Chapter 170 Yue Jiang was tricked by Cheng Suyun into taking Jing Lu away after she spilled wine on her.

Jing Shuo was stunned, and tentatively called out, "Sister-in-law?"

"Second Prince, it's not the Crown Princess, it's Miss Zhao," the attendant quickly reminded his prince when he realized he had mistaken her for someone else.

After hearing this clearly, Jing Shuo rubbed his eyes and looked again, discovering that the person in front of him was dressed much like Yue Jiang, but his appearance was at most delicate.

What disappointed Jing Shuo was not that the person in front of him was not Yue Jiang, but that she stared at his crippled legs for a long time, which made Jing Shuo furious.

"How dare you look me in the eye! So what if you are the daughter of the Prime Minister? It's not your place to look down on me."

Zhao Nianfu was scolded, and she curtsied and apologized: "This humble woman dares not. This humble woman only wanted to come to the Peach Garden to hang lanterns and had no intention of offending the Second Prince."

“Our young lady did not do it on purpose. On the contrary, the Second Prince almost hurt her by throwing the wine pot. You can see that there are wine stains all over her clothes.”

"If I were to return to the Empress Dowager's presence, it would surely be an offense."

"Is it my fault? Is it because my legs are crippled and I don't even have eyes?"

Jing Shuo was being lectured by a girl. He pressed his hands on the armrests of his wheelchair with a gloomy expression, leaned forward, and his bloodshot eyes were full of sinister intent, exuding a strong sense of oppression.

Zhao Nianfu's maid was so frightened that she knelt down and kept kowtowing, saying, "This servant dares not, this servant dares not."

"And you, do you dare?" Jing Shuo asked Zhao Nianfu coldly.

Zhao Nianfu looked up with trembling eyes, tears welling up in them: "This humble woman dares not offend the Second Prince. This humble woman was just passing by and does not know how she angered the Second Prince."

“But there is absolutely no contempt. The Second Prince should not be—inferior,” she said softly and with pity.

"I have low self-esteem?" Jing Shuo thought he had heard a ridiculous joke. Looking more closely at Zhao Nianfu's eyes, he actually saw sympathy in them.

That same look in his eyes again. It was the same look Jinglu gave him that day, rubbing salt into his wounds while pitying him as if he were a piece of trash.

This Zhao family girl today is something else. She's almost married to a cripple herself, yet she still dares to sympathize with him.

“Miss, let’s go to Empress Dowager Zheng for advice,” the maid urged, pulling on Zhao Nianfu’s arm.

Seeing Jing Shuo's increasingly grim expression, and hearing the maid's suggestion to take the matter to Empress Dowager Zheng, the attendant hesitated, remembering that the Zhao family's daughter was also Empress Dowager Cheng's favored granddaughter-in-law, and didn't want to strain the relationship too much.

He quickly waved his hand while Jing Shuo was distracted, saying, "Hurry up and go, the Second Prince is just drunk and means no harm."

Upon seeing this, Zhao Nianfu hurriedly got up, and the maidservant said fearfully, "This servant will take you to the back hall to change your clothes."

While Jing Shuo was distracted, the person got up and ran away. By the time he came to his senses, he could only hear the lingering voice of the maid.

Jing Shuo laughed in anger: "She pities me? I'll ask her why she pities me. Go after her."

The attendant hesitated: "Second Prince, that's Prime Minister Zhao's daughter!"

Jing Shuo showed no fear whatsoever. He reached out and grabbed the cane from another attendant's hand: "You're not going to push me? Then I'll go by myself. When we get back, I'll have you all beaten and kicked out."

Jing Shuo couldn't walk with a cane at all, and his attendants dared not take the risk. For their own sake, they had no choice but to push Jing Shuo to chase after Zhao Nianfu.

Hopefully, once she catches up, Zhao Nianfu can say some nice things to appease this troublesome woman; otherwise, even marriage will be a problem.

"I'll push it away right now, I'll push it away right now."
