Chapter 52 Let's Get a Divorce

Chapter 52 Let's Get a Divorce

"I just want to know what happened."

Yan Mingshen took a step forward, trying to see her expression clearly.

Xia Zhi said you pushed her...

"It wasn't a push."

Su Xiao interrupted him, her tone as indifferent as if she were talking about the weather today.

"I kicked it."

Yan Mingshen's steps suddenly stopped, as if someone had grabbed his heart, and his breath caught in his throat for half a second.

He stared into Su Xiao's eyes, trying to find a trace of a joke in them.

But those eyes now held only indifference.

"What did you say?"

His Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice became hoarse.

Even if she's wrong, you can't...

"Can't what?"

Su Xiao straightened up, took a step forward, and approached him.

"Yan Mingshen, she saved you, not me. What's wrong with me kicking her?"

Legally speaking, they are already divorced.

She doesn't need to keep putting up with him.

"Su Xiao."

Yan Mingshen suddenly became agitated. He reached out to grab her arm, but Su Xiao dodged him sharply.

"Did Xia Zhi do something to you? Tell me, I..."

She looked at his pained expression, without a trace of pity in her eyes:

"She wanted to fake a fall to extort money from me, and I just let her have her way. Anyway, haven't you always felt that she was being wronged?"

"I didn't, Xiaoxiao..."

Yan Mingshen opened his mouth, but his voice was pale.

He only felt a sense of responsibility towards Xia Zhi; he never intended to hurt her because of her.

Whether you have it or not is no longer important.

Su Xiao turned around, her back to him, and spoke very softly.

"Yan Mingshen, we're even now. From now on, don't interfere in my affairs, and I don't want to know about yours."

As soon as Su Xiao finished speaking, her wrist was suddenly gripped by a strong force.

Then her back slammed against the cold wall, causing her to groan in pain.

Yan Mingshen braced himself on top of her head with one hand, trapping her between his arm and the wall.

His hot breath landed on her face.

"Even if both are settled?"

He enunciated those two words, his voice cold and hard.

"Su Xiao, you were the one who said you wanted to marry me."

Su Xiao's wrist ached from his grip, and the wound under the bandage was pulled, causing it to bleed slightly.

She looked up at him, a cold glint in her eyes:

"But I regret it now."

"Too late!"

Yan Mingshen gripped her shoulder with his other hand, his knuckles turning white.

"Unless we get a divorce, you will always be mine."

"Then let's get a divorce."

Su Xiao interrupted him, her eyelashes trembling slightly, her eyes resolute.

"Yan Mingshen, I find you disgusting."

Her words were like knives, stabbing into Yan Mingshen's heart again and again.

He opened his mouth, but couldn't utter a single word.

Disgusting... His hands were shaking terribly.

Taking advantage of his momentary daze, Su Xiao forcefully broke free, tearing her wound and causing it to hurt even more, the blood seeping out soaking through the bandage.

Yan Mingshen caught a glimpse of that red, his pupils contracted sharply, and he subconsciously loosened his grip.

Su Xiao pushed him away, staggered back two steps, clutched her wrist, and looked at him coldly.

"I'm sorry, Xiaoxiao, I..."

Yan Mingshen tried to pull her, but she warily dodged him.

Looking at the indifference in her eyes, he felt as if all his strength had been drained away, and his shoulders slumped slightly.

"Shall I reapply the medicine to you, please?"

"No need." Su Xiao wiped away her tears, her tone regaining its previous coldness.

"Yan Mingshen, you should go back and see your childhood sweetheart."

After saying that, she turned and left without pausing for a moment.

Yan Mingshen stood frozen in place, watching her figure disappear at the end of the corridor, his hand still outstretched.

My palms felt empty, as if a piece of my heart had been ripped out, leaving a hollow, aching pain.

*

The dark purple Rolls-Royce rolled over the bluestone slabs in front of the old house, the sound of its tires screeching particularly jarring in the quiet alley.

Xu Bozhou opened the car door, his bespoke suit exuding an air of authority.

His fox-like eyes were half-closed, and the beauty mark at the corner of his eye gleamed coldly in the gloomy sky, like a star coated with poison.

He ignored the butler who was bowing to greet him and led Chen Huai straight into the room.

In the living room, the old master of the Xu family sat on the main seat made of rosewood, his fingers stroking the edge of the teacup, exuding the majesty of someone who had long held a high position.

Xu Yu sat in a wheelchair to the side, covered with a thick cashmere blanket, the curve of his limp completely concealed, his exposed hand gripping the armrest tightly.

"Bo Zhou is back, please have a seat."

The old man spoke first, his voice devoid of emotion.

Xu Bozhou didn't move. He stood in the center of the living room, his gaze sweeping over the two of them, his tone as cold as ice.

Where is Xu Lin?

Xu Yu's Adam's apple bobbed as he tried to remain calm.

"Uncle, what a question! Xu Lin is from a collateral branch of the family, how would I know..."

He avoided Xu Bozhou's gaze, cold sweat trickling down his forehead and onto the cashmere blanket.

He was genuinely afraid of Xu Bozhou.

Back then, just because he made that woman's lewd joke, I'd rather hurt the enemy eight hundred and myself a thousand than let him lose his leg.

For him, Xu Bozhou had been a nightmare all these years.

The huge old house was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"Yeah?"

Xu Bozhou chuckled and waved to Chen Huai.

"Then please, Young Master Xu, come down and kneel down."

Chen Huai immediately stepped forward and walked behind Xu Yu.

"Get out!"

Xu Yu was hit where it hurt, and suddenly raised his hand to push Chen Huai, but the other party easily grabbed his wrist.

Chen Huai tightened his grip, and Xu Yu couldn't break free; cold sweat instantly soaked his back.

"Bo Zhou!"

The old man said in a deep voice:

"Do you even respect me as your father anymore?"

"oh?"

Xu Bozhou leaned back in his chair, slowly took a sip of tea, and raised an eyebrow at the old man.

The old man's face turned pale and then red, his fingers gripping the teacup tightly.

Xu Bozhou kept his word. If Xu Lin wasn't handed over today, it wouldn't just be Xu Lin who would suffer.

"Someone come here."

The old man finally gave in; he leaned on his cane and put the teacup upside down.

"Bring Xu Lin up."

Not long after, two servants carried Xu Lin into the living room.

Xu Lin, sweating profusely, was forced to kneel before Xu Bozhou.

He was dressed neatly and didn't look like he had been to the police station at all.

Xu Yu sat in his wheelchair, his face ashen, his lips trembling as if he wanted to say something, but he was silenced instantly by Xu Bozhou's cold gaze.

He knew that no amount of pleading would make a difference now.

Xu Bozhou didn't look at Xu Lin, but slowly raised his chin, his tone as indifferent as if he were talking about today's weather:

"Chen Huai".

Chen Huai immediately stepped forward.

Before Xu Lin could beg for mercy, he suddenly raised his foot and kicked Xu Lin hard in the knee.

There was a crisp "crack" sound.

Xu Lin let out a heart-wrenching scream, his clothes instantly soaked with cold sweat, and he collapsed to the ground, clutching his knees and curling up in a ball.

The old man closed his eyes, unable to bear watching any longer, yet there was nothing he could do.

Xu Bozhou stood up, straightened his suit cuffs, and glanced at Xu Lin, who was groaning on the ground, and Xu Yu, whose face was pale. His tone was authoritative and imposing.

"Old man, this time I'm letting you off the hook because of you, but if it happens again..."

He paused, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"I guarantee that Xu Lin will never be found in China again."

He walked slowly to Xu Lin and looked down at him.
