Chapter 12 Poison Town - 5 Tang Bu with his head down...
Tang Bufan, who had been looking down, suddenly had a glimmer of light in his eyes. He looked up at the operating room door and saw the 17-year-old orc boy emerge from the darkness, carrying a long curved sword. His golden hair shone brightly, and his eyes were like stars, making him look like a peerless hero.
He is indeed Tang Bufan's hero.
Tang Bufan blinked, and tears welled up in his left eye, which he could still open.
As soon as Lu entered the house, he saw the two people hanging in the air by iron chains. The man who had been hacked into a human pig and the horrific state of Tang Bufan made his pupils shrink, and then his face quickly turned gloomy.
He looked at the old poisoner with a cold gaze.
"Don't come any closer! I have a gun! I have a gun! Hahahaha..."
The orc boy with the knife flashed, and the old poisoner's laughter stopped abruptly.
The head fell off, and blood gushed onto the ceiling like a fountain. The old poisoner's blood-red eyes were wide open, his expression frozen in that moment of astonishment.
The High Orcs are the most powerful humanoid weapons ever created by humankind, but they are clearly unaware of this.
After standing for a while with the gun in his hand, the old poisoner also collapsed. Lu Yi kicked it into the corner of the operating room with a look of disgust, then turned to look at Tang Bufan, who was hanging up next to him.
"I'm sorry I'm late." Lu Yi saw Tang Bufan's thigh. His trouser leg had been cut open by the old poisoner, and the bloody hole made by the scissors was exposed there. Crimson blood was flowing down his thin, bamboo-like leg, forming a small pool of blood on the ground.
We need to stop Tang Bufan's bleeding as soon as possible! Lu Yi quickly came to Tang Bufan's side. He looked up at the thick chains binding Tang Bufan's hands, where a heavy lock was hanging. The key should be with the old poison master.
However, Lu Yi had already kicked the old poisoner's body into a corner of the operating room. In order to save time, Lu Yi went around to Tang Bufan's back.
"Teacher, close your eyes." Lu Yi whispered behind Tang Bufan, his strong chest pressed against Tang Bufan's back, and their current height allowed his breath to spray directly onto Tang Bufan's neck.
Tang Bufan was puzzled, but his trust in Lu Yi made him close his eyes. As the world went dark, his other senses became more acute. Tang Bufan felt the body behind him grow larger, and Lu Yi's body temperature rose by three or four degrees.
He transformed into a beast. Tang Bufan realized this, and then felt a pair of extremely powerful hands tear his chains off.
A sudden feeling of weightlessness startled Tang Bufan, who immediately opened his eyes. A pair of hands caught him steadily, and Tang Bufan caught a glimpse of Lu Yi's rapidly shrinking body out of the corner of his eye.
When Tang Bufan looked up, Lu Yi had already regained his handsome youthful appearance.
Lu Yi didn't pay much attention to the way Tang Bufan looked at him. His attention was on Tang Bufan's bleeding leg. He gently placed the man on the ground while holding him horizontally, and then went to rummage for the surgical trolley next to him.
He couldn't find the staples, only the hook-shaped suture needles and thread. He quickly flipped through the pile of medicine, finding only disinfectant but no anesthetic.
Lu Yi had no choice but to squat down next to Tang Bufan.
"Teacher, we don't have any anesthetic." Lu Yi greeted Tang Bufan and unscrewed the bottle of disinfectant.
"Come on." Tang Bufan sat there, his already pale face now looking like a dead man, exuding a dark aura. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly with tension, and he placed his hands behind his back to signal Lu Yidan to sew.
Lu Yi didn't hesitate. He immediately grabbed Tang Bufan's skinny, bony leg and quickly inserted the suture needle into Tang Bufan's flesh.
"Ugh!" Tang Bufan's veins bulged in pain. He raised his head and his body trembled uncontrollably. Lu Yi firmly held his leg to prevent him from moving, while his hand held a thin needle that quickly pierced through Tang Bufan's flesh.
In just one minute, Lu Yi picked up the surgical scissors and cut off the excess sutures.
"It's sewn up." Lu Yi breathed a sigh of relief and threw the bloody needle aside.
Tang Bufan was covered in sweat, his body completely exhausted, and he slumped to the side and lay on the ground.
Lu Yi, who was bandaging him, glanced at him and saw that Tang Bufan's lips were slightly open as he was panting, showing no signs of stopping. So he lowered his head and continued his work.
Tang Bufan had another wound on his calf, a cut from a bayonet, but it was shallow and didn't require stitches. Lu Yi simply disinfected it and then wrapped it with a bandage.
"Thank you..." Tang Bufan lay there with his eyes half-closed. Perhaps the wound was too painful, because his eyes were filled with tears again.
After finishing everything, Lu Yi finally took a good look at his face.
The black cloth wrapped around Tang Bufan's face was completely removed, and the light screen glasses were also taken away by the poisoner. His eye sockets and cheeks were sunken, his lips were black and dry, and his face exuded a heavy death aura, like a person who had become terminally ill from drug addiction.
Tang Bufan is not yet a poison person, but he is already six or seven times closer to one. The only highlight of his body is his very fine, smooth skin, without a single pore.
No, his hair was actually quite nice. Although it was messy and scattered around, it was fine and shiny, unlike the other poisoners who had lost all their hair.
Tang Bufan noticed Lu Yi scrutinizing his face, which made him feel a little sad; he looked very ugly now.
Realizing that his gaze was making Tang Bufan uncomfortable, Lu Yi turned his head to look at the still-hanging human pig.
"...Unforgivable."
