Chapter 89 Tokens

"Hey, have you heard? Those young people actually did it! The Lightbringer and his team drove away the Shadows!" In a bustling tavern, two travelers were discussing the latest legendary event.

"Indeed, when I passed through the village, the festive atmosphere was even more enthusiastic than the harvest festival! Even the most stubborn old man admitted that there are unimaginable miracles in this world."

"Miracle my foot! That's proof of strength and courage! I heard from a blacksmith in the village that even the most cunning tomb raiders would avoid those traps, yet they managed to break through them one by one."

“Courage is one thing, but without wisdom and teamwork, it would have been nothing but a pile of scrap metal long ago.” Another man took a sip of his drink, his expression full of admiration. “Especially that young traveler, I heard that he is not only highly skilled in martial arts, but also has remarkable wisdom.”

In a corner of the tavern, several merchants dressed in various styles exchanged glances. One of them lowered his voice and said, "If word gets out, our business will probably be even more difficult. After all, where there are messengers of light, there is peace. How are we, who sell protective equipment, supposed to survive?"

“Haha, you guys are too pessimistic,” a seemingly experienced businessman laughed. “In this world, light and shadow always go hand in hand. Just because they’ve dealt with one shadow doesn’t mean other threats have disappeared. As long as there is fear and anxiety in the world, there will be a market for our business.”

Just then, a weary traveler pushed open the door and entered. He went straight to the bar and said to the owner in a hoarse voice, "Give me a glass of water. By the way, have you heard of any strange weather or disasters? I've heard that these are often omens of the appearance of fragments of light."

The bartender was taken aback, then nodded knowingly and whispered, "You've come to the right person. Strange lights have been appearing frequently in the Shadow Forest to the east lately, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain. Many people say it's eerie, but I think it might be what you're looking for."

The traveler nodded, took out a small compass from his pocket—the very gift the young traveler had given him—and the needle pointed steadily eastward. "Thanks. Looks like I'd better hurry." He downed a gulp of water and hurried away.

As his figure disappeared outside the door, the conversation in the tavern returned to the Lightbringer and his adventures. "You know, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could embark on a legendary journey like them?" a young farmer said, his eyes filled with longing.

"What are you thinking about? You should focus on farming your two acres first," the aunt next to her joked with a smile, but her words couldn't hide a hint of longing. "But honestly, the world is indeed more wonderful because of them."

As night fell, the tavern gradually quieted down, with only the crackling of the fireplace remaining. In this peaceful night, a seed of dreams was unconsciously planted in everyone's heart—perhaps one day, they too could become heroes sung about by others.

Somewhere in this world, a young traveler and Leia sit around a campfire, a map spread out before them, and a magical compass lying quietly in the center, pointing to the next unknown challenge.

“Leya, it seems we still have a long way to go.” The young traveler’s eyes shone brightly as he looked at the brightest star in the night sky. “But as long as there is light in our hearts, there is no place we cannot reach.”

“I am willing to follow you to the ends of the earth,” Leia replied firmly, her eyes shining with the same light.

The following morning, sunlight pierced through the thin mist, illuminating the road leading to the Shadow Forest. The young traveler and Leia walked side by side, their story quietly spreading through the towns along the way, inspiring countless people's fantasies and hopes.

Along the way, the two passed through a small village, where villagers gathered at the entrance, discussing the matter.

"Look, is that the legendary traveler? He doesn't look anything special," a villager muttered, eliciting a soft chuckle from the old man beside him.

“Young man, extraordinary people never show off. Don’t underestimate them.” A hint of admiration flashed in the old man’s weathered eyes. “When I was young, I also dreamed of traveling the world with a sword. Now I can only guard this field.”

“Do you know what we can’t do?” Leia stepped forward with a smile, her smile as warm as the spring sunshine, instantly bridging the distance between her and the villagers.

The old man squinted and looked into the distance. "If you can unravel the secrets of the Shadow Forest and bring back the fragments of light, then you will be true heroes."

"A secret? Fragments of light?" The young traveler frowned slightly, seemingly intrigued.

Just then, a little girl with pigtails squeezed through the crowd, ran up to Leia, and handed her a bunch of wildflowers. "Big sister, these are from me. I hope they bring you good luck!"

Leia bent down to accept the bouquet, her eyes sparkling with emotion. "Thank you, my little darling. We will carry your blessings with us on our journey."

The two continued on their way, attracting curious or awe-inspiring glances from passersby, and occasionally hearing exclamations of admiration from behind.

"I really envy them, being able to freely pursue their own destiny."

"I wish I had that courage..."

Night fell again, and the two set up camp at the edge of the forest. By the campfire, Leia asked softly, "Are you afraid? We're about to enter a place full of unknowns and dangers."

The young traveler smiled, his tone carrying an undeniable firmness, "With you by my side, there's nothing we can't overcome. Besides, light always follows darkness."

Deep in the forest, eerie lights flickered occasionally, accompanied by ominous murmurs, as if foreshadowing an impending challenge. However, this unease did not slow their pace; instead, it fueled their determination to explore the unknown.

Several days later, as they traversed the misty forest, they arrived at a strange clearing. In the center stood an ancient altar, above which floated a fragment radiating a soft light—the very fragment of light they had been searching for.

Just as the young traveler reached out to touch it, the ground suddenly trembled, and a huge shadow beast slowly emerged from the shadows, its eyes like abysses, staring at the intruder.

"Leya, prepare for battle," the young traveler whispered, drawing his longsword from his back, its tip gleaming with determination.

"Let's face it together, no matter what lies ahead." Leia nodded, gathering the power of nature in her hands, creating a lush green scene.

A thrilling battle is about to unfold, while in the distant tavern, the young farmer is vividly describing the traveler's tale to everyone, his eyes gleaming with an unprecedented light.

"Do you think they're fighting some terrifying monster again? It's such an enviable life."

The woman smiled without saying a word, but silently prayed that everyone with a dream could find their own path to light.
