Chapter 4 Your Name

Fang Chengyu did not hide the matter of the Fang family's property division from Miss Jun. Looking at the letter sent by Fang Chengyu, Miss Jun remained silent.

There was a wooden stick poking her from behind.

"What are you doing?" Miss Jun pushed him away without even turning her head. "If you have something to say, just say it. Stop making a fuss all day long."

"I don't have any." Zhu Zan took a step forward and sat beside her, lowering his head to pull the grass on the ground. "You are the one who made the move."

Miss Jun ignored him and looked at the road ahead.

"If you have something to say, just say it. What's the point of keeping it to yourself?" Zhu Zan said.

"There's nothing much to say." Miss Jun said, "The Fang family is pitiful indeed."

"What's so pitiful? Who knows what they knew at the beginning?" Zhu Zan said, throwing the grass in his hand away.

Miss Jun had always avoided delving into this, and remained silent for a moment after hearing this.

"No matter what, the Fang siblings are innocent," she said. "The Fang family came together because of money, and now they are separated because of money. Although it is a loss for Deshengchang, it is not impossible to find another way to make a living."

After saying that, he clapped his hands and stood up.

"Let's go."

She turned around and walked a few steps, only hearing footsteps but no voice, and couldn't help but look back.

Zhu Zan was following with a smile, but she suddenly stopped and looked at him. He seemed startled, and quickly stopped smiling, blinked, and still said nothing.

Miss Jun looked at him.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

Zhu Zan shook his head in confusion.

"Why aren't you talking so much anymore?" Miss Jun asked, remembering that it seemed like a long time since Zhu Zan had been talking nonstop.

Zhu Zan stared.

"You're the talkative one," he said. "I'm not a talkative person."

At this point his voice became quieter.

"I've said that before."

That was on the way back to the capital from the north. He caught up with her and was so angry with her that he lost his temper and was too lazy to ask her any more questions.

I wonder if she still remembers it?

Then she thought of all the stupid things she had done at that time, and she felt uncomfortable all over. She wished that it had never happened and she must not remember it.

Miss Jun didn't know that so many messy thoughts were popping up in his mind while he was speaking. She just asked casually, turned around and walked away without saying anything.

Zhu Zan breathed a sigh of relief, but was also a little disappointed. However, there was nothing to be disappointed about. It wasn't a pleasant thing anyway, so it was better to forget about it. He smiled again and followed.

Miss Jun reined in her horse, turned around and stared at him again.

"What are you so happy about?" she asked.

Zhu Zan was startled again and frowned.

"No," he said.

There was no reason to be happy. The Fang family's secret, which they had guarded against with all their might, turned out to be such an unbearable royal scandal. Why should he be happy? Was he taking pleasure in someone else's misfortune?

"Then what are you laughing at all day long?" Miss Jun asked puzzledly.

Zhu Zan reached out and touched his face.

"Do I?" he asked.

Miss Jun glanced at him without saying a word and turned to urge her horse. As soon as she turned her head, she turned back suddenly and saw Zhu Zan's raised mouth.

"Hey." She pointed, "Look, look."

Zhu Zan stroked the corners of his raised mouth and suddenly found it very funny. He just laughed out loud.

Miss Jun glanced at him and urged her horse forward without saying anything else.

Zhu Zan looked at her back. In the colorful wilderness of late autumn, the woman in dull and dusty clothes looked lonely and heroic, just as he had always remembered.

Princess Jiuling is actually over 20 years old, but her current body is only 16 or 17 years old, not much different from when she was 13 years old, so it looks like she has gone back in time.

The person who had disappeared and was getting farther and farther away in my memory now appears vividly.

"Hey." Zhu Zan put his hands to his mouth and couldn't help shouting.

The galloping figure did not disappear into the dust, nor did it remain indifferent. Instead, it stopped and the person on the horse turned around. The autumn wind blew her clothes and hair.

"What?" she asked.

Zhu Zan smiled.

"Nothing," he said.

The man on the horse glanced at him, turned around and continued to urge his horse.

"Hey." Zhu Zan shouted again.

This time the horse was reined in, but the man did not turn back.

"I have a name." She just said it in a slightly impatient voice.

She has a name.

Yes, that name.

Zhu Zan clenched his hands tightly around his mouth, as if gathering infinite strength.

"Nine years old." he shouted.

He thought it was a shout, but in fact the sound was just like a mosquito.

The people in my sight are getting farther and farther away.

"Nine years old." He shouted again.

Gao Liang's voice was sent out, and he saw the woman in his sight turned her head slightly. She didn't answer, but just raised her hand and waved.

Alive and moving, Zhu Zan suddenly felt a stinging pain in his eyes that made him unable to see any more, and he looked up at the sky.

"Jiuling." He shouted again, his voice seeming to reach the sky.

It was so high-pitched that it almost broke the voice and sounded a bit harsh.

Before he finished his sentence, he shouted again.

The loud, hoarse, and piercing voice seemed to break through heaven and earth, spreading out across the wilderness one after another.

There was a sharp clatter of horses' hooves and the crack of whips.

"Zhu Zan, what are you crazy about?" Miss Jun shouted angrily.

Zhu Zan then put down his hand and looked at Miss Jun who was riding back on horseback.

"Nothing." He smiled, "Just calling your name."

"Is that how you yell?" Miss Jun said, "I'm not deaf, will you keep yelling?"

Zhu Zan looked at her and smiled.

"I just want to shout your name." He said, spreading his hands, "So I shout it."

I just want to shout your name.

Miss Jun looked at him, and Zhu Zan did not look away immediately as he did in the past because he was afraid to look at her. Instead, he met her gaze with a smile.

Miss Jun suddenly remembered that not long ago, on the way back to Beijing from the north, she had teased Zhu Zan and asked him to call her Jiuling, but Zhu Zan angrily refused without hesitation.

Then she thought again that since she met Zhu Zan, he never called her Jiuling.

Is that because he doesn't remember the name?

Of course not. He rushed to the capital and went to Princess Jiuling's grave in person. Even though he was facing an empty grave of the dead, he carefully used dew to tidy up his appearance.

Is that because he doesn't like the name?

Of course not. Whenever he goes out, no matter who asks him, he will clasp his fists and say his name loudly: Ling Jiu, Ling Jiu.

He would become depressed if Zhang Baotang accidentally mentioned this name at the dinner table.

He would get angry with me just because I said I was the Nine-Year-Old Princess.

Why is this?

Why does he never mention this name?

Why did he suddenly dare to shout this name so loudly?

Why did he suddenly stop being so talkative, no longer making jokes and joking around, but just smiling all the time, unconsciously, with a big smile on his face as he walked beside her and followed her?

Because I like this name.

Miss Jun looked at him and said "oh", then she pulled back the whip, urging the horse to turn around and move forward again.

Perhaps she herself did not realize that she was urging the horse faster than before, so that the wind blowing on her face was stronger, which could take away the heat on her face, preventing the heat from spreading like spring grass, breaking through the stone wall and drilling out of the soil, growing wildly and unruly.