Tang Bufan heard him say this in a low voice and felt pity in his eyes.
Lu Yi got up and walked to the corner of the operating room. He took the key from the old poisoner and walked up to the human pig without any disgust, carefully putting him down.
The man was still alive, his chest rising and falling slightly. Tang Bufan had kept his eyes closed while talking to the old poisoner, but after Lu Yi untied the chains binding him, he suddenly opened his eyes as if waking from a nightmare.
He saw Lu Yi, his bald body, like a worm, writhing painfully in Lu Yi's arms. Because he still had a feeding tube in his mouth, he couldn't speak and could only stare blankly at Lu Yi with wide eyes.
Then large tears slid down her cheeks.
"It's alright, it's alright." Lu Yi held the man who had lost his limbs like he was holding an infant, gently comforting him without any disgust at the fact that the man still had a fecal bag and a catheter attached to his body.
His words of comfort only made the man weep even more, his mouth still full of the feeding tube, emitting choked sobs as his broken body trembled in Lu Yi's arms.
Looking at his barely recognizable state, Lu Yi hesitated for a moment, then asked in a low, hesitant voice, "Should I remove the tube from your mouth?"
The man nodded, his body heaving as he cried.
"But... you might die."
The man seemed dazed. After a long pause, tears welled up in his eyes again, and then he nodded slowly but firmly once more.
“…I respect your decision.” Lu Yi sighed softly, looking at the man with sorrow in her eyes. Then she tightened her arms around him slightly, and with her other hand, she slowly pulled the tube out of the man’s mouth.
Tang Bufan saw the man's mutilated body writhing in agony in Lu Yi's arms, and as the feeding tube was pulled out, a large pool of blood gushed from his mouth.
"It's alright, it'll be alright soon." Lu Yi held him tightly, gently comforting him. When he finally pulled out the tube that had gone deep into his stomach, the man coughed up a mouthful of blood, and his eyes quickly dimmed.
But a very subtle smile appeared at the corners of his mouth.
He died, looking at the handsome and beautiful Lu Yi.
Lu Yi's eyes were a little red, and she reached out to close the man's eyes.
"May you find happiness in heaven," Lu Yi whispered to the man before gently placing him on the ground, as if he had fallen into a peaceful sleep.
Tang Bufan lay on the side watching the whole time, feeling a strange sensation in his heart, a sensation that made it impossible for him to take his eyes off Lu Yi.
He remembered what Lu Yi had said to him in the train carriage that night:
If you think I'm weird, just think of me as an oddball who loves helping others.
Tang Bufan's eyes trembled, his throat inexplicably felt sore, and he suddenly felt insignificant and despicable in front of Lu Yi.
Lu Yi returned to Tang Bufan's side, and seeing Tang Bufan staring intently at him, he couldn't help but feel a little awkward and touched the back of his neck.
"Does your foot still hurt a lot?" Lu Yi asked him.
It still hurt a lot, but Tang Bufan didn't answer his question. Instead, he asked him in a hoarse voice, "In your eyes... am I the same as him?"
Lu Yi glanced back at the dead man, paused for a moment, and then looked at Tang Bufan again: "Similar, but different."
He wasn't sure if this was a good answer. Several other people had asked him similar questions before, and Lu Yi had given the same answer every time, which made them all angry.
They all wanted to marry him.
Lu Yi looked at Tang Bufan with some concern.
Tang Bufan lay there, a faint smile on his pale face. His eyes were dark and bright, filled only with admiration and gentleness.
“Lu Yi, it seems that through you I understand why some people would believe in someone.” Tang Bufan looked at him: “You are like an angel, unbelievably good.”
Lu Yi was slightly taken aback, not expecting Tang Bufan to praise him like that, and blushed as he lowered his head.
“…I’m not that good.” He was embarrassed. “I only helped you with simple things.”
“It’s not simple at all.” Tang Bufan looked at the dead man not far away and said with mixed feelings, “Like this man, I sympathize with him and pity him, but to ask me to hug him without any reservations like you do... I don’t dare.”
After saying this, Tang Bufan turned his head away, feeling distressed.
"I can't even look at him for a little longer."
Lu Yi could understand that many people were indeed afraid to face the amputations of disabled people, and looking at Tang Bufan, who was full of guilt, Lu Yi suddenly found him somewhat adorable.
“Teachers are like angels too.” Lu Yi praised him in return: “You are the strongest person I have ever met.”
Tang Bufan smiled, assuming he was just trying to comfort himself again, and didn't continue chatting with him, struggling to get up from the ground.
"We should go back, it's getting dark." Tang Bufan's right leg was in excruciating pain, but he still frowned and endured it.
Although Lu Yi is very strong and he hasn't obtained the antidote, there are too many poisoners in this town, and staying here overnight is too risky.
Lu Yi admired Tang Bufan for being able to stand up despite his weak condition. He looked at his watch; it was already 5:49 PM, and the sun was about to set.
Looking at Tang Bufan, who was covered in injuries and had lost his light-screen glasses, Lu Yi thought for a moment and then asked him:
"Teacher, do you believe me?"
"What's wrong?" Tang Bufan was confused and just kept stuffing the medicine from the surgical cart into his pocket, taking the disinfectant and antibiotics back with him first.
"The morgue is on the first basement floor of the hospital; we have the key to it."
Tang Bufan paused, turned to look at him, and saw Lu Yi picking up a bunch of keys, which he had found on the old poisoner.
"The key to the safe is here too, but we don't know the password yet." Lu Yi smiled at Tang Bufan: "So I'd like to ask you to take a nap in the morgue first, teacher."
