Chapter Sixty-Six: Wet Temptation

Chapter Sixty-Six: Wet Temptation

Su Xiao stared at the scene in the movie where the female lead looked up at the sycamore tree, but her eyes were somewhat unfocused.

Unconsciously, her fingertips rubbed the rim of the glass, and she couldn't even taste the sweetness of the fruit wine; instead, her cheeks quietly warmed up.

The sound of water gradually stopped.

Su Xiao's heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason, but she didn't dare to turn around.

Until a damp figure sat down beside her, the sofa sank slightly, and the familiar scent of shower gel enveloped her in the warmth of the man's body, instantly enveloping her.

Xu Bozhou's hair was still dripping wet, and water droplets slid down the ends of his hair, past his neckline, and into the loosely tied collar of his shirt.

Only the bottom two buttons of her black shirt were fastened, revealing her well-defined collarbone.

The fabric was slightly see-through from the moisture, revealing the subtle outline of the waist and abdomen muscles, an effortless yet irresistible allure.

He didn't speak, but turned his head to look at her, his eyes still wet from his recent shower, like a pool half-filled with warm water.

The light from the television screen flickered in his pupils.

Su Xiao's slender white fingers silently clenched the glass.

The movie was showing the scene where the female lead first met the male lead. Sunlight fell on the boy's blond hair, and the sound of the girl's heartbeat came through the speakers.

Su Xiao could feel the gaze of the person next to her still lingering on her profile. He even breathed softly, and occasionally a drop of water would fall from his hair onto the sofa, the subtle sound particularly clear in the quiet room.

She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, only to meet Xu Bozhou's gaze before he could look away.

A faint smile played in his eyes, as if he had noticed her little gesture, but he didn't point it out. He simply picked up a towel from the coffee table and slowly dried his hair, his shirt collar slipping down a little more as he did so, revealing more skin.

Su Xiao turned around, picked up her glass and took a big gulp of fruit wine. The sweet liquid slid down her throat, but it didn't suppress the heat that spread from her ear tips to her neck.

The heartbeat on the TV seemed to overlap with my own, thumping loudly, and even the aroma of white tea in the air became unusually ambiguous.

Xu Bozhou slowed down his hair drying, draped the towel over his knees, and gently touched the glass in her hand with his well-defined knuckles.

"You have a bad stomach, yet you drink iced drinks?"

His voice was low, with a languid quality as if he had just taken a shower, the last syllable brushing against my ear like a feather against my skin.

"I...I'll just have a little."

She defended herself softly, but dared not look at him, her eyes fixed on the pale pink liquid swirling in her glass.

The movie happened to show the scene where the male lead climbs a tree to get a kite for the female lead, and the boy's figure is reflected in the sunset.

Su Xiao heard the person beside her sigh softly, and then a warm breath suddenly approached. He raised his hand to brush away the stray hairs that fell beside her cheek, his fingertips brushing against her earlobe, making her eyelashes tremble with ticklishness.

"Xiaoxiao."

He spoke, his voice even softer than before, "I'm sorry."

He shouldn't have come over without her permission, but he was really scared.

I'm afraid she might disappear if I'm not careful.

Time and again, it wasn't just Su Xiao who was stressed; he was too, wishing he could keep his eyes glued to her, watching her every moment.

She turned her head and met his deep eyes, where her reflection was clear and focused.

"I'm not angry anymore."

Su Xiao pursed her lips and held the wine glass in both hands.

As the movie drew to a close, Xu Bozhou got up and returned to his guest room, leaving her plenty of space.

Perhaps because she had drunk the fruit wine, Su Xiao fell asleep quickly after washing up in the master bedroom.

As dawn broke, fallen leaves drifted outside the windows of Luofeng Garden, and the autumnal wind, carrying a chill, felt particularly cold on the face.

Su Xiao followed Xu Bozhou out the door. As soon as she got into the car, she couldn't help but rub her arms. She had rushed out in the morning and only wore a thin cardigan. She didn't expect the temperature to drop so drastically.

Xu Bozhou glanced at her, said nothing, but simply raised his hand and turned up the car's heater by two degrees.

When I arrived at the company building, the car had just come to a stop.

Su Xiao shivered as soon as she opened the car door. A cold wind rushed into her collar, and she instinctively buried her chin in it.

Just as she was about to walk inside, her wrist was suddenly gently tugged. She turned around and saw Xu Bozhou untiing his scarf and wrapping it around her neck.

The scarf still carried the scent of his cedarwood, which, combined with its warmth, instantly kept the cold wind at bay.

Su Xiao opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, she saw Xu Bozhou had already entered the private elevator.

I reached up and touched the scarf around my neck. The soft material felt warm, and my heart felt like it had been gently bumped.

After a long day of work, Su Xiao was so busy that she barely had time to breathe. By the time she closed her laptop, it was already dark outside.

She had arranged to have dinner with Qin Yu at the mall today, thinking she could pick out a scarf to wear.

She can't monopolize Xu Bozhou every day.

She picked up her phone and saw a message Xu Bozhou had sent half an hour earlier: "I have an urgent meeting and will be late. You eat with Qin Yu first, don't wait for me."

She replied "okay," packed her things, and headed to the restaurant in the mall.

Qin Yu arrived early, wearing a light-colored hoodie, looking like a handsome young college student.

He was sitting by the window, and when he saw her come in, he quickly waved, his eyes sparkling: "Senior sister, over here!"

"Mm." Su Xiao smiled and walked over to sit down.

"Why are you here so early?"

"There's not much work today, so I've brought out all the silver-making machines in the studio and set them up."

Qin Yu took a sip of his drink and asked with a smile.

"Senior sister, when are you planning to make your move?"

Su Xiao paused, her ears turning slightly warm: "Let's wait... for Xu Bozhou's birthday."

Before the food was served, Su Xiao and Qin Yu chatted casually about work.

"Su Xiao?"

A cold, deep male voice suddenly came from behind.

She turned around and saw Yan Mingshen standing not far away. His black suit made him look even more upright, but his face was frighteningly cold.

Xia Zhi linked arms with him, wearing an exquisite dress, her face bearing undisguised sarcasm.

"Oh, isn't this Miss Su? She was inseparable from President Xu not long ago, how come she's switched to a younger one now? She's quite the ladies' man."

Qin Yu immediately frowned, about to retort, when Su Xiao gently pressed the back of his hand.

She stood up, her voice steady, her face expressionless: "We're just talking about work."

"Let's talk about work?"

Xia Zhi chuckled, took half a step forward, and raised her voice, drawing the attention of several tables of guests nearby.

"A man and a woman dining alone in a restaurant, and they seem to be having a very pleasant conversation."

"Yan Mingshen, aren't you going to do anything about your little lover?"

Su Xiao scoffed, "Why is it that only officials are allowed to set fires, while ordinary people are forbidden to light lamps?"

He dared to be affectionate with Xia Zhi at her father's funeral, so even if she really does have a boyfriend now, it's not his place to say anything.

Besides, they are already divorced, it's all in black and white and stamped.

"Su Xiao!"

Seeing the surrounding diners' eyes darting back and forth between the three of them, Yan Mingshen finally spoke, his voice low and carrying an undeniable sense of pressure.

“You are my wife, Yan Mingshen. Are you going to make a fool of the Yan family by having dinner with another man here?”

"People with heart conditions see everything as dirty."

Su Xiao couldn't help but retort.

Yan Mingshen frowned, thinking of the empty cardboard cabinet at home. He stepped forward and reached out to grab her wrist.

"Come back with me."
