Chapter 44 Destiny

“It is said that the Sage of Aurora can foresee the future, and even the wind in the forest obeys her will,” the young girl explained softly, her eyes sparkling with respect and curiosity for the sage she was about to meet.

The travelers in the group looked tired from the long journey, but still couldn't hide their excitement: "If I can really meet her, I have a lot of questions to ask her."

Just as everyone was discussing this, a bird with brightly colored feathers suddenly flew out of the forest and landed on the young girl's shoulder, carrying a long, thin parchment scroll in its beak. To everyone's surprise, the girl carefully unfolded the parchment scroll, on which was written in flowing script: "Go with the wind, follow the current, when the heart is calm, all things are revealed, and the wise will appear at the right time."

“It seems we’ve been noticed.” The burly man laughed heartily, feeling both curious and excited about this unexpected guidance.

Led by the birds, the team members ventured deeper into the forest with increasing caution, each breath seemingly carrying the fluctuations of ancient magic. After walking for an unknown amount of time, the view suddenly opened up before them. A stone hut, hidden among the trees, stood quietly, surrounded by strange runes that shimmered with a faint blue light, as if it were part of nature itself.

"Welcome, brave travelers." A gentle yet aged voice rang out in the air, but no one was in sight.

"Are you the Sage of Aurora?" the young girl stepped forward and asked respectfully.

"I am." As the voice fell, the door of the small house slowly opened, and an old woman with white hair walked out. Her face was kind, but her eyes were as deep as the Milky Way, as if she could see into people's hearts.

"How did you know we were coming?" the young nobleman couldn't help but ask curiously.

Aurora smiled slightly, gently shaking a string of crystal balls that emitted a faint glow in her hand: "In this forest, no secret can escape my eyes. Now, please come in, and let us talk in detail."

The room was simply furnished yet possessed an antique charm, with an ever-burning blue flame burning in the center, and the surrounding walls adorned with various totems and ancient books. Aurora invited everyone to sit down, then closed her eyes in contemplation for a moment before slowly speaking: "The resurgence of the evil spirits in the North is part of an ancient prophecy. But the prophecy also mentions that a group of heroes, carrying the power of light, will go against the tide and change everything."

"What should we do?" the farmer asked, his voice tinged with urgency.

Aurora's gaze swept over everyone present, finally settling on the young girl: "Among you, there is a talent that allows you to communicate with your own mind, and that is the key. But to completely defeat the evil spirit, you must find the lost artifact—the Heart of Ice, which has the power to seal away all evil forces."

"The Heart of Ice? Where can I find it?" the traveler asked eagerly.

“The sacred artifact is hidden in the far north, protected by a perpetually frozen labyrinth. Reaching it is no easy feat.” Aurora’s tone was grave. “Moreover, the labyrinth is filled with traps and trials. Only those with pure hearts and strong wills can pass the tests.”

The burly man clenched his fist and said firmly, "No matter how treacherous the road ahead may be, we will go without hesitation for the sake of our homeland."

Aurora nodded and handed them an old map marked with the path to the labyrinth: "Take this map with you; it will guide you. Remember, unity and faith are your greatest weapons."

As the sun set, the hero team bid farewell to Aurora and embarked on an even more perilous journey. Behind them, the old man's voice drifted softly: "The path of destiny has been laid out, heroes, may the stars guide you until final victory."

Following in the footsteps of the heroes, the town's discussions spread like wildfire once more. The words of the people were no longer simply reverence and admiration, but rather boundless hope and confidence in the future.

"Do you think they can really find that sacred artifact?" Two children sat under a big tree at the entrance of the village, gazing up at the starry sky.

“Of course, they are heroes! There’s nothing they can’t do!” Another child’s eyes shone with unwavering conviction.

In a corner of the town, the young man who once doubted heroes is now sharing his transformation with a group of new friends: "I used to think heroes were just stories, but now I know that everyone can be a part of changing the world."

Night falls, all is silent, except for a single sentence echoing in the night wind, like a harbinger of the future, or a call to a hero—

"In despair and darkness, light is never absent, because heroes have set out."

Deep in the forest, the hero team followed the directions of the ancient map, traversing dark thickets and crossing winding rivers, each step fraught with unknowns and challenges. Along the way, they rescued a caravan besieged by monsters, the caravan's people moved to tears and discussed the tragedy with great gratitude.

"This is truly unheard of and unseen! They are not only brave but also compassionate; these are the real heroes!" the caravan leader exclaimed in amazement.

Outside an abandoned castle, the hero team encountered a sudden storm. At its center, a gigantic ghost wolf appeared, its eyes flashing with an evil green light. As the team stood in tense confrontation, a young girl stepped forward, closed her eyes, and whispered, seemingly conversing with the wind. Soon, the storm subsided, and the ghost wolf vanished without a trace.

"What kind of magic was that? It was amazing!" The burly man stared wide-eyed at the young girl in disbelief.

“It’s not magic, it’s the power of the heart.” The young girl responded with a smile, the determination in her eyes illuminating the surrounding darkness.

After overcoming countless hardships, the hero team finally arrived at the entrance to the legendary frozen labyrinth. The entrance was sealed off by thick ice walls, surrounded by an endless blizzard, as if it were a forbidden zone of nature. Just then, an indescribable chill swept over them, and everyone involuntarily shivered.

"This...this is the protective power of the Heart of Ice? It's even more terrifying than I imagined." The farmer's face was pale, but his eyes remained resolute.

Just as everyone was discussing countermeasures, the ground suddenly trembled, and a giant hand made of ice emerged from the snow, attempting to stop their progress. At the critical moment, the young nobleman drew the family's heirloom sword, and with a light touch of the tip, the giant hand emitted a dazzling light, turning it into nothingness.

"It seems the power of light is guiding us," the young nobleman said breathlessly, the sword in his hand radiating a warm glow that gave the team immense courage.

Through countless puzzles and battles, the hero team gradually approaches the core of the labyrinth. Whenever faced with dire straits, someone always steps forward, using their unique skills to resolve the crisis. Along the way, their trust and teamwork deepen day by day.

Finally, they stood before an ice door carved with intricate runes. Behind the door, there seemed to be powerful magical fluctuations—the location of the Heart of Ice.

"Are you ready? Perhaps the answer we've been searching for lies behind this door." The young girl looked around at her companions, her eyes filled with anticipation for the future.

The burly man nodded vigorously and patted his chest: "Whatever lies behind the door, we'll face it together."

The door slowly opened, and a dazzling light spilled out from the crack, illuminating everyone's faces. As they stepped across the threshold, a magnificent hall appeared before them, with the Heart of Ice silently suspended in the center, radiating a soft yet powerful light.

"Found it, the Heart of Ice..." the noble youth murmured softly, tears welling up in his eyes.

At that very moment, a deep and powerful voice resounded in their hearts, seemingly from the Heart of Ice itself: "The real test has only just begun. Heroes, do you have the courage to shoulder the heavy responsibility of sealing away the evil spirits?"

"We are willing, for every life on this land." The young girl's voice was firm, and the others echoed her sentiments. Their convictions coalesced into a powerful force that surrounded the Heart of Ice.

The conversation ended there, but the story is far from over. The path to sealing the Heart of Ice is fraught with unknowns and challenges, and the heroes' journey has only just begun. Meanwhile, in a distant land, a dark force is stirring, seemingly foreseeing the impending battle, and a cold smile plays on its lips.

"The game of fate has been laid out; the battle between heroes and evil spirits is about to begin..."
