Chapter Sixty-Five: Moving into Her House

Chapter Sixty-Five: Moving into Her House

Su Xiao's fingers tightened suddenly as she gripped the milk tea cup, somewhat annoyed.

"Xu Bozhou, this is my home. Did you ask for my opinion?"

Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried a clear sense of resistance.

This person dared to move all his belongings to her without even asking any questions; there's no logic to that.

Seeing that she was truly angry, Xu Bozhou suppressed the playful intentions on his face.

He took two steps forward, closing the distance. His cool aura, carried by the night breeze, didn't feel oppressive; instead, it conveyed a subtle tension.

"I don't plan to stay here permanently."

He lowered his voice and gently touched her still red earlobe with his fingertips. Seeing that she didn't pull away, he continued speaking.

"Xiaoxiao has gone through so much trouble, you're not the only one who's scared, I'm even more scared than you."

He didn't finish his sentence, but Su Xiao understood.

The unspoken words were hidden in the worry in his eyes. When she was so stressed that she needed sedatives to sleep, he stayed by her side with trembling hands until dawn.

Xu Bozhou lowered his eyes. Every time he thought about the accidents she might encounter when she was home alone, his heart ached as if it were being squeezed.

"I'll stay for a week."

Xu Bozhou gently brushed his thumb across the back of her hand, his tone soft.

"I'll leave once you've recovered."

He paused, his Adam's apple bobbing, before continuing, his tone devoid of any of the oppressive air of a superior, replaced only by a cautious, consultative manner:

"I'll do all the housework, take you to work in the morning and evening, and cook for you in the evening. I even learned how to make your favorite crab meat lion's head meatballs..."

As soon as she said that, Su Xiao's ears turned bright red.

She had never seen Xu Bozhou like this before.

Even when he was struggling, he still had a temper. Now that he holds a high position, he is even more decisive and ruthless in his actions.

But his serious gaze, and the slight tremor in his fingertips from nervousness, instantly dispelled any remaining anger she felt.

She held the milk tea cup, staring down at the tips of her shoes, her voice barely audible:

"Then... one week it is, but you're not allowed to touch my things without permission..."

Xu Bozhou looked at her reddened ear tips, and a smile instantly spread across his eyes. He gave a soft "hmm" with a hint of joy in his voice.

Seeing this, Xu An secretly rolled his eyes, but still tactfully pulled Chen Huai and the worker into the house, leaving the hallway space for the two of them.

Xu Bozhou leaned against the wall, tall and elegant, a stylish silver necklace draped under his shirt collar, his gaze both gentle and passionate.

"What do you want to eat tomorrow morning? Pan-fried buns from that old-established shop downstairs, or should I cook you millet porridge?"

He remembered that she had a weak stomach and couldn't eat too much oily food in the morning, but she loved the crispy bottom of pan-fried buns and would only eat two more if she ate them with warm porridge.

Su Xiao turned her head away from his gaze, her voice as soft as a breeze:

"casual."

She still hasn't fully opened up, and won't even say a clear preference.

The warm light in the hallway fell on her profile, and the small shadow cast by her eyelashes trembled, like a little animal feeling insecure.

The air grew still again, with only the faint sound of the elevator running in the distance.

Xu Bozhou stared at the stray hairs clinging to the ends of her hair, his Adam's apple bobbing, and finally he asked the question that had been weighing on his mind:

"Xiaoxiao, haven't you... ever thought about getting a divorce?"

Su Xiao's body stiffened. She looked up, her eyes filled with astonishment, as if she hadn't expected him to suddenly bring this up.

How could she not have thought of that?

Even before Xia Zhi appeared, Yan Mingshen wasn't particularly warm towards him.

The moon he painstakingly pulled down could never compare to the white moonlight of his childhood sweetheart.

She had been filled with disappointment since the night her father died, and she dreamed of leaving him and the Yan family.

He never cared about the future she wanted.

What she considered art and art gallery of life was nothing more than connections and money in Yan Mingshen's eyes.

However, the land deed for the Su family's property is still in Zhou Manyun's hands. If she wants to get away unscathed, she has to keep the divorce a secret.

It wasn't that she didn't trust him, she just...

These words were stuck in my throat, and I couldn't say them.

Su Xiao could only lower her head, burying her emotions in the shadows, her voice low and hoarse:

"I can't live without it..."

The attempt to escape is all too obvious.

Seeing her troubled expression, Xu Bozhou felt a slight sting in his heart.

Does she really like Yan Mingshen that much?

He didn't press further, but simply sighed softly, raised his hand, and gently ruffled her hair, his touch as tender as if soothing a frightened kitten.

"I see."

After saying that, the two walked into the house one after the other. The motion-sensor light in the entryway finally turned on, and the warm yellow light dispelled the chill of the night.

As soon as she changed her shoes, Xu An ran over from the living room and hugged Su Xiao's arm affectionately:

"Xiaoxiao, Uncle bought a new sofa, it's so soft to sit on!"

"You."

Su Xiao helplessly tapped her nose and followed Xu An into the living room, half-heartedly pushing her.

The two huddled together, chattering away, from the sofa to the newly changed curtains, and then talking about going to an art exhibition together next week. Their laughter filled the living room, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.

Xu Bozhou stood in the entryway, watching their backs as they sat side by side on the sofa, his fingertips unconsciously tightening.

He was still unwilling to give up and greedily wanted to get more.

At first, he went back to her just to help her. He thought that seeing her happy would be enough for him.

But the possessiveness called love grew wildly in his heart.

I long for those beautiful eyes, that they always only look at me.

Xu Bozhou closed his eyes, turned his back, raised his hand, and gently kissed the fingertips that were tracing her cheek, a look of longing welling up in his eyes.

I love her so much, even if it's just like this, even if she lives in the shadows forever...

Chen Huai put the last cardboard box in the corner of the guest room, gave Xu Bozhou a "done" look, and then turned and left quietly with the workers.

Xu An nestled on the other side of the sofa, watching a movie with Su Xiao.

She's been working a lot of overtime lately, and soon she started yawning.

Seeing that she was tired, Su Xiao turned to the side and nuzzled her neck with the top of her head: "Go back to sleep if you're sleepy."

"Hmm~ I can't bear to part with Xiaoxiao."

Xu An leaned against her, and the two joked around for a while longer. Xu An couldn't take it anymore and yawned, actually saying goodbye to Su Xiao.

The entryway door closed again, and the room fell silent instantly. The movie "Flipped" on TV had only started playing.

Su Xiao got up and went to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator, scooped out a few ice cubes and put them into a glass. She poured half a glass of chilled lychee wine, and the ice cubes made a crisp sound as they hit the glass.

She had just settled back into the sofa when she heard a faint sound of water coming from the direction of the bathroom.
