Chapter 90 Shadow Beast

"Fight! For the light!" the young traveler roared. The air seemed to split in two as his sword flashed, and he charged toward the shadow beast like a bolt of lightning.

Although the villagers were far away, their conversations continued to unfold, revolving around the adventures of these two heroes.

"If it were me, I'd probably be terrified at the sight of a monster like that," a chubby boy sighed, his eyes filled with a mixture of envy and self-deprecation.

"Haha, don't underestimate yourself. Every hero has a first time." The aunt patted the boy on the shoulder and encouraged him, "They also got here step by step."

In the forest, the battle reached its climax. The young traveler's swordsmanship was superb; every swing accurately struck the shadow beast's vitals. However, the monster seemed to possess immortality; its wounds healed rapidly, and its counterattacks grew increasingly ferocious.

"We must find its weakness!" Leia shouted a warning while dodging attacks, her fingertips flying as she summoned entwining vines in an attempt to trap the Shadow Beast.

Just then, an unexpected discovery instantly reversed the course of the battle. During a dodge, the young traveler noticed that whenever the light of the fragments of light intensified, the shadow beasts became slightly sluggish. A thought struck him, and a plan came to him.

"Leya, lure it to the vicinity of the altar!" he shouted, then used himself as bait, deliberately revealing an opening to lure the Shadow Beast closer to the Shard of Light.

Leia understood and, using the power of nature, created an illusion, luring the Shadow Beast step by step to the foot of the altar. When the behemoth finally stepped into the direct range of the light fragments, it suddenly roared in pain, and its form began to blur.

"Now!" The young traveler seized the moment, leaping with all his might, his sword flashing like a dragon, aiming straight for the Shadow Beast's core.

With a deafening roar, the Shadow Beast vanished in the light, leaving only ripples spreading through the air. The fragments of light seemed to come alive at that moment, radiating a dazzling glow that gently enveloped the two heroes, healing their wounds.

"We did it!" Leia gasped, her joy overflowing.

“Yes, but this is just the beginning.” The young traveler gently stroked the fragment, an unprecedented power surging within him. “There are still many more fragments of light waiting for us to collect, and many more shadows to be dispelled.”

Under the cover of night, the two packed their belongings and continued their journey. Their story, like a candle flickering in the night wind, traveled further and further, igniting sparks in the hearts of countless people.

A few days later, a new customer arrived at the tavern. He excitedly shared with everyone, "Have you heard? The Lightbringer and his companions not only defeated the Shadow Beasts, but also purified a once barren land. It's said that now it's blooming with flowers and teeming with life!"

"It's unbelievable!" the young farmer exclaimed, a newfound determination in his eyes. "One day, I'll see the miracles they've created with my own eyes."

Beside the fire, the old man smiled slightly and said softly, "Everyone can be a part of changing the world; the important thing is whether you are willing to take that step."

Meanwhile, on a distant road, the young traveler and Leia gaze at the starry sky and the vast ocean, their hearts filled with boundless anticipation for the future.

"Where do we go next?" Leia asked, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

"The frozen lands of the north hold the legendary Heart of Frost, where another fragment of light may be hidden," the young traveler replied, his tone filled with determination and resolve.

“Then let’s work together to unveil every mystery of this world.” Leia took his hand, and the two smiled at each other as they embarked on a new journey.

Under the starlight, their figures gradually disappeared into the distance, leaving behind not only a legend of courage and wisdom, but also a phrase that echoed in the night sky:

"As long as you are here, no matter how far away the place is, it is our destination."

On their northward journey, the young traveler and Leia encountered endless snow-capped mountains and biting winds. Their figures appeared small yet resilient in the silver-clad world, each step demonstrating their fearlessness in the face of the unknown.

A traveling merchant, who was trudging through the snow, saw the two figures and stopped. He whispered to his companion, who was also bundled up tightly, "Look, aren't those the legendary Lightbringers and their companions? They are moving forward in this weather like snow wolves that are not afraid of the cold."

"Snow wolves? They're even more incredible than snow wolves. I've heard they can bring wastelands back to life. Could they be awakening this desolate snowfield as well?" Curiosity and a barely perceptible glimmer of hope flickered in his companion's eyes.

The village children sat around the hearth, and the old village chief gestured with his wrinkled hands as he told the story: "Once upon a time, there was a warrior and a witch who could communicate with nature. They braved hardships to search for the lost light and bring hope to the world. Perhaps one day, they will bring spring to us!"

The children's eyes widened, and one of the bolder little boys mustered up his courage to ask, "Can such a miracle really happen?"

"Child, as long as there is light in your heart, miracles will happen." The old village chief smiled, his eyes sparkling with the wisdom accumulated over the years.

In the frigid north, the young traveler and Leia finally arrived at an ancient and mysterious cave, where the legendary Heart of Frost was hidden. Outside the cave, several hunters were sitting around warming themselves. When they saw the two of them, they all looked at them with surprise.

"You're here to find the Frostheart? That's a place even the bravest warriors dare not venture into lightly," a burly man with a full beard questioned.

"That's exactly why we've come," the young traveler replied calmly, his eyes revealing an unwavering determination.

"Hmph, you ignorant brat! There's a freezing cold inside that can freeze your soul!" Another hunter, who seemed experienced, shook his head, his words full of disbelief.

Just as the atmosphere became a little awkward, Leia chuckled softly, her emerald eyes sparkling with a gentle light: "Perhaps we will bring back a different answer."

The two stepped into the cave, facing an unprecedented challenge. The cold was biting, and every breath felt like swallowing razor blades, but their unwavering belief made them fearless. In the deepest part, the Frostheart lay silently on an altar made of millennia-old ice, emitting a chilling blue light, beautiful yet dangerous.

"Are you ready?" The young traveler gripped his sword tightly and looked at Leia.

“I’ve been preparing all along.” Leia responded with a smile, clasping her hands together and chanting an ancient incantation. The surrounding ice crystals seemed to respond to her call, slowly beginning to rotate.

Just as they were about to touch the Heart of Frost, a long sigh echoed from the depths of the cave, and a cold, ancient voice resounded: "For the first time in a thousand years, anyone has dared to approach me so closely... Tell me, why do you seek the fragments of this world?"

"For the light, to dispel the darkness, and to restore peace and prosperity to the world," the young traveler answered with his chest out, every word brimming with power.

The ancient voice was silent for a moment, then let out a soft laugh: "Very well, then, accept my test."

As the words fell, the surrounding ice walls began to change, conjuring up scenes of bone-chilling trials, which the two overcame one by one with their wisdom and courage.

Finally, when they stood before the Heart of Frost once more, it was no longer cold, but radiated a warm light that merged into the young traveler's body, granting him new power.

"This is... the power of light," he murmured to himself, feeling the changes within his body.

Just as the two were about to leave, a large number of villagers and hunters suddenly gathered at the cave entrance. With awe and wonder, they watched the young traveler and Leia emerge from the cave, as if witnessing the birth of a legend.

“Look, they are the real heroes!” a young girl exclaimed excitedly.

"They did it! Even the guardians of the Frozen Lands acknowledge them," an elderly hunter exclaimed with deep emotion.

As she left, Leia glanced back at the fading light at the cave entrance and whispered, "No matter how unknown the road ahead, we must keep going, because—"

"As long as we are together, there is no place we cannot reach."
