Chapter 27 Swearing an Oath to Heaven

Seeing that the school gate was open, Lin Rou parked her Porsche directly next to the Bentley in front of the teaching building. The security guard mistakenly thought they were with the VIPs the principal had mentioned and didn't pay any attention to the family.

Lin Rou parked the car and said, "President Zhou has arrived. Let's go find Lin An first."

“He’s in Class 7, I’ll take you there,” Lin Zhe quickly replied.

The Lin family members hurried up to the third floor and saw Lin An leaving at the end of the corridor. They followed him to the principal's office.

Zhang Wanru called out breathlessly, "Lin An, Lin An."

Just as Lin An was about to knock on the door, he saw the four members of the Lin family approaching him. His brows furrowed, and his annoyance was written all over his face. Why were these Lin family members so persistent?

He said impatiently, "What are you doing?"

Zhang Wanru hadn't seen Lin An for many days, and her voice was somewhat agitated: "Lin An, do you know how big of a mess you've made? You should confess and admit your mistakes now, and your parents might be able to plead for you."

Lin An was baffled: "What did I do wrong?"

Lin Haoran, who was recently trying to become a first-tier distributor for the Zhou Group, said anxiously, "Tell me what you did wrong? You even dared to deceive President Zhou, and you're still messing around with mystical talismans. Are you crazy?"

When Lin An heard the word "talisman," he remembered the health talisman he had given to Zhou Shengren. Seeing the panicked look on the Lin family's faces, he wondered if the talisman had had some bad effect. However, he had verified the skills in the "Life Skills Collection," so there shouldn't be any problems.

Lin An calmed himself down and said, "What I do has nothing to do with you guys, so please leave me alone."

"You brat, do you know that what you're doing will drag the Lin family down? Go inside right now, confess the truth to President Zhou, kneel down and admit your mistakes, and don't ruin the family business," Lin Haoran roared.

Lin An snorted coldly.

Lin Rou hated his disobedient attitude the most: "Lin An, let me tell you, you had better tell President Zhou yourself that you have already severed ties with us. Even if you don't say it today, we will. We even brought a severance agreement. Don't even think about clinging to the Lin family."

Hearing the arguing outside, Principal Chen got up and opened the door, only to find a large group of people standing there with puzzled expressions.

"Lin An, why aren't you coming in yet? And who are you?"

Lin Zhe pretended to be well-behaved and replied, "Hello Principal Chen, I am Lin Zhe from the senior class. This is my father, mother and sister. Lin An is my brother who left home."

Principal Chen was a little confused, but they were probably family members with whom Lin An didn't have a very good relationship: "Then you can come in too."

Lin Haoran saw Zhou Shengren sitting on the sofa and quickly bowed to greet him, "Hello, Mr. Zhou."

"What are you doing here?" Zhou Shengren asked, his face showing displeasure.

Seeing that President Zhou looked unwell, Lin Haoran became very nervous: "I'm here to apologize to you."

"What?"

"I heard that Lin An used some tricks to fool you. I came to persuade him to confess his mistakes to you, but the boy is stubborn and we can't do anything about it."

“But Mr. Zhou, I, Lin Haoran, swear to God that our Lin family is completely unaware of everything Lin An has done. He grew up in an orphanage in the countryside and has many bad habits and vices. There’s nothing we can do about it. Please don’t take your anger out on the Lin family.”

“Besides, we broke off relations with him last month. You can see for yourself…” Lin Haoran reached out and took the phone from Lin Zhe. The phone screen displayed a photo of a termination agreement.

Lin Haoran blurted out all the things he had prepared on the way. Zhou Shengren and Zhou Ya tried to interject several times but couldn't find a chance. The Zhou family looked at each other, wondering what Lin Haoran was trying to achieve by making this oath-taking show.

Lin An had long since given up on the Lin family. Seeing their desperate attempts to distance themselves from him for fear of being implicated, he could only laugh.

Zhou Shengren looked at the photo in front of him. It clearly stated that Lin An had severed ties with them. He had been a little unsure about their relationship before. It's hard for an honest official to judge family matters. After all, it's understandable for a high school student to run away from home when he's having a tantrum. Now he was relieved. He no longer needed to consider Lin An's feelings and could treat the Lin family with complete freedom.

Zhou Shengren's face was icy as he asked, "So, Lin An's actions have nothing to do with the Lin family?"

