Many timid people ran away immediately, while others, relying on their powerful connections or overconfidence in their abilities, decided to stay and watch the excitement.
The staff in the black market all changed their expressions drastically, and many guards secretly surrounded them.
The auctioneer shook her head slightly at them, then quickly forced a smile and went to greet Sang Qian: "Sir, is there some misunderstanding? All our activities are reported to higher authorities."
As she spoke, she stuffed a stack of silver notes into his arms.
The black market has been able to thrive in Brightmoon City for so many years, it's impossible that it hasn't cultivated good relations with the authorities. Even tonight's auction was reported to the relevant departments, albeit under a different name.
Sang Qian shoved her away: "Don't give me that crap, search them!"
"Yes!" His men rushed backstage like wolves. The items that had been auctioned earlier had already been delivered, and now only the salt permits remained.
Qin Wanru found it strange and asked in a low voice, "Didn't you say he wouldn't come over in a big way? Then what's going on now?"
Zu An pointed to their clothes: "Did you notice? They weren't wearing official robes this time, they were all in civilian clothes; and they claimed that they received a tip from the public that there were contraband items here, and there was no mention of salt permits. Obviously, they wanted to handle this quietly."
The woman on the stage looked rather unpleasant: "General Sang, isn't this a bit against the rules?"

The group of people in the black market were furious, and several of them couldn't wait to rush forward, but they were stopped by their companions.

Zu An then pulled Qin Wanru up: "Let's go!"

"He wouldn't dare to do it openly, but who knows what he might do in private." Zu An thought of Qiu Honglei's solemn warning and knew that the forces behind him would definitely not sit idly by and suffer such a great loss.
