Chapter 121 Long Time No See (4)

Chapter 121

Lady looked at the guy sitting next to her reading a book, opened her mouth as if to say something, but swallowed it back and sat there aimlessly in a daze.

Because Ark is currently checking into the hotel ahead, he has to sit with the guy next to him.

The reason is that the saints coming to the inn would certainly not be able to pay, but this was a sizable group, and they would be staying there for at least half a month. So this was very troublesome for the innkeeper.

So we'll wait here until Ark finishes ordering before going in.

This guy doesn't seem like a saint at all.

Lady observed the guy carefully. He had golden hair, blue eyes, was slightly shorter than her, and not as well-built. Although he was cute, he had very dark circles under his eyes.

I really don't know how she can resist fainting with those dark circles under her eyes. This guy seems to be a habitual night owl, but he also looks inexplicably energetic.

As for the book he was reading, strictly speaking, it wasn't a book, but rather someone's diary. It was Ark's diary; this guy said he wanted to see what he had written, so Ark gave him this.

It was only then that Lady realized that this guy's diary was actually quite eloquent, not just a chronological account, but a serious record of what happened and what he was thinking.

She just kept watching until she looked up at Lady just now.

"Is your name Lady?" Benny asked casually. "I saw something about you in his journal."

"So what are you trying to say?" Lady frowned, not because her tone was impolite, but because this guy's tone was impolite to begin with.

“You’re a demon, so please behave like that little girl over there.” Benny pointed to Lori, who was sitting by the roadside in a daze. “Otherwise, I’ll have a hard time.”

"At worst, I'll just be wiped out by your church. What other consequences could there be?" Lady shook her head. "I didn't have much reason to live anyway."

“At least I would hope you survive. Ark doesn’t want anyone he knows to die, no matter who it is.” As she said this, she stood up and looked at Ark, who came out of the door.

Lady was annoyed by the guy's tone, so she grabbed a water bottle from the side to calm herself down.

“The rooms are all booked, but there’s barely enough room,” Yak said, clutching the keys in his hand. “Karl and I will share a room, Lori, Lady, and Benny will share a room. The two cats will share a room.”

“I refuse,” Benny said without hesitation. “We’ll share a room, but Carl will share with the two cats.”

Lady choked on her water and coughed violently. Benny patted her back to help her catch her breath.

"That's not a good idea." Ark turned his head, his facial expression unchanged, but you could still tell he was a little embarrassed.

"What's wrong with that? We've always shared a room before, haven't we?" Benny seemed quite indifferent. Carl and the two cats weren't around right now. He wouldn't be back until tonight, barring any unforeseen circumstances. And the two cats wouldn't be released until everything had been checked.

When Denos came in, he said he needed to go home first and that he could go back by himself, without asking Ark to come with him. So this is the time when the team has the fewest members.

It was a rather awkward situation for Ark, as he was the only male among them. Everyone else there was a girl.

Especially since one of them was his fiancée, he was terrified of being beaten to death. So he was always on his guard.

"It'll be fine when Karl comes back tonight," Yak comforted himself, but it wasn't night yet.

Oh, it seems I've forgotten someone.

Ghost Lord was arrested because he didn't have identification, so there's no need to worry about him now.

“If you insist.” Yak shrugged, then handed Lady’s key to her and the second to Lori.

Three large rooms were booked in total, but the best room was reserved by the city lord, leaving four rooms available. Ark felt he couldn't take all the rooms, so he reserved one.

Relatively speaking, I was very satisfied with the room here. Firstly, the price was very reasonable, and secondly, the facilities and environment were quite good.

However, no one else cared about these things. Lady could only watch helplessly as the two guys walked inside, probably to go back to their rooms.

It's hard to see any intimacy between these two. They just exchanged a handshake when they arrived, and then there was no further interaction. Even now, they haven't even walked together; Benny went to check on things in the room first, while he had to deal with some troublesome matters downstairs.

Apart from what was just said, he didn't say a single extra word.

This doesn't seem like the behavior of a normal couple, Lady thought, and got up to take Lori back to her room.

"Let's go." She patted Lori on the shoulder, then turned her head, blinked, and asked hesitantly:

"Is she here to kill me?"

It was a very simple question, but it stunned Lady.

I didn't originally intend to say that word, but I didn't.

A question I had never thought about before suddenly popped into my head at this moment, and then it just wouldn't go away.

Why is she looking for Ark now, at this time?

It could be simply explained as him missing Ark and wanting to see him or something.

But it doesn't look like it, inexplicably it doesn't look like it.

Lady felt it might not be that simple, because the timing coincided with the moment Lori was declared under protection. And from what had just happened, it was clear that Lori knew nothing about her situation.

So it's very likely that it's because of Lori.

So what business would a saint have with a demon?

There is no doubt that the priests are tasked with eliminating demons.

Then what reason do I have to say that she won't hurt her? That in itself could be a lie.

"If she tries to hurt you, I will protect you." After thinking it over, only this kind of statement could be believed. Lady said this, patting the child's head.

He became a demon because a demonic mark was imprinted on his soul, while Lori may have become a demon one day, inexplicably.

She lost all her previous memories, and then some unknown images entered her memory. She was terrified, afraid of others and afraid of herself. Even cowering in a corner couldn't give her a sense of security, because she couldn't hide from herself.

Lori nodded, then got up and followed Lady.

Yak turned his head and glanced at them, then slowly sighed.

It took him a few minutes to pack his things before returning to his room, where, as expected, Benny was waiting for him.

Benny untied her hair tie, and her long, metallic hair fell loose.

