Chapter 177
“I promised to knit you a sweater,” the little spider said softly. “Although I don’t think my promise is very trustworthy, it’s not good to keep putting things off like this.”
The spider legs behind him were shaking rapidly, so fast that they left a few afterimages.
Spiderwebs are much finer than materials like wool yarn, and to make them look like a sweater, the amount of work would be more than three times greater.
Fortunately, he has ten times the productivity of a normal person, so overall it's not too slow.
At this point, Deedris didn't intend to say anything more and sat down on the other side to watch the little spider knit a sweater.
Although it may not seem like a very grand or important task, it is actually not an easy job, even for a small spider, to control multiple legs to work together at high speed.
So he was surprisingly serious now, using steel needles in each hand to support the frame, while the sweater was quickly taking shape.
Dedeline rested her head on her hand, watching the guy who was seriously knitting a sweater.
"Although I'm a little embarrassed, I still have to say that this piece is a bit too small." Dedeline hesitated and pointed to the area roughly around the chest. "If it ends up like this, I think it will be very difficult to wear."
The little spider paused for a moment, turned its head away somewhat embarrassedly, and responded softly.
"But speaking of which, everything else fits quite well." Dedeline leaned closer curiously, tugging at the waist and sleeves. "Apart from the bust, it really seems to fit quite well. Where did you get my measurements?"
After scratching his face, Chris hesitated for a moment before saying:
“I brought you back after you fainted… I can still remember the gist of it.” Chris muttered softly, “I’m sorry, I should have told you beforehand.”
"Then you can measure my bust size while you're at it," Dedelie said nonchalantly. "If it doesn't fit properly here, it will really affect my movement."
The little spider didn't answer; it just sat there, looking very embarrassed, and didn't dare to look Deedris in the eye.
When he thought it was about time, he turned his head and saw Deedri take a long strip of cloth from somewhere, circle it around the area, and then mark a spot.
"Here," she handed the strip of cloth to the little spider, "just modify it according to this."
"Hmm." The little spider took the strip of cloth, hesitated for a moment, and didn't know where to begin complaining.
Then I can only say nothing, because I don't know what to say.
Just follow this procedure.
Christine tore open the sweater she had finished knitting and started knitting the position again.
“Speaking of which, it’s pure white. Aren’t you planning to add any patterns to it?” Deedri said, looking at the white fabric and resting her head on her hand. “It is indeed rare to see such white fabric. This color itself is quite rare.”
"I don't know what kind of decorations you like," the little spider hesitated for a moment and said, "How about I weave your name on it?"
“Okay, but aren’t you going to knit yours on too?” Deedri pointed to a spot roughly at her chest: “Right here, I can see it when I look down. Let’s knit our names on.”
"If you don't mind," the little spider said hesitantly, "who should be on top and who should be on the bottom?"
As soon as he said it, he suddenly felt something was wrong, because he saw that Deedris's expression became a little subtle after hearing the question, which made him feel a little uneasy.
"Do you want to be on top of me or on the bottom?" Deedri rested her head on her hand, looking at the little spider with a playful smile.
"Don't tease me," Chris muttered softly, a little embarrassed.
"Haha, sorry, sorry, but your reaction was really funny." Deedley leaned on Spider-Man's shoulder and yawned.
Chris looked at the girl leaning on his shoulder, suddenly remembered something, hesitated for a moment, and then asked softly:
"Um, Dedeline, may I ask you a question?"
"Hmm?" Deedri turned her head and suddenly smelled a faint fragrance.
It was a bouquet of flowers, flowers of all colors.
"Ark said to prepare flowers before confessing, and I found some nearby, but I didn't have the Min Gui variety, sorry," Little Spider muttered. He spoke a little softly, but it was just loud enough to be heard.
“What precious flower could be rarer than one that grows in the Spirit Forest?” Dedelie shook her head with a smile and accepted the bouquet. “What do you mean by this? You’d better explain yourself, otherwise giving flowers to a girl so easily will be misunderstood.”
"I like you. Can we date?" Chrison looked at her seriously and said, "Didn't you ask me this question before? I've given you my answer now."
It was so sudden that Dedeline couldn't quite understand why this usually timid guy had suddenly become so enthusiastic.
However, she has no idea that she has been in a coma for half a month, during which time so many things have happened.
However, not many people are worried about her. The fact that monsters fall into a deep sleep after using up their magic is a protective mechanism. She is surrounded by monsters that no one can mess with, so there is no need to worry about her.
A lot has really happened; half a month is long enough for them, or rather, too long.
One of them was that it took Spider-Man time to make up his mind. He had rehearsed this line countless times before today. There should have been a follow-up, because Ark said that there should have been some more cheesy words.
But just saying those words had exhausted all his strength, and he felt himself going limp.
Even his previous battle with the Demon King hadn't made his heart race like this. Although he appeared calm, he was actually so panicked that he had no idea what to do next.
"Okay, sure," Deedri said, looking at the flowers. "From now on, I'm your girlfriend."
Her response was completely different from the rehearsal, which immediately created an awkward atmosphere, leaving everyone unsure how to continue the conversation.
The language Spider-Man had prepared was completely useless. This was Deedris; someone who had danced the line between life and death countless times wouldn't have the shyness of a normal girl. Perhaps she once did, but it had been worn away by the long years of her life.
"Yes, really... thank you..." The little spider scratched its face, responding a little embarrassedly.
