...
"Your Highness, please forgive us! We didn't mean it!"
Yue Jiang was sitting on a stone bench waiting for Jing Yan when two palace maids came over. Suddenly, the wine pot they were carrying tilted, and the wine spilled all over Yue Jiang.
During her pregnancy, Yue Jiang couldn't stand the smell of alcohol. Before she could even speak, the smell made her gag repeatedly.
Qingfei was anxiously trying to calm Yuejiang down, but Qingke scolded them sternly.
"Don't you know the rules? Do you know how to do things? You're carrying things around, why do you have to spill them on the Crown Princess? If the Crown Princess and her unborn child are hurt, can you take responsibility?"
"Your Highness, please forgive us. We were just being impetuous."
The two palace maids who had made a mistake were so frightened that they trembled like quails and begged for forgiveness.
Seeing that things were not going well, one of the young palace maids mustered up her courage, raised her head, and offered a suggestion.
"I am a palace maid of Liushang Pavilion and am familiar with this place. In case any guests get their clothes dirty, Liushang Pavilion has prepared new clothes. If the Crown Princess does not mind, you may come with me to change into some dry clothes."
"Who do you think you are, that the Crown Princess would just go with you so easily?" Qingke said angrily, hands on her hips.
The smell of alcohol on Yue Jiang was very strong, and after it seeped in, it made her dizzy and nauseous. Qing Fei said anxiously.
"Sister Qingke, the Crown Princess really can't stand this smell anymore. I think she should go with them to change her clothes first. Anyway, we'll be with her."
When Qingke turned around, she saw that the Crown Princess was vomiting and tears were coming out of her eyes, so she could only make do with it for now.
But when she thought of His Highness the Crown Prince, who had just gone to release lanterns, she worried: "But His Highness the Crown Prince is still releasing lanterns for the Crown Princess. What if I can't see the Crown Princess later?"
The young palace maid pointed to her companion and said, "This is all our fault. Let my younger sister wait here for His Highness the Crown Prince and inform him of the Crown Princess's whereabouts later."
Qingke hesitated.
Yue Jiang felt even more nauseous. Despite her discomfort, she instructed, "Do it this way. Qing Ke, have her take me to change into new clothes. I can't stand the smell anymore."
"Alright, alright, I'll help you up right away," Qingke quickly helped Yuejiang up, then sternly said to the impetuous little palace maid, "Hurry up and lead the way."
Before long, Yue Jiang and the others were taken away by the palace maid.
After a few moments, Jingyan came up from the shore and was about to point out the lanterns that had been released to Yuejiang when he found the place empty.
He frowned and looked around. Another palace maid who remained stepped forward and reported.
"Your Highness, the Crown Princess's clothes were accidentally wet by this servant. She has gone to the back hall to change. This servant is following the Crown Princess's orders and will wait for you here. Your Highness may go and find the Crown Princess."
“Go,” Jing Yan said, not wanting to leave Yue Jiang in a crowded place, and followed the little palace maid to the back hall.
At the same time, Jing Lu released the lanterns, but when he came back up, he could no longer see Zheng Yutong. He anxiously circled around looking for her, but he couldn't find her at all.
He was about to pull one of the eunuchs aside for questioning when Cheng Suyun stepped out from behind him: "Third Prince, who are you looking for?"
When Jing Lu heard someone behind him, he saw Cheng Suyun and smiled with surprise at first, but then said anxiously.
“My cousin Yutong asked me to set off a lantern for her. I went to do it, but she disappeared. My cousin Yutong isn’t feeling well, and there were a lot of people around today. It would be bad if something happened to her.”
"Cousin Suyun, have you seen Cousin Yutong?"
Cheng Suyun witnessed Zheng Yutong hurriedly leave as soon as Jing Lu went down to the shore, but she didn't know where she went.
After all, she was a formidable rival. She had originally planned to see what Zheng Yutong was up to, but Xiange beside her reminded her not to miss this good opportunity.
Cheng Suyun knew she couldn't tell Jing Lu directly that Zheng Yutong had just lied to him and run away, and that Jing Lu would definitely make a scene if he found out.
Anyway, since Xiange has already gone after him, she will definitely have a chance to find out what kind of shady business Zheng Yutong is up to.
Cheng Suyun needed to gain Jing Lu's trust so that she could avoid marrying that sickly Wang family man after tonight.
Cheng Suyun: "I just saw from a distance that my cousin Yutong seemed to be coughing a few times while covering her mouth. She probably really wasn't feeling well."
"Is the Third Prince worried about Cousin Yutong? I just saw her heading in that direction. The Third Prince can come with me to find her."
"My cousin Yutong isn't feeling well, and I'm worried about her. Thank you so much, cousin Suyun," Jinglu said hurriedly as he went to look for her. He left with Cheng Suyun after saying only a few words.
In the peach grove.
"Second Prince, Empress Dowager Cheng advised you to drink less wine, as it's bad for your legs. She also found out that Miss Zhao came from Taolin. When you meet Miss Zhao, please be polite to her. After all, His Majesty will definitely bestow a marriage upon you and Miss Zhao, and you must put on a good show before the wedding."
Jing Shuo continued to drink heavily, and his personal attendant kept gently persuading him.
Hearing this, he was told to flatter Zhao Nianfu. Jing Shuo mocked himself, "I'm a cripple, and I haven't appeared in public for a long time. Look at their faces today, all of them staring at my legs, all of them staring."
He frantically pounded his legs.
The attendant looked on with heartache: "Second Prince, please be gentle. You've finally recovered a bit, please don't hurt yourself."
Jing Shuo let out a drunken burp and groaned.
"Let's go back to the palace. Why can they all go to the shore to release lanterns, but I have to stay in the peach grove? Do you think I can just hang my lanterns up here?"
"I don't want them to make a fool of me. I'm going back."
Jing Shuo didn't even want to enter the peach grove. He urged his attendant to go back. Seeing that he couldn't persuade him, the attendant pushed the wheelchair around with all his might.
Before he could turn around, Jing Shuo casually tossed an empty wine jug. As the jug hit the courtyard wall, a startled shout suddenly rang out from behind him.
"Be careful, young lady."
When Jing Shuo was turned around by his attendant, he saw a graceful woman standing in front of him through his drunken haze. Before he could see her clearly, he recognized her brightly colored brocade dress.
