The characters on the compass twisted and then gathered in mid-air to form certain words.
The man was overjoyed, but the next second the characters twisted into a blur, and he coughed up a mouthful of blood onto the compass.
His face was ashen, clearly indicating that he had suffered a severe injury.
"Watch me." An old woman dressed in a wizard's robe sneered. She kept making hand seals and muttering to herself in a language that no one could understand.
"It seems to be from the mystical side."
"She seems to be performing a ritual. Wait, what are her offerings?"
The many guests, who were well-traveled and knowledgeable, all changed their expressions, wondering if they were being used as sacrificial offerings.
They soon found out that the old woman simply twisted her arm off, and then, as if accepted by some unseen entity, the arm quickly became withered and all its essence and blood disappeared.
A crack appeared in the sky, as if some mysterious being was about to descend.
A blood-red eye emerged from the crack, and the inexplicable pressure made the hairs on everyone's body stand on end.
Just then, the eye seemed to see something terrifying, and quickly withdrew from the crack, leaving behind a sentence in a language that no one could understand.
The old woman was dumbfounded and hurriedly cried out, "Why did you take my offerings but not do anything in return..."
Unfortunately, the other party completely ignored her. The spatial rift had completely disappeared, and the old woman lost an arm and a lot of her life essence in vain. She was so angry that she fainted.
"What exactly happened?" Everyone was bewildered. Why did they come halfway and then turn back? Was the amount of offerings insufficient?