"Thank you?" Deedrey repeated the last sentence the little spider had said, and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Is this the occasion to say thank you? And if I didn't agree, would he apologize?
It's no wonder I have a low threshold for laughter; this is clearly a rare and powerful monster, yet it acts so much like a child. It's experiencing the first stirrings of love, with the shyness a child should have.
The little spider realized it had said something strange, but once the words were out, it didn't know what to say to make amends.
As a last resort, he continued knitting.
Well, he'll just keep knitting. He's said what he needed to say, and he feels he can sleep well tonight.
“Speaking of which, now that we’ve officially confirmed our relationship, shouldn’t we change how we address each other?” Dedeline hesitated for a moment before saying, “I’m used to calling you Little Spider, do I really need to change it?”
"No need, no need," the little spider said, shaking its head. "I think this name is fine."
"Then you can continue to call me Little Sheep. You called me by my name a few times before, but you still call me by my name. Is it because you're not used to it?" Deedri said, then slowly lay back.
The sofa behind him was surprisingly soft, not at all like something a monster would use. These elves were certainly enjoying themselves; despite the chaos the whole world was in, these guys were hiding in the forest, continuing their laziness.
"Alright... little lamb?"
“Yes!” Deedri responded loudly, then laughed heartily.
It's been so long since I've had such a happy experience. Before I met Spider-Man, it seems like the only thing that made me happy was drinking.
This guy is much more interesting than alcohol. Dedeline thought to herself, feeling quite pleased.
Spider-Man couldn't help but smile a little as he watched Deedris laughing so happily.
It seemed as if they were sharing in her joy.
Or rather, he also deserves joy.
“Speaking of which, where’s Lilith?” Deedrey suddenly remembered this question and looked at the little spider. “I thought you had been snatched away by that guy. It seems you two are quite a coincidence.”
"She and I are just friends," the little spider quickly explained, then muttered something as he watched Deedri rubbing her spider legs.
“Back when I was just your friend, I found it a bit strange that you had so many girls around you. You’re quite the ladies’ man.” She said, then tapped Spider’s nose with her finger. “You can’t be like that now. Please remember that you’re my boyfriend. If I often see you having fun with other girls, I’ll get jealous, and I won’t be able to appease you.”
“Okay, okay,” Christon nodded happily.
"Has that girl returned to the forest yet?" Deedley asked, but then she saw the little spider take a white gem off its neck.
“This is her new home,” Spider-Man said. “It was a gift from Harnik. I don’t know why he would give me something so expensive, but I accepted it because I really need it.”
"Wow, the Space Stone! I've never seen one this big before." Deedri looked at it curiously, tossing it in her hand and letting it fall back into her hand several times. "Does this mean I can go see her anytime I want for a secret rendezvous?"
"No, no, no, don't misunderstand. She's already cocooned up, and for a while I couldn't even contact her."
"Does that mean you can contact her anytime after she emerges from her cocoon?"
"..." The little spider pinched its temples, completely at a loss for words.
"Haha, just kidding." Dedeline couldn't help but laugh so hard she almost fell over, seeing the little spider's expression as it struggled to hold the clothes.
Watching such a near-perfect guy reveal so many flaws in this matter really means I have to keep a close eye on him. He seems harmless and could easily become a target. Now that I've caught this tempting lamb, I need to make sure he's not snatched away by other predators.
With that thought in mind, Deedrey leaned against the little spider even more naturally and slowly closed her eyes.
That's great, it puts my mind at ease.
With him around, I feel a sense of security that's almost unsettling. I never imagined I'd become so dependent on someone; just having him around makes me feel truly at peace.
"When do we leave?" Dedeline asked softly. "Lori seems like a really good child; we should definitely protect her."
“Hmm.” Krissom hesitated for a moment before saying, “Karl chose to leave.”
After a long silence, the girl leaning on his shoulder whispered, "Is that so?"
Although I really wanted to curse that guy out, I inexplicably didn't know what to say.
He was, after all, an outsider; everyone here was either a demon or a demon being. It was only right that everyone protect the demon race.
Even if he's a saint, that guy is already being watched to see if he'll continue doing the wrong thing.
He hasn't taken a firm stance and has been wavering. This is not good.
After one last moment of reflection, Carl chose to leave the team, abandoning Lori, whom he had always protected.
It should be said that he had long since lost the right to protect her; he was unable to clearly define his position, and everything he did here went against his beliefs.
This was a dead end; for him, there were no right options, and everything he did was wrong. Faced with this choice, he chose to leave, leaving the child who depended on him alone amidst the world's fears.
Carl had been pondering Lori's identity in his mind. This child was still young, but her identity was already so complex that it was hard to understand her.
He couldn't understand it; he only knew he should leave. No matter how he thought about it, he should choose to leave.
“It’s fine.” Deedley thought for a moment and said, “I don’t dislike that guy, but it always feels weird when he’s around.”
“He just chose to do the right thing, and we have no right to criticize him.” Spider-Man had just finished speaking when he turned around and suddenly found Deedri looking at him with a mischievous smile.
"After he left, will you be all alone in your room?" Dedeline looked at him with ill intent, and poked his chest with her hand.
"Probably." The little spider realized something, and its recently calmed-down mood became chaotic again.
"Have you ever done it?" Deedley suddenly asked, whispering in Spider-Man's ear before he could even process what she meant. "Would you rather be the prey or the hunter?"