Lin Haoran raised his arm and held up three fingers: "I swear on behalf of everyone in the Lin family that Lin An has absolutely no connection with my Lin family, and we were completely unaware of it."

Lin Rou quickly added, "President Zhou, it's Lin An's own business that he lied to you. If you want to settle accounts, just talk to him. We will absolutely not interfere. You can punish him as you see fit."

Zhou Shengren twitched the corner of his mouth, forcing a mocking smile: "That's good."

When Lin Haoran heard President Zhou say "okay," he breathed a sigh of relief, finally able to sever ties with Lin An.

Zhou Shengren looked at Lin An, who had a blank expression, stood up, and walked towards him.

The three members of the Lin family thought that Zhou Shengren was going to deal with Lin An on the spot, so they held their breath and dared not make a sound.

Zhang Wanru's lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she chose to remain silent.

Zhou Shengren walked up to Lin An and raised one leg.

When Zhang Wanru saw President Zhou raise his foot, she covered her face with her hands in fear. She couldn't bear to see her own son being kicked.

Lin An was also confused about what was going on.

Zhou Shengren raised his leg high, patted it twice, and laughed loudly, "Lin An, look, my leg is healed, all thanks to you. Your health talisman is an unparalleled divine talisman; my leg was healed in just three days."

Lin An hadn't expected his talisman to be so powerful: "It'll be healed in just three days?"

"Yes, just three days, and I feel full of energy now, as if I'm thirty years younger."

Looking at the excited Zhou Shengren, Lin An smiled and said, "It's good that you've recovered."

Lin Haoran listened to the conversation between the two and froze on the spot. Could it be that President Zhou was looking for Lin An not to settle accounts, but to repay a debt of gratitude? If so, then he must have just done something incredibly stupid.

Zhou Shengren held Lin An's hands and asked sincerely, "You've helped me so much, how can I possibly thank you?"

"No need, no need. It was a birthday gift for you, there's no need to thank me."

Looking at the composed young man before him, Zhou Shengren thought, "He's so young, yet so capable and has such a broad perspective. He's bound to achieve great things in the future. Since the other person doesn't need to thank me for what I did today, I can't leave without doing so." He gave Secretary Zhao a look.

Secretary Zhao stepped forward and unfurled a tall banner. Eight large, gleaming gold characters protruded from it: "A promising young man, our gratitude is as heavy as a mountain." Lin An was stunned by this extravagant way of expressing gratitude, his mouth agape, unsure of what to say.

Zhou Shengren smiled with satisfaction and said, "Principal Chen, I remember that our Zhou Group donated and built a library before. This time, I've decided to donate another 100,000 books in Lin An's name. This banner will be hung in the library. Is that alright?"

Principal Chen quickly expressed his gratitude: "Of course, no problem, thank you, Mr. Zhou. On behalf of all the teachers and students of No. 12 Middle School, I thank you." Now, he no longer needs to be a virtual beggar on social media, pleading for book donations from all sectors of society.

"I should be thanking you for nurturing such an outstanding person."

Principal Chen replied, "It is an honor for our No. 12 Middle School to have a student like Lin An. He is not only of noble character and helpful, but also has excellent grades, ranking first in the grade. Next week, he will represent the school in the National Mathematics Competition."

Having lived two lives, this was the first time Lin An had heard someone praise him so enthusiastically, and he scratched his head shyly.

Zhou Shengren was overjoyed to find that Lin An was so outstanding. He pulled Zhou Ya to Lin An's side and said, "When our Xiao Ya was in school, her grades were also excellent. She studied in the gifted youth program in college and graduated at the age of eighteen. You two should talk more when you have time."

Zhou Ya, 21, was three years older than Lin An and naturally understood what her father meant. Her beautiful face flushed red, and she said shyly, "Dad, you've shown your kindness, so let Lin An go back to class. Don't let it interfere with his studies."

Zhou Shengren thought his daughter made sense: "Okay, then I'll head back first. Lin An, I wish you the best of luck in the competition."

"Thank you, Mr. Zhou. I will do my best."

Seeing that Zhou Shengren was about to leave, Lin Haoran, who was frozen in place, finally realized that he had to do something to make up for the mistake he made today and to establish a connection between Lin An and the Zhou family.

"Mr. Zhou, wait a minute!"
