Chapter 5: Strange Feeling

Although Miss Jun wanted to keep running like this, the horse couldn't bear it even if she was tireless.

She stopped her horse in the evening.

"Nine years old."

Zhu Zan's voice echoed from behind.

Miss Jun seemed startled.

"Don't call anyone suddenly." She said, sitting upright on the horse, without turning her head and speaking calmly.

"How do you say this is sudden?" Zhu Zan said puzzledly, "You stopped suddenly, I..."

"Why do you talk so much?" Miss Jun turned to look at him and said angrily.

Zhu Zan was even more puzzled.

I thought to myself, I just said one sentence.

Why are you upset?

She is not the kind of person who loses her temper easily. She is always calm and composed and never gets angry easily.

He looked at Miss Jun intently, trying to see what was on her mind.

Miss Jun has turned her head.

"Are we going to travel at night or take a rest tonight?" she said in a calm voice, as if Zhu Zan's previous anger was just an illusion.

"We have been traveling at night for several days in a row. Let's take a rest today." Zhu Zan said, looking forward.

There is a city hidden ahead.

"Should we pass through this town and camp outdoors, or should we go into the city and rest now?" he asked.

"Let's camp outdoors." Miss Jun said, looking at the sky, "It's still early."

Zhu Zan nodded and urged his horse on.

"Let's go," he said. "It's better to go around instead of going into the city."

Just as he urged the horse, Miss Jun sighed again.

"Let's go into the city and rest," she said.

She always makes decisions decisively, especially when she is walking. When she makes a decision, she must have considered everything and made the best choice.

This is the first time he has gone back on his word.

It was as if the previous answer of not going into the city was just a casual remark without any careful thought.

She is not that kind of person. She must have something that requires her to go into the city, or it is inconvenient for her to sleep outdoors.

"Why?" Zhu Zan asked intently, glancing around again, "What's the matter?"

The journey was incredibly peaceful, without any snooping. Although Miss Jun analyzed that the emperor must have been on guard against anyone snooping here because of the opportunity to hide the silver in the Fang family, so he would ignore them, but Zhu Zan didn't believe that Lu Yunqi would be so honest and obedient.

Do you realize something is wrong now?

"Why?" Miss Jun said, angrily, "I just want to go to the city."

Why are you upset again?

Zhu Zan looked at her in confusion.

Miss Jun also looked at him, as arrogant and indifferent as before, but the red spot on the tip of her ear did not escape Zhu Zan's eyes.

Is this anger due to embarrassment? Is it because I asked her the reason for moving to the city? What is the reason that makes girls feel embarrassed when they are asked questions?

Zhu Zan turned his head with a look of sudden realization, looked at Miss Jun and smiled.

"Okay, let's go into the city then." He stopped smiling and nodded seriously, "I want to go into the city more too."

After saying this, he urged his horse forward.

I don't know what he's thinking. Miss Jun muttered to herself when she saw his expression, but she was relieved that he didn't ask any more questions. Looking at the man walking in front of her, she carefully reached out and touched her ears, rubbing them nervously to try to let the heat go away.

The city was still very busy in the evening. In the autumn, the streets were bustling with all kinds of freshly picked fruits, vegetables and grains. The two had to ride their horses through the streets.

"Come on." Zhu Zan turned back from time to time and looked at the woman following behind him.

She walked very slowly, and was very interested in the market nearby. She kept stopping, and if she turned back accidentally she would not see anyone.

Just as they took a few steps apart, a woman holding a child and an old man carrying a basket on their back came over and separated them.

Zhu Zan had to lean to the left and right and pass over these people to see Miss Jun.

Miss Jun had a smile on her face. She carried the reins behind her back and walked slowly, swinging them gently. She seemed not to hear Zhu Zan's urging.

It turned out that she had made the right decision to enter the city. Looking at the crowds of people around her, she felt her mind finally at peace.

"Hey." Zhu Zan squeezed over from the front, looking a little helpless, "Do you want to buy something?"

"No, I won't buy it." Miss Jun said.

"Then what are you looking at?" Zhu Zan asked.

"I'd love to." Miss Jun raised her eyebrows and said.

It's really not serious again, but it's a little different from the previous not seriousness. Before, not seriousness was a natural expression, but now it's a little more deliberate.

Zhu Zan frowned and looked at her, but he seemed to understand it a little bit, as if this was normal.

"Where do we stay?" he asked, no longer bothering with the terrible issue of buying and viewing, and looking ahead, "There is an inn here, it looks crowded and noisy, but there must be one at the city gate ahead, it should be quiet..."

Before he finished speaking, Miss Jun pointed her finger.

"Live here." She said crisply. After she finished speaking, she saw Zhu Zan looking at her, and her eyes widened. "Why are you looking at me?"

"Are you going to change it again?" Zhu Zan asked hesitantly.

He regretted the words as soon as they came out of his mouth. Wasn't it obvious that he was still blaming her for her casualness in going into the city instead of entering it before? Sure enough, the woman in front of him frowned, walked away past him without saying a word.

There are some things that you can't say even if you think about them, except on purpose, or if it was in the past, he would say it happily, but the key is that now is not the same as before.

Zhu Zan was filled with annoyance, but he followed with his head lowered, leading his two horses, and explained a few words.

"Why is it different now than before?" Miss Jun asked, "What's different about me?"

Although her voice was as calm as before, Zhu Zan didn't really think she was the same as before.

This explanation is worse than no explanation at all, as it brings us back to the past.

Zhu Zan didn't want to recall the many stupid things he had done to her, and he didn't want her to remember them either.

"No, I'm not talking about you." He said seriously and solemnly, without any joking. "I'm talking about myself. It's me who is different now."

"Why are you..." Miss Jun said, "...Let's eat."

Zhu Zan was listening with his ears tilted up, and felt that this sentence did not seem to mean the same thing.

"What?" he asked. "How about dinner?"

By now they had already entered the inn. The inn in the small town was simple and located in the middle of a busy city. There were people coming and going in the front hall and the back yard, and it was as busy as the streets.

The shop assistant who came to greet us also heard it.

"Would you like to eat?" he asked enthusiastically, draping the towel over his shoulders and pointing to the side, "We have it at home."

The inn, which is similar to a traveling inn, also provides food. At this moment, there are quite a few people sitting in the front hall, enjoying large bowls of wine and meat. At first glance, it seems that there is no extra seat.

"Why don't we eat in the room?" Zhu Zan said.

Miss Jun was already shaking her head.

"Right here, there's room inside," she said.

The waiter responded loudly, asking the customers who were stretching their legs in the lobby to make way while inviting them to go inside.

Zhu Zan did not move forward but looked at Miss Jun.

"I understand." He said suddenly.

Miss Jun looked at him quietly with a calm expression, but the hands hanging at her sides unconsciously clenched slightly, with her nails pressing against the palms.

"What?" she said.

"Today you are doing the opposite of what I am doing." Zhu Zan said.

Miss Jun loosened her clenched hands and smiled.

"Why don't you insist on doing the opposite of what I think?" she said with a raised eyebrow.

Zhu Zan looked at her.

"What you said makes sense." He nodded and said seriously.
