As night deepened, the mysterious silhouette became increasingly clear in the distance, and a chill gradually spread. Chen Ge stood beside the swordsman, gripping her short sword tightly, her eyes filled with both fear and determination.
"Everyone, get into fighting stance, but don't attack rashly," the swordsman said in a low voice, his tone serious. "Hagg, you and Lilith go scout ahead."
"Yes!" Hag replied emphatically, and together with Lilith, they vanished silently into the night. Their movements were swift, like cheetahs in the darkness.
Their hearts pounded as the dark silhouette drew nearer. Suddenly, a hoarse voice echoed from the darkness: "I am the Shadow of Darkness... Who are you? Why have you intruded?"
A gaunt figure slowly emerged, shrouded in shadow except for a pair of scarlet eyes that seemed to burn with the flames of hell. He exuded a suffocating aura.
"We are messengers of light! We have come to seek the light and fight against the forces of darkness!" the young messenger answered loudly.
The shadow of darkness sneered, "Hmph, you ignorant fools...you're courting death!" With that, he lunged forward with astonishing speed.
"Watch out!" the archer shouted, quickly drawing back his bow and releasing an arrow. However, the arrow pierced through the shadow's body and flew straight past.
"How is this possible?" The archer stared in disbelief at the sight before him.
"Haha! I am part of darkness, an ethereal being!" The shadow of darkness laughed wildly as it charged toward the young messenger.
Just then, Hag and Lilith suddenly attacked from both sides. Lilith's blade gleamed coldly in the moonlight, striking the shadow of darkness accurately on one side, but causing no real damage. Hag swung his giant hammer down, but the shadow of darkness instantly turned into smoke and disappeared.
“This thing isn’t a physical entity!” Lilith said breathlessly.
Suddenly, a shadowy figure emerged from behind the young messenger, its hands gripping her throat, its scarlet eyes fixed on her: "Give up, little girl... Darkness will eventually devour everything."
Just then, the swordsman rushed in, wielding a silver longsword, shouting, "Blade of Radiance!" His sword erupted with dazzling light, as brilliant as the sunrise. The strike was incredibly precise, cleaving the core of the shadow of darkness, which writhed in agony and let out a piercing howl.
"What...what kind of power is this!" The shadow of darkness screamed as it retreated, transforming into a black whirlwind that spun in the air and gradually dissipated.
With all the threats gone, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Villagers rushed forward, asking with concern, "Are you alright? That was close!"
The young female messenger looked at the swordsman gratefully and said, "Thank you... If it weren't for your move, I would probably be in danger."
The swordsman smiled and gently patted her shoulder: "This is the trust and support between comrades. We've been through many difficulties together, and I believe there are many more challenges waiting for us in the future."
