Mage Allen. Now let me teach you what true power is."
Chen Ge gripped his sword hilt tightly, his gaze piercing as he stared at the suddenly appearing enemy. An unprecedented tension filled the air. "No matter how powerful you are, if you violate everything we cherish, we will never back down!"
Wright looked at Chen Ge's determined gaze and nodded in support. "Then let's witness together who truly deserves to stand here," they said in unison.
As both sides braced themselves for a new round of battle, the entire battlefield seemed shrouded in an invisible pressure, awaiting the final showdown…
