Chapter 504 Wanwan's Famous Name
Seeing his discomfiture, Meng Jinyao chuckled softly, "I really didn't expect you to be like this before, Gu Jingxi. I thought someone as outstanding as you wouldn't procrastinate, but I never imagined you used to drag your feet even when doing your homework."
Gu Jingxi was very frustrated. So many years ago, who was it that was bringing up his old stories? He had almost forgotten them himself, and now someone was bringing them up again. His image in A Yao's eyes was going to be ruined.
He asked, puzzled, "Ah Yao, who told you this?"
Meng Jinyao chuckled and said, "My husband is so smart, he should be able to guess it. After all, there aren't many people who know about your past deeds and can pass them on to me."
Gu Jingxi pondered for a moment and guessed, "Could it be what Mother said?"
Meng Jinyao replied, "It's not Mother, husband, guess again."
Gu Jingxi pondered for a moment. This was an old story that no one but his close friends would mention. He shook his head slightly and said, "I can't guess. Yao, give me a hint."
Meng Jinyao said, "I heard it from A Ning."
Gu Jingxi was very puzzled: "When I was in school, she wasn't even born yet, so how would she know about such old things?"
Meng Jinyao glanced at him: "Husband, have you forgotten who her uncle is?"
Gu Jingxi fell silent instantly. He had forgotten about his friend Qi Mobai. But Qi Mobai was already so old, why was he still being used as a shield? Now even the younger generation knew about his old stories.
Meng Jinyao added, "Our Wanwan's personality will probably really be like yours, but it's good that she's like you. When I look at Wanwan in the future, I can imagine what you looked like when you were young."
Gu Jingxi recalled his behavior when he was young and subconsciously shook his head: "Don't be like me."
Meng Jinyao said, "I think it's good to be like you. You are very intelligent and became the top scholar in your teens."
Upon hearing this, Gu Jingxi was too embarrassed to respond. He was indeed a good student, and his teachers praised him, but he was also a real worry for his parents back then. So it was better for his son not to be like him, otherwise he would follow in his father's footsteps, which would be a real tragedy. Fortune turns around.

The next day.
Princess Jingning has arrived. She accompanied the Empress Dowager to the temple for a few days. She was unable to attend the third-day celebration yesterday and only came to visit today. However, due to family matters, she did not stay long. After seeing Meng Jinyao and Wanwan, she chatted with Meng Jinyao for a while before returning home.
After her friend went home, Meng Jinyao felt bored again. Since giving birth, she hadn't left the house, and the maids and servants in the courtyard had been taking good care of her.
She felt that she was still in good spirits and suggested to her maid that she wanted to go to the door of the room to take a look. The maid immediately dissuaded her, saying that she should not be exposed to the wind during her postpartum period. Although the spring breeze was not cold, she had not yet recovered after giving birth and was in a weak state. She was prone to catching a cold and might even develop postpartum illnesses.
Meng Jinyao had no choice but to give up and stay in the house to learn how to take care of the child from Wanwan's wet nurse and understand the child's various needs. Although there were two wet nurses taking good care of Wanwan, she still wanted to learn more.
When Gu Jingxi returned in the evening, it was already dinnertime. He glanced at the sleeping child and then instructed the maid to set the table in the inner room. He had been setting the table in the inner room for the past two days, as he was afraid that A Yao would catch a cold if he ate in the hall.
During the meal, Gu Jingxi suddenly asked, "Ayao, do you think Wanwan has a problem with me?"
Meng Jinyao asked in confusion, "Why do you say that, my husband?"
Gu Jingxi replied, "He's always sleeping when I come back."
Hearing this, Meng Jinyao couldn't help but laugh: "What nonsense are you thinking? He's still so young, he'll definitely eat and sleep, and then eat again when he wakes up. He won't be like this when he gets older. If you want to stay with him when he's awake, then do it at night. Listen to what the wet nurse said, he wakes up several times at night."
Gu Jingxi replied, "I have to spend time with his mother tonight, so I don't have time to spend with him."
The unexpected sweet talk made Meng Jinyao a little embarrassed. She then glared at him and said, "Eat more and stop talking nonsense." As she spoke, she put a slice of meat into his bowl.
Seeing this, Gu Jingxi reached out and grabbed her wrist, then put the piece of meat directly into his own mouth.
Meng Jinyao was dumbfounded. When she met the man's gentle, smiling eyes, she subconsciously glanced at the maid beside her and found that the maid had already lowered her head and was not looking at them. She glared at the man again, pulled her hand back, and continued eating.
After dinner, Gu Jingxi instructed the maid to prepare water for a bath.
After taking a bath, Gu Jingxi returned to his room and found that Meng Jinyao had already fallen asleep. He glanced at the pillow on the bed and suddenly had an idea. Recalling the way his wet nurse held Wanwan, he reached out and gently picked up the pillow.
Half asleep, Meng Jinyao sensed someone beside her. When she opened her eyes, she saw her husband bending down and hugging a pillow. She asked in surprise, "Husband, what are you doing hugging a pillow?"
Her voice suddenly rang out, startling Gu Jingxi. He looked down at her and saw her staring at him with a questioning look in her eyes. He coughed twice to ease the awkwardness and said, "It's nothing, I was just looking. Are you sleepy? Let's go to sleep first."
Meng Jinyao glanced at the way he was hugging the pillow and quickly understood. She chuckled and said, "Husband, you wouldn't be secretly practicing how to hold the baby so you can hold Wanwan, would you? I suddenly remembered that you've never held Wanwan before. Is it because you don't know how to hold him?"
Gu Jingxi nodded awkwardly.
Meng Jinyao smiled and said, "There's quite a difference between hugging a pillow and hugging Wanwan. You don't need to practice hugging a pillow anymore. I'll teach you how to hug Wanwan tomorrow."
Gu Jingxi nodded again, silently put down the pillow, got into bed, and prepared to go to sleep.
He had just lain down when he heard Meng Jinyao say, "Husband, you should give Wanwan a proper name. Mother came to see Wanwan today and asked about her name."
Gu Jingxi replied, "I've already thought of a name for Wanwan."
Meng Jinyao asked, "What's your name?"
Gu Jingxi said gently, "Wanwan belongs to the Xiu generation. I thought about it for a long time and named him Xiuheng."
Meng Jinyao: "Gu Xiuheng?"
Gu Jingxi nodded and replied, "Heng means jade, and it implies beautiful jade. A gentleman is like jade. I hope he will grow up to be a gentleman of noble character and graceful demeanor. What do you think of this name, Ayao?"
After listening, Meng Jinyao pondered for a moment, and then thought of her own husband. She also hoped that Wanwan could be like her husband in the future, a gentleman of elegant manners, and nodded repeatedly: "I think it's a good idea."
Gu Jingxi said, "Since A Yao agrees, then Gu Xiuheng will be his formal name. We will inform Mother and other family members tomorrow."
