It was a cold winter day, and she was already wearing thick clothes. Now that she was pregnant, she was also wearing two thick cloaks over her shoulders.
Yue Jiang didn't need to look in a mirror to know how bulky she looked, all wrapped up like that.
Not to mention dragging Jingyan's cloak while walking, it was very difficult.
"Your Highness, I really can't walk anymore."
Jing Yan had been so worried that he forgot Yue Jiang couldn't handle so much stuff. Slightly embarrassed, Jing Yan said, "I didn't think it through. I was just worried you'd get cold!"
"Fortunately, it didn't snow today. I even sweated a little while warming myself by the stove in the palace," Yue Jiang smiled, and bent down to untie the cloak that Jing Yan had just tied around her neck.
Jing Yan held Yue Jiang down, preventing her from taking it off: "Sweating and then being exposed to the wind makes you more susceptible to catching a cold. I've been wearing this cloak on you for half a day, and if I take it off now, you won't be able to avoid it. Don't move."
Yue Jiang was about to ask how to get there when Jing Yan suddenly picked her up in his arms. She panicked and said, "Your Highness, this is Delin Palace. What if the court officials see us?"
Jing Yan had already strode forward, unconcerned: "It's cold in winter, and my Crown Princess is pregnant. What's wrong with me holding my own Crown Princess?"
"It's alright. The court officials are all in the palace; they can't see you. If you don't like the smell of wine in the palace, I'll take you back to the East Palace right away."
It was the New Year, and the palace was decorated very festively. Not only were there gilded and painted lanterns hanging high in the corridors, but every few lanterns there were also octagonal wind chimes that jingled when the wind blew.
Jing Yan carried Yue Jiang through the long corridor, each step firm and steady, as if he were protecting Yue Jiang through her long life.
Yue Jiang leaned comfortably on Jing Yan's shoulder. Jing Yan felt the trust the person in his arms had in him, and he subtly curved the corners of his mouth into a smile.
Unfortunately, the weather turned against them. Not long after Jing Yan led Yue Jiang out of Delin Palace, snowflakes began to fall.
The falling snow would wet the ground, so Jingyan dared not let Yuejiang ride in the sedan chair, as it would be bad if it slipped halfway.
So, while the snow was still light, Jingyan continued walking forward with Yuejiang in his arms, intending to return to the East Palace as soon as possible.
As the winter snow fell in abundance, Yue Jiang could see the layers of snowflakes in the dim sky, some rushing forward and others lingering, but eventually falling to the ground, landing on her and Jing Yan.
Suddenly, Yue Jiang had an idea. She swung her arm and pulled at Jing Yan's crown, causing Jing Yan's neatly tied hair to fall down, his black hair hanging down his back like a ponytail.
Jing Yan suddenly noticed and asked in confusion, "Jiang'er, why are you taking out my hairpin?"
Yue Jiang pointed to her own hair and pinched a strand of Jing Yan's long hair, showing off her black hair covered by snow with a smile.
"Your Highness and I will grow old together in the snow. Don't you think our black hair covered by the snow makes us look like old people with white hair?"
Jing Yan looked at his hair and Yue Jiang's hair, and they did look very similar: "Jiang'er, do you want to grow old with me?"
Unlike Jing Yan, Yue Jiang didn't answer honestly. Instead, she deliberately said, "Alas, Your Highness doesn't believe me. Then, I'd like to say that I want to grow old with someone else. Would Your Highness agree?"
Jing Yan suddenly stopped, and regardless of whether Yue Jiang was joking or not, he stared into her eyes seriously and directly.
"No, now that you've married me, no one in Jing Kingdom will dare to marry you."
Jing Yan's imposing manner was quite strong, while Yue Jiang said resentfully, "So what if no one dares to marry me? Why does Your Highness make it sound like a concubine is a source of trouble?"
Jing Yan took another step, his voice firm and clear amidst the swirling snowflakes.
“You are not a source of trouble. You are my wife who has shared my life with me and the mother of my unborn child. I will not allow others to slander you, nor will I allow you to have thoughts about other people.”
"Jiang'er, I am willing to grow old with you."
Jing Yan is willing to spend years of hardship with Yue Jiang and walk through the long journey of life together.
Hearing this, Yue Jiang felt a strange warmth in her heart, even though she was in the cold snow.
In the past, to ensure that the beauties they cultivated would only play along and not develop any real feelings, the Moon Kingdom copied down many vows of eternal love and made them memorize them perfectly. However, every copy of these vows was followed by a tragedy.
Once memorized, not only can I use these words to deceive people, but I also become immune to them.
Therefore, Yue Jiang did not have any expectations for love. She was not deliberately deceiving Jing Yan just now; it was just a sudden whim.
It was just a whim, but why did her heart become so chaotic? It was as if there had been a stagnant pool of water for many years, where no one had ever passed by or lingered.
Ever since she met Jing Yan, the stagnant water in her heart has been frequently plunged into scalding lava, causing that stagnant water to now show signs of being half-cooked.
It's neither cold enough nor can it be brought to life immediately.
Yue Jiang sighed softly.
Hearing Yue Jiang's soft sigh, Jing Yan asked with a hint of sadness, "Does Jiang'er not want to?"
"Of course not," Yue Jiang whispered softly in Jing Yan's ear, "Your Highness, if I weren't pregnant, I would really like to be close to you."
She wasn't lying; that feeling temporarily made her seek some pleasure.
Jing Yan tightened his grip on Yue Jiang, his throat bobbed involuntarily, and even the heavy snow couldn't stop his neck and cheeks from gradually turning red.
He muttered angrily, "Yue Jiang, you're just taking advantage of the fact that you're carrying my child. You can bully me all you want, but don't be afraid after you give birth."
...
The rear hall of Delin Hall.
"Yutong, the smell of alcohol in the palace is strong. Qiulu has been coughing since falling into the water in autumn, but he must be feeling much better now!"
In a small room, Jing Lu held Zheng Yutong close, gently stroking and caring for her, his tone tender.
As soon as Jing Lu finished speaking, Zheng Yutong coughed a few times, covering her mouth, and said sadly, "Third cousin, you shouldn't care about me so much. My great-aunt wants me to marry His Highness the Crown Prince."
