"Didn't she say that she had her eye on the eldest daughter of Prime Minister Zhao? Miss Zhao lost her grandmother three years ago and is about to begin her mourning period. You should prepare gifts to please her."
Jing Lu remained affectionate and anxiously argued, "What Miss Zhao? I've never even met her. Why would I try to win her favor? You've been so melancholy all this time. Isn't it because you're still upset that your brother saved your sister-in-law but not you that day?"
He scoffed, "You have half of me in your heart and half of my brother, do you think I don't know that?"
Zheng Yutong coughed even more violently. She looked up and said angrily, "Third cousin, how I treated His Highness the Crown Prince was decided by my great-aunt. As for you, I gave you my heart and my feelings, but I just can't clear your name."
"Are you still going to say I'm fickle? What I'm resentful about is that His Highness the Crown Prince didn't save me, when I clearly made a fool of myself that day."
As she spoke, Zheng Yutong got out of Jing Lu's arms and started sobbing, refusing to let Jing Lu hold her again.
"I was wrong, Yutong. Don't be angry. I know you have me in your heart. So what if you have my brother? I've liked you since I was a child. I'm satisfied if you have even a little bit of a place for me."
In the dead of winter, Jing Lu was sweating profusely with anxiety, and no matter how many kind words he said, he couldn't coax Zheng Yutong.
Until he gritted his teeth and slapped himself across the face, Zheng Yutong heard a loud sound, turned around in surprise, and felt heartbroken for Jing Lu.
"Third cousin, why are you hitting yourself?"
After hitting himself, Jing Lu said with tears of humiliation, "I still like you."
Upon hearing this, Zheng Yutong burst into laughter through her tears, a smug gleam in her eyes. She looked up and planted a kiss on Jing Lu's cheek.
Jing Lu covered his face, his heart pounding. He quickly hugged Zheng Yutong and was about to kiss her when Zheng Yutong suddenly pushed him away and reminded him.
"Third cousin, I still want to enter the East Palace. You can see and touch it, but nothing else can happen."
"You're keeping me hanging on like this," Jing Lu said indignantly, then quickly softened his stance: "You've said it so many times, I know, I'll give you whatever you're willing to give me."
As soon as he finished speaking, he tackled Zheng Yutong to the ground. Suddenly, Jing Lu heard a noise and someone called out to him, "Third Prince, Princess Cheng is coming this way. Please come out quickly."
The words startled Zheng Yutong and Jing Lu, who immediately snapped out of their daze. Zheng Yutong pushed Jing Lu away, saying, "We can't let her see us."