"Alright, now can you tell me what this busy, high-and-mighty person like you wants to see me for?" Yak sighed helplessly, "I miss you, but I really don't want to see you."

"Because seeing me means there's trouble, right?" Benny didn't seem angry at all about the way this guy talked. Instead, she slowly stood up, twirled around in the candlelight, and her dress swayed.

Then, with almost imperceptible speed, he approached Ark, grabbed him by the neck, and slammed him against the wall.

With a brutal strike, half of Ark's body was embedded in the wall, but his expression remained unchanged as he stared at Benny's smiling face without uttering a word.

It seems they have no intention of putting up any resistance.

"You trouble-averse guy, you really know how to cause trouble!" Benny said through gritted teeth. "Why did a demon appear in your team? And how did another demon appear in just a few days? Do you know how much trouble it is for me to do public relations?"

"It must be very troublesome."

“It’s quite troublesome.” Benny said, emphasizing each word. “Moreover, my presence here is already a concession. The Church needs to know the abilities of the two demons. I’ve already sent Lady’s information back using the communication crystal, and there are no problems. But I need an explanation of Lori’s abilities.”

What are you going to do?

“You should be glad I’m the one doing this.” Benny put on a fierce expression. “If someone else were doing this, they’d probably beat her half to death and force her to use her abilities, right?”

What will you do then?

“If she cooperates, I’m not willing to use force against the child. Instead, I will fulfill my duty.” Benny paused and said, “If it’s an ability that’s too uncontrollable, I will act as the executor and kill the child.”

“You’ve always been like this.” Ark sighed. “If her abilities hadn’t been revealed, the second scenario wouldn’t have happened, would it?”

"What do you mean?"

"Can you just pretend you didn't see that child's ability?" Ark said softly. "Believe me, you don't want to know what it is."

Benny stood there stunned, her expression slowly calming down as she let go and allowed Ark to fall to the ground.

She turned around and sat on the edge of the bed with a strange expression.

"You know that's a troublesome thing."

“I know.” Ark said, getting up from the ground and sitting down next to her. Benny leaned on his shoulder. “You’ll help me, right?”

“What a troublemaker. I’ll think about it.” Benny said, leaning on Ark’s shoulder. “Give me some time to think.”

"Thank you," Yak said, then hesitated for a moment, realizing that it wouldn't be good to just cause her more trouble, and turned to say something.

But they found that the guy had already fallen asleep; the girl had just leaned on his shoulder when she fell asleep.

"Benny?" Yak called softly, then shook her.

But she seemed to be fast asleep, and no matter what I did, she wouldn't wake up.

Yak had no choice but to help her take off her shoes, then pick her up and lay her face down on the bed, covering her with a blanket. He sat beside her, holding her hand.

She was indeed very tired; you could tell from her dark circles that she was exhausted.

I was really asking too much of her, Ark thought, looking at her sleeping face. Once she fell asleep, she was completely defenseless, just like before, the kind of person who was hard to wake up once she was asleep.

At that time, a monster attacked in the middle of the night, and even with torches falling on him, he didn't wake up.

He's a very troublesome guy in this respect.

He turned his head and gestured for silence towards the window, as if worried that the guy was disturbing her sleep.

It was Little White, clad in light armor from head to toe, wearing a white protective mask, with long white hair and a tail that were just as white. It stood out conspicuously in the darkness.

As the saying goes, nothing is more honest than walking in white at night. Ark also wanted to laugh, wondering what kind of thought process this guy had to come up with the idea of dressing like this.

Yak opened the window, and she, understanding, jumped in from the outside.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Bai, a vassal of Krilis Osiris." She leaned against the wall and looked at Ark, saying, "Good evening."

"Is that long, tongue-twisting name her full name?"

"You don't even know this?" Xiaobai felt her anger about to burst, as she had never been good to Ark to begin with.

“This girl’s name is Benedict.” Ark said, looking at the sleeping girl. “To me, she’s just a name. Yashiro is a saint, and I’m not worthy of such a position.”

"Very self-aware." Xiaobai paused, then stared at Benny for a long time.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen her sleeping,” she said softly.

"Does she never sleep?" Yak sighed helplessly. "She's such a stubborn person, stubborn to the death."

“She’s definitely a very stubborn person.” Xiaobai looked at Ark: “You know what sleeping means to her, right?”

"Caught completely off guard, if someone were to ambush her now, a saint could be killed very easily." Ark said to Little White, "Perhaps she would be the easiest of all the saints to deal with, because if you ambushed her while she is asleep, you could slit her throat and bleed her to death."

With a slight movement of his wrist, he caught the dagger that was being shot at Benny.

The thing was just a flash of white light, so fast it was almost imperceptible.

“You’d better stay this vigilant,” Xiaobai said softly. “She trusts you, trusts you completely. She’s even willing to let you hold the power of life and death over her.”

“Yes, you can trust me.” Ark was thrown the dagger back at him: “I promise I’ll die before her.”

Xiao Bai looked at him, her expression showing no sign of softening.

“I hate people who have no expression,” she said softly. “I hate even more what she said about how you used to be, always smiling. To be honest, I hate you.”

“I don’t dislike girls who are very direct in their expression,” Acton paused and said, “It makes me realize that I should do things accurately and avoid making mistakes.”

After looking at him for a few seconds, Xiaobai jumped out of the window and disappeared into the night.

As expected, he still couldn't trust this guy. Xiaobai climbed over the wall, shifted his position slightly so that he could see into the room, and then slowly drew his bow to its full extent.

Ark looked at the arrow aimed at him, then slowly lowered his head without making any statement.
