Chapter 26 Defamation

"What?"

Snap!

Aunt Li hung up the phone immediately.

Yu Cheng walked into the ward with a gloomy face. The two old ladies woke up when they heard the door open, but they thought it was a nurse making rounds and didn't pay much attention.

Hearing the faint sound of the curtain being pulled, the old lady who had inquired about Yu Cheng that afternoon peeked out. Upon seeing Yu Cheng, she immediately became very energetic.

Jian Yu lay on his side on the bed, with half of his face covered by the blanket.

The afternoon takeout is still on the small table on the bed.

Except for the water by the bedside, which was much less, everything else was exactly the same as when Yu Cheng left.

Zhang Xiaoling never came over.

Aunt Li, with her quick eyelids, tidied up the takeout food on the small table and then moved the small table to the foot of the bed.

Yu Cheng lowered the curtain and quietly walked out of the ward.

The old lady put on her shoes and followed behind Aunt Li. Aunt Li was about to close the door when she saw the old lady behind her, gave an awkward smile, and let go of her hand.

The old lady didn't even look at Aunt Li; her eyes were fixed on Yu Cheng. Annoyed that Aunt Li was blocking her way, the old lady pushed her aside with one hand and quickly caught up with Yu Cheng with small, quick steps.

"Young man, there are plenty of fish in the sea. This Jian Yu isn't a good girl, she's not suitable for you at all, so don't waste your heart on her. Let me tell you, she's incredibly fickle, taking advantage of her looks. Just this afternoon after you left, another girl came along, dressed so stylishly, in a lemon-yellow dress, carrying a matching handbag, with long, wavy hair and a W-shaped rhinestone hair clip—she was gorgeous! Too bad she's here to settle a score..."

The old lady glanced back at the ward, leaned close to Yu Cheng's ear, and covered her mouth with one hand, saying, "Jian Yu stole someone else's boyfriend, and that person came looking for her. If I hadn't stopped her, they would have beaten her up."

Yu Cheng's eyes turned cold. He glanced at the old lady and gritted his teeth, "Is that so?"

The old lady nodded, "Yes!"

Aunt Li stepped forward and grabbed the old lady's hand, but the old lady slapped her hand away, her old face beaming like a chrysanthemum. "I think you're a very good young man. Let me introduce you to a girlfriend! My daughter graduated from a prestigious university, is beautiful, has a great figure, and works for a foreign company. She's a senior executive now, and she's a perfect match for you... you..."

"Shut up!" Aunt Li pushed the old lady away before Yu Cheng could get angry. "My young master is not someone you can introduce girlfriends to."

Upon hearing the words "young master," the old lady's eyes lit up even more. "Your young master hasn't even spoken yet, so what right do you have to express your opinion? My daughter has quite a few big bosses pursuing her. If it weren't for the young man's devotion, I wouldn't have been willing to introduce my daughter to him!"

"Aunt Li, contact a lawyer and get this surveillance footage from the hospital."

The old lady was taken aback. "What do you need the surveillance footage for?"

"I'll sue you for defamation!" Yu Cheng gritted his teeth.

If Yu Cheng hadn't seen Zhang Xiaoling's clothes when she went out, he probably would have been fooled by the old lady's nonsense.

"What slander? Who did I slander?" The old lady suddenly raised her voice, and an echo came from the end of the corridor, startling her.

Aunt Li sneered, "What do you think?"

The old lady knew perfectly well what was going on, but she still refused to admit it on the surface. "How do you know that what I said is slander? Maybe it's the truth."

"The girl in the lemon yellow dress this afternoon is our family's maid, sent by the eldest young master."

"ah?"

The old lady's eyes darted around, unable to believe that the woman with the ill intentions was the maid who had been sent.

"You'll be sued!" Aunt Li took out her phone, ready to make a call.

The old lady rolled her eyes back, lay down on the ground, and fainted.

Aunt Li knew the old lady was faking fainting, so she ignored her and continued making phone calls.

Coincidentally, the two nurses returned just then and saw the old lady lying on the ground. They immediately rushed over anxiously, asking, "The patient has a heart condition, is she going to have a seizure?"

After a thorough examination, they discovered that the person's heartbeat was abnormal and rushed him to the emergency room.

Aunt Li stared at her phone for a long time before finally asking Yu Cheng, "Young Master, are we still going to make the call?"

Yu Cheng said, "Never mind."

Yu Cheng didn't move, and Aunt Li didn't dare to move either.

Ring ring----

As soon as the phone rang, Aunt Li glanced at the screen and subconsciously looked at Yu Cheng. Yu Cheng said, "I'll answer it."

Qi Yuexi called to question Aunt Li about why Zhang Xiaoling was fired.

Yu Cheng suppressed his anger, "Because she was two-faced and didn't come to the hospital to take care of Jian Yu. Instead, she went on a date with her boyfriend. Our family is paying her a salary."

Upon discovering that Yu Cheng had answered the phone, Qi Yuexi was initially taken aback, but immediately changed her tone, "Oh, is that so! It's my fault for not understanding. But Jian Yu is asleep and there's nothing wrong with him at the hospital, so it's not a big deal for Xiaoling to take this opportunity to meet her boyfriend!"

"Mom, don't you think it's a big deal?"

Qi Yuexi sensed something was off about Yu Cheng's words. "Is there something wrong?"

"If all the servants in the Yu family were like Zhang Xiaoling, drawing wages without doing any work, do you think that would be a good thing?"

"It was just an exception; Xiaoling is usually very diligent in her work."

“I didn’t find out. I know she’s getting paid but not doing any work, and she’s using taking care of Jianyu as an excuse to go on dates. We don’t want someone like that in our family.”

This was the first time Qi Yuexi had been so defied by Yu Cheng, and she was somewhat taken aback. "Why are you making such a big deal out of this?"

"Is this a small matter? Mom, what is your opinion of Jian Yu?"

Yu Cheng couldn't understand why Qi Yuexi would protect a servant but not her own daughter.

"How I view Jian Yu has nothing to do with this matter. Xiao Ling did nothing wrong."

"Is it that you don't want Zhang Xiaoling to leave? Or is it Yu Yao's idea?"

Qi Yuexi choked, not understanding how Yu Cheng knew it was Yu Yao who called her.

I just received a call from Yu Yao saying that Zhang Xiaoling was fired by Aunt Li for not taking good care of Jian Yu.

Qi Yuexi had no idea when Aunt Li had become so attentive to Jian Yu. Without thinking it over, she called to question her.

I never expected it was Yu Cheng's idea.

"Is it really Yu Yao?" Yu Cheng pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling somewhat absurd.

My kind and lovely younger sister, how did she become like this? Just because she doesn't like her twin sister, she's having people target her!

Yu Yao once said that she didn't like Jian Yu because he had the same face as her.

He initially thought Yu Yao was just too surprised by the sudden appearance of her older sister to accept it for a while, and that she would be fine after some time.

Later, Yu Yao indeed never mentioned it again.

As Jian Yu's despicable behavior was exposed one by one, he, like everyone else, assumed that Yu Yao disliked him because of his character.

If he hadn't overheard Aunt Li and the head chef's conversation by chance, he wouldn't have known that Yu Yao had someone targeting Jian Yu.

I wonder if Qi Yuexi knows any of this. If it were before, Yu Cheng would be certain that Qi Yuexi wouldn't know...

Now, Yu Cheng also doesn't understand Qi Yuexi's mentality...

"Mom, are you aware of what Yu Yao is doing to Jian Yu?"
